I just realised Momoko’s witch form has henna tattoo’s which are usually done for special occasions like weddings, which shows how she had a crush or wanting to be more feminine. Rena’s witch has doll faces covered over her body. In her doppels description I believe it mention ‘if it uses its transformation too much, the user is likely to lose track of their own identity’ The doll faces could show that potentially she had lost her own identity and who she was and turned into a witch. Even more proof of this theory is her doppel attack animation, when Rena stares into the doppel’s mirror it’s a scribbly version of herself.
Fun Fact: Rena's earrings are the alchemical symbol of water

Beatrice comes out of Felicia’s navel due to her connection and love for her parents. So her doppel is a giant umbilical cord
I feel like Kaede's circular soul gem could be referring to the sun? One of the main reasons behind her wish was that the construction was blocking the sun from reaching her garden, after all. 🤔
The witch forms were revealed in app game event "factor of despair" where Alina collects girls' despair and paints what their witches look like to deter them from giving up !
Also, the game has announced an end of service today, terribly timed video...

Something for Sana. During the Deliver smiles! Reindeer Santa (2020 christmas login)it's revealed Sana is into books about the history of torture devices, and with the instances of hints that Sana resents her family, it leads to some dark underlying messages.
Interesting that the torture device isn't only included in her doppel, it essentially is her doppel. Knowing how soft Sana is, I would think she feels bad about what goes on in her head despite what her family did to her.
Even when not using her doppel, when she's not just bashing people with her shield, the shield opens up like a doorway and has various torture instruments fly out of it to attack for her.
Isn't it ironic how the "witch" that killed her parents was her own witch
Its because she (Felicia) and her prank caused their deaths and her guilt and despair created beatrice. Kyubey Just twisted her Memories to make sure once she learned the truth her witch form would Hatch.

Also Rena's whole design and aesthetic made me think of H-N Elly. But she has a doppel and a canon witch. So...that sucks.
I never realized how well Rena meshed with H. N. Elly’s design. We actually know H. N. Elly’s wish, to “box up” a specific memory, although what she’s referring to is unclear.
Note: The full witch forms are from the Alina’s Atelier Event in game. Alina mixes some of the curses from a witch and the magic from the magical girl to produce paint she uses to paint the witch they would’ve become.
Ok but Kaede’s Witch looks absolutely terrifying and cool at the same time. It looks like a demon, unhinging its jaw and screaming at its victims
2:00 Momoko is a bard-barian multiclass
Sana is definitely one of my faves because I relate too much to wanting to disappear sometimes 🫠. When I saw her Doppel and her torture weapons come out of her shield, I was honestly surprised, but it could also be interpreted in a way that, somewhere deep down, Sana low-key wants to get revenge on her family with these weapons, but it never really manifests all the way.
(Also, for character recommendations, I DEFINITELY want to see your take on Alina Gray. I finished my second watch of the anime and I've watched her Side Story's from the games and her psychology when it comes to art, and especially her overall descent into madness is so fascinating to me)
I'd like to think in one timeline she does get revenge as Theresa
While we're speculating about Kaede's Soul Gem, we should note that the gold border around it is
A) much thicker than normal
And B) pointed at one end, forming a teardrop shape.
1:42 This could be a stretch but it could be a reference to blacksmiths, because of the sword she has. Just a thought.
I guess the next ones should be Tsuruno, Mitama and Kanagi as they are also really important friends for Iroha, although the anime cut that part about Mitama and Kanagi roles to give away for her friend not really friend Kuroe (spoiler: those two had more to give than the lame excuse of character developer that was Kuroe).
To summarize about Kanagi's original role, she is the veteran leader of the East while Mifuyu and Yachiyo were the veteran leaders on the West, although Kanagi is not that experienced as she has only been a magical girl for 2 years (kinda like Mami). Kanagi wasn't confortable about the East-West problem and in secret wanted Kamihama to destroyed, which links her to Mitama and her wish, plus their friendship. She had problems with Yachiyo in the past but she puts that aside to help Iroha and her friends to end Magius plans, as most of the hooded magical girls are former east Kamihama girls that left Kanagi and help side to join Magius. In the quest to stop them Kanagi befriends Iroha.
Ui, Touka and Nemu are also really close and important with Iroha, as the three are her little sisters and the ones moving the story.
Also, don't belive the anime on Mitama's past, it is a lie, she never wanted to be a magical girl nor help others. xD
My recomendation for you're next videos are:
-Tsuruno; Ui, Touka and Nemu.
-Alina and her "friend"/kouhai Karin. You could also put Alina with Mitama and Kanagi, as the three are guided by the same path of ideology and intentions.
-Mitama, Kanagi and the Amane Twins (the 4 share the same related of story).
-Kanae and Mel, Yachiyo dead friends, also fit this part as they also are kinda related to the West-East situation, plus the two kinda explain Kanagi and Yachiyo's strange relationship.
I mean if both Daito and Mizuna are equally destroyed, the citizens of both would get along better than before because now there’s almost nothing to separate them but piles of rubble

