The wait is finally over! DELAIN returns with full power, presenting themselves with a new lineup featuring Diana Leah as their next singer! Rejoining the fold are guitarist Ronald Landa and drummer Sander Zoer. The Symphonic Metal outfit sets off into their next era, with new album Dark Waters!
I sat down with keyboardist, founder and main songwriter Martijn Westerholt to discuss the album, the new line-up and the change from Charlotte Wessels to Diana Leah, 80s AOR like Journey, and upcoming plans!

Really good interview as always Jasper! I am one of those people who enjoyed early Delain the most, and just kind of fell away over the years, and now with the new singles I find myself liking it more again. It always sucks when ties have to be severed so I hope the best for everyone involved.

I've seen delain more than any other band they are the best symphonic metal out there for me and even with a whole new lineup, martijn still brings the magic. i've listened to the album about 10 times now and keep going. he is very gifted.

I was so delighted when they reappeared out of nowhere, and so happy about how well the introduction of Diana went.
She sounds so beautifully Delain-ish, and everybody in the yt comments agreed. I feared some Nightwish drama but there was literally none of it.

I just came back from the show. It was worth every penny :) they should play on stadiums, not some small/medium clubs. The New line up is awsome :)
It's so nice to hear Martijn speak so positively of his former bandmates. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't, but he does. That shows that he has a lot of character. I also love the songs that have come out so far and have pre-ordered the album. I'm sure it's going to be great.
Also, I saw you guys open for Nightwish near Pittsburgh, PA a number of years ago, and you were fantastic. I remember Tuomas of Nightwish saying similar things regarding limiting the number of shows on a tour, and I respect that so much. You're only human. If I can't see you on the current tour, maybe I'll get to see you on the next. I don't mind. I'd much rather you and the band be healthy and ready to put out additional albums than tour yourselves to death. It's all about the long run.
