@@okidoki2952 thanks, I have a decent spend history but I’m pretty sure there others with much greater spending. DSC I’m still trying to understand why I was selected but the OP it took a year to get. Top Rolex’s are still extremely hard to get at retail, not sure what people are talking about things becoming available. Can’t be further from the reality in my experience

It’s not a few bad apples anymore. It’s a few good among a ton load of bad apples, because dealers are fighting not to go belly up.
Wrong doings in the grey, will shift watch enthusiast towards the reputable dealers. However, in the eyes of the end users, this is now more than ever the AD’s. The AD’s has gained the most. Furthermore, TPG is only a small part of the problem. The problems escalate when grey market dealers and partners like Thorpe, show what I will describe as complete lag of respect and honesty for the end users, in he’s quest for hyping and talking up the grey dealers and their product.
I see Actions like these to be more damaging than TPG because, when someone who was vouching for TPG is saying trust these trusted dealers, because I trust and back them, he lumps them all in the same category as TPG.
You have been doing a great job, distancing your self from the UK grey dealers from YT. Don’t stumble on the finish line, and remember to stay honest and transparent, even if it calls for you and your company calling out others in the business.

At the end of the day consignment is a flawed method purposely designed to the detriment of the watch owner. It’s the owner taking on a huge risk giving their watch to a dealer free of charge and no insurance to replace the watch in full should something bad happen. Next, you as the owner have no real way of knowing what the watch really sales for. The owner settles on a price and on top of that has to pay a commission on that. If the watch sales for more that’s extra money in the grey market dealer’s pocket that the owner most likely will not see. The grey market dealer gets a watch for free that they can use to promote their business. Sell the dream on TH-cam all at the expense of the owner. Consignment is a bad deal and a horrible way to sale a watch especially when there are platforms where you can sell it yourself and keep more money in your pocket.

08:26 This is an extremely good question, I I have definitely had myself. First time I left the AD with a new Rolex (Air King) I honestly thought they shorted me on links. It fit me fine, but it seemed too short. I just thought it would be able to fit larger wrists. When you think about it though, why would they ship a watch with enough links to fit a 8.5 inch wrist. I’ll bet Rolex has it down to a science, where they ship them with enough links to fit 85-90% of customers. As for how many links, it depends on what type of bracelet. So far as I know, most modern oysters have 13 (not counting end links). It’s crazy shit eh?

I would prefer Rubber B over most brands having had a lot of hands on experience with them.

Good work David, spot on, and I am not even your biggiset fan. What do you say about Manchester Watch Hub, they grey market are saying, zero. One particular YTuber, I mean huge claims he had no idea., lol!
I feel sorry for the customers affected. Whilst it’s hard for me to pinpoint exactly the companies that I find weird as there is a small chance I could be wrong and I wouldn’t want to distort an honest business without 100% proof but I tried to guide the public with my thought process and what I think of certain practices and how I think you should sell your watch the safe way. Unfortunately not everyone takes the advice for what it is.

I have a Rubber B and I love it, for what that’s worth. It’s quality AF and comfortable as hell. My one gripe (which I have for basically everyone), I wish the holes were closer together for a more precise fit.

I haven’t watched the video. To be fair I haven’t been watching a lot of videos nowadays. A lot of the same repetitive content where no one learns anything. My content might be not as entertaining as some but I hope people find it informative and adds value to the watch community. There are some channels that I still follow because I find the information useful.
@@watchcollectorsuk I suppose, in order to get views/subscribers , they need to discuss more than just watches. I am no expert, but the fallout from the TPG fiasco seems to be sending some shock waves through some watch channels, and 4pee has come under some considerable criticism for his part in vouching for TPG. I enjoy your channel , and will keep watching . ATB.

Its not good enough for dealers to pooh pooh it. Its surely a matter of time before watch dealers are required to be licensed and bonded to help improve industry trust. Its better if watch dealers push for it themselves before exogenous forces like the Govt get involved

Your bad apples analogy was apt and emphasis on a buyer's responsibility to research companies they deal with was a point well made. Events over the last few years, not just the recent blow up in the US, have shown we need a lot less hype from "influencers" and more considered talk about watches such as was contained in this video.
The guy who asked the question about the OP bubble dial and the deep sea was definitely trolling. There's no way anyone purchased both of those.
Maybe someone was… They are not highly sought after compared to other new models.