At first I thought Kaede's souls gem being a circle was because of her connection to the sun, considering in her story she talks about the high rise blocking the sun and shrouding her garden away from the Sun's light, or maybe Kaede's soul gem's supposed to be a seed of some kind, I was thinking acorn but acorns aren't perfect circles. Maybe it represents the cycle or circle of life, everything that grows whether natural or artificial must come down and come back to Mother Nature eventually.
Also the whole don't sleep with your tummy out or you'll get a cold thing is a indeed a superstition, at least from where I am, and also I don't know if this is just me but Felicia's doppel looks like lower intestines which I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Perhaps it's like her gut feeling or something but she's blind to it as her doppel's eye is coming from it and isn't able to look at it still making her blind to the truth despite her gut telling her otherwise???
I love every single character in the series. They all are so complex I mean, the original cast of girls were complex, but not in this way we got more characters to work with more transformations a lot of more hope and a lot of more despair right and wrong.
Have you heard about yuu the one who killed nagisa mom has been released and you can see how different her design is between the official and her sprite

Yu’s wish was made in such despair that she’s basically half Witch already. Her mind reflects this, having no real sense of self or human empathy. If ever you wanted to get an idea of how a Witch thinks, then this (and Homura in the Rebellion movie) would be a prime example.
I’m pretty sure Momoko is based on a Paladin and not a Barbarian. The shield soul gem and the design on her hips suggest that she is more of a noble knight or Paladin than a barbarian, which pairs well with Rena and Kaede’s designs. Momoko’s ability to basically buff others also matches the paladin’s ability to use magic. Her wish also matches how Paladins are brave and righteous protectors of the people, which also suits Momoko well. Momoko doesn’t have a shield because she wished for confidence as well as the size of her sword being able to defend as well as attack with the size of it.
It also makes more sense for Momoko to be a Paladin instead of a barbarian due to Felicia being based on a barbarian. It wouldn’t make much sense to have two barbarians in the main cast. Most of these observations are based on Dungeons and Dragons classes.
Overall, loved the video. I hope that you cover the twins next as I feel like they would be a lot of fun to compare with each other.

For the bellybutton doppelganger, I see the reason for the placement is cause it's her family she wished about. So she's the baby and the bellybutton doppel is like her mum or vice versa

also, in case you haven't heard: there's a new madoka magica game coming out this year! it's called magia exedra and will be on mobile devices, just like magireco, but i'm unsure if it'll be released in north america. magireco will be ending services, but players will be able to transfer their accounts, which makes me think the gameplay will be similar- if not the exact same.
7:18 Kaede magic doesn't make things dissapear temporaly, she constricts things and people temporaly with her vines. She basicaly has the same power as Mami, but instead of ribbons she uses vines.
No, it’s confirmed she has both, we just don’t see her use her deletion ability too often.

