    Oooh boy, the memories. It reminds me of my old combo-goblin deck ( how many years ago... 15? more? ...sigh) . I played Charbelcher in combo with Goblin recruiter. It could kill in turn 33 with the right sequence:
    - turn 1: land + any single-mana goblin, such as goblin lackey or some hasty gobbo
    - turn 2: land + goblin recruiter, lets you search your deck for any umber of goblins and put them on top of library in the preferred order. Put at least 11 of them, in an order that allows a backup plan. Make sure that the FIRST one is a Skirk prospector (sacrifice gblins for mana)
    - turn 3: land + prospector + that ritual that gives 1 mana for every goblin in play. Sacrificing the goblins in play for mana, you'd have at least 7 for charbelcher and activation. Since you 'd have at least 10 gobbos on top (and played only basic mountains), you'd have a 20 damage on-hit-kill.
    And if all of this failed, you'd still have an aggressive gobbo deck, with your lackeys, your goblin grenades, that expensive one that came with three tokens... But the fun part was using charbelcher, as most opponents didn't expect a combo-kill by a goblin deck.
    It was not the most competitive deck, back then, but it was fun fun fun to play.
    Oh gods, the memories... thank you for this walk into memory lane

    A bold if risky move is to include a single copy of a mountain in the deck. Hitting the mountain deals potentially even more damage and if you draw it its a good land drop and the deck still works. There is a chance though that you reveal it too early in the deck to do enough damage however even with the double damage multiplier. Not super neccersarry in online games but a fun sideboard land to fetch if the opponent is on alot of life gain.

    2nd 20 game session with this combo, did better than last time in wins. 60% of the time I'm either locked into 2 (most times) to 3 lands by turn 5 usually the game is already over for me or 35% of the time flooded; out of 20 games I've only manage to get the Charbelcher to pop off 4 times (16 losts). Not one game did I had Crag in my opening hand. I would rarely find my 2nd Charbelcher and or Crag (after digging), as 75% of the time my 1st Charbelcher is either countered or destroyed or I'm dead on turn 3 or 4 because the other person "magically" curved out into their combo, or they have 2 thought seize and or 2 duress (they usually comes in threes by turn 4) rather common in facing off against discard decks, this time it was 8 times.

    Pact of negation is pretty iffy in an irencrag feat deck. You can't actually use it to protect your charbelcher, only the irencrag feat itself, so its completely useless in hand if they know how to sequence their counterspell. Its still useful if you ramp into it or pass and use it on their turn in response to removal and use charbelcher with the cost trigger on the stack or whatever, but eh its not the best interaction

    • @LegenVD

      Not sure if there's a better card to fill that slot and there are ways to discard it if we don't need it.

    What's missing from this entire discussion is the 2016 ruling (that could be changed, and predates MTG Arena) that makes this combo work. Basically, if you deck yourself and never hit a land, it deals that much damage and you somehow don't lose. I'd post the link, but I think it nukes my post so search for it.

  • @emorsi
    @emorsi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Most opponents, if they don't know the key card here, will be in panic because they don't know how so much damage is possible. Maybe some will even send a bug report to WotC... that something was off here. Well, we all know better now. I know one card which is the doom of that deck in historic: the white enchantment "Nine Lives". 49 damage? No problem, you still deal only one.

  • @Legov7
    @Legov7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is very confusing to me, that this even works.
    When you have revealed all of your library why do you get to stop? I thought the condition is "until you reveal a land card". Failing to reveal ANY card seems not like the same to me.
    In a nice world this would make an endless game in which you reveal no card again and again for infinity.

    • @LegenVD
      @LegenVD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s really not. Cause this deck runs creativity, in which case you need to only have cannon as artefact in your deck