@@fernandocuauhshihuacarbaja3094 No, in Kaede’s case, her deletion doesn’t conceal nor make something invisible. It straight up just temporarily makes an obstacle disappear for a short amount of time.

To me the contrast between Rena's trident and the rest of her design could be alluding to how her wish was to be completely different, like her weapon reflects how she wanted to be.
I think it’s referring to Poseidon, god of the sea and storms. The anime transformation does show her forming it from a bolt of lightning and Rena does share Poseidon’s temperamental nature.
Momoko feels very reminiscent of mami like how iroha is reminiscent of madoka. Not only with the mom/mentor role of the group and blonde hair but with the clothes. Mami is similar of a rifle man which is associated to Europe. Momoko feels like very Europe fantasy

Edit: Just watched it! Really nice to see you're back with Madoka Magica! Also, in MagiReco there has been a couple of events called "Factor of Despair" (if I remember correctly) in which the rewards were Memorias of some of the girls! So that's where their Witches came from! (I believe there are six different new ones released, btw.)
Great content, and I'm really curious to see you covering characters like Alina or Mitama!
Another aspect for Rena that I think is pretty cool is that she wanted to be an Idol and Cinderella is an often idealized story of someone who came from nothing and gains everything. Something that so many want to have and is seen all around the world with different variations. Her wanting to be someone different connects her to Cinderella even more because Cinderella is a massive idol in so many places in the world.
So a few things:
1. Rena's trident I think is more so based on the water theme in her magic. I think it acts as an conductor to attract lightning.
2. Momoko is literally just Mami without ribbons and guns. Though I wager her mental state is a lot healthier than Mami, because in every darn timeline Mami goes crazy and kills.
Lastly it's not "Fairygod Mother" it's "Fairyevil Demon ferret" also
Just my thoughts but it could be possible for kyubey to need a quota for making magical girls. He could be finding girls pining after dudes just to bolster numbers. It's kinda just like Sayaka. It's not the wish about love that pissed me off with Sayaka, it was her demeanor after finding out ferret was evil. I understand being hurt; however this is not justification to hurt those around you. Plus did you notice in every timeline when Mami finds out the truth and kills, her first shot is always for Kyoko. I think it's because she is the strongest next to Mami. Buuut wbu what do u think of this?

Well, I never thought I’d end up so obsessed with this franchise. There’s so much to dig into that it feels like I’ll never get bored of it all. Sadly, Magia Record will be no more this upcoming July 31st. Magia Union Translations on TH-cam is archiving all their translated stories, and will continue to post in the future, so the game will not be easily forgotten. A lot of people (myself included) prefer the game story to the anime, but I recommend checking both out, since they have VERY different endings. All the main girls undergo quite a lot, but find comfort in their found family. It’s quite a heartwarming story when you think about it, and it certainly carries the themes of Madoka Magica in its heart. Gekidan InuCurry sure can write. Can’t wait for whatever comes next. Magia Exedra has me on the edge of my seat.

While Kaede’s soul gem itself is just a circle, the golden border around it is more of a teardrop shape, which reminds me of a leaf or petal! (Although in some other images I’ve found of it, it sort of just looks like a circle with a small point on it)
The soul gem being a circle also makes me think of the “circle of life,” which would tie back into the whole theme of returning back to nature ^^

Yay another magical girl vid! I always thought Momokos soul gem was a heart cause ya know, crush but it’s a shield but I also wonder could it be a heart shaped shield? idk🛡️
I think Felicia’s soul gem is very interesting. For every other girl we see the soul gem designs on the top & another symbol on the bottom. But for Felicia it’s reversed. Her hat design is on top while the soul gem is on the bottom. I wonder if it’s related to her altered memories. Her soul gem, her true core, is not what she remembers. Instead she unknowingly hid herself from the truth. I find it so fascinating.
Also, completely unrelated side rant, I am 100% convinced Alina Grey was inspired by Izabel. Her souls gem is the same shape as the body of the trophy on Izabel’s grief seed, & it looks like an upside down arch. Alina’s side story shows her struggling to make art that lived up to her standards. She’s manipulative, obsessed w/ death, & would definitely encourage someone to off themselves. Heck, her Doppel, Old Dorothy, has similar colors to Izabel’s labyrinth & familiars. Also, her wish was to have a place where she could work on her art undisturbed, granting her the power to create barriers. Izabel is clearly inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, a massive building that once hosted luxury hotels & many of the arts on its upper part. It is a military monument worshiped by all yet is untouchable to the masses (at the time). Oh, and Alina sometimes slips into French dialog.

Kaede’s soul gem kinda looks like an eye from where it’s placed maybe it’s reflecting the wish she made,it’s also somewhere she couldn’t she if she wasn’t looking also like the wish she made,it could also be seen as something ironic: kaede didn’t want to see something that she didn’t need and now she’ll have to struggle keeping an eye on something she definitely will need now.
Don't wish for love that's a better take. Because there's Rika, that one magical girl who might be a lesbian and used her wish to make her childhood friend (who she had a crush on) forget her boyfriend and date her instead. She only isn't dating her now because she felt bad about using her wish like that

It might just be me, but Rena's trident reminds me of the staffs from Cardcaptor Sakura.
Maybe the reason trhe thingy is coming out of Felicia’s belly button can be a reference to umbilical cords? Maybe its showing her and her wish’s connection to her parents in a same way a baby’s umbilical cord is connected to their mom.
I wonder if Momoko’s gem is red because it compliments her eyes, like how eyes are often said to be the windows to the soul. I don’t know enough of the other designs off the top of my head to know if the other magical girls in the game or show also have their gems match their eyes, but that could be a possibility.
Also, Keade’s soul gem could be a circle cause how witches and mages often use circles for spells. Or it’s just meant to look like a jelly tart cookie XD
Well, with the whole 'return to nature' idea in Kaede's design in mind, could the circle be a refence to berries, earth and the cycle of nature reclaiming what belongs to her?

8:42 I don't think the circle shape is that important. Rather, it is a circular red gem to blend in with all of the other circular red gems in her design. Since her power makes objects temporarily disappear, it would make sense why her soul gem would be hidden. Not only does it blend in with all of the other gems, it is smaller and is hidden behind her. She is an anxious girl and would hide her weak spots if possible. Someone attempting to break her soul gem without knowing where it is would be difficult to say the least as there are all of the fakes and she wouldn't want to turn her back on an opponent. Perhaps that's also why she doesn't properly wear the witch hat; to hide her soul gem. It makes perfect sense to me.

Tbh, Mitama should be set apart from the other coordinators. It's best to put her with Kanagi and the Amane Twins to explain the West and East fight in Kamihama
I would love to hear more about witch/dopple natures. I think it’s interesting and I’m kind of confused on how their natures play a role.
I broadly use Witch natures and Familiar duties as metaphors for what’s going on in the story. In episode 5 of the main series, Sayaka confronts the Familiar Anja of the Witch Albertine. Anja’s duty is to be Naive, which reflects Sayaka’s naïveté as she debuts as a magical girl. Since Familiars grow into copies of their parent Witches if they consume enough souls, then Anja will eventually grow into Albertine if given enough prey. Albertine’s nature is ignorance, reflecting how Naive thinking leads to ignorance if left unchecked. This is the case with countless Witches and Familiars throughout the series. Familiars are even said to be based on the hearts of the magical girls who became their parent Witches, so we can learn a fair bit from them.

If you actually have Kaede as Rena's Prince Charming, it makes it more clear that Rena's witch is Cinderella. Someone who cares her deeply without her disguised form, it's Kaede.

Also, my idea for Rena's spear is that its a reference to Erica Mendez's role as Elenor Hume from Tales of Beseria, a bit silly, but that's what comes to my mind given the pigtails, the color blue, and the spear, so the witch form, is the result of being consumed by her malevonce (Beseria terminology), its my headcannon, and I am sticking to it
