Heck yeah, my 2nd favorite deck in all of MTG: Simic Merfolk! It is a fantastic deck to learn how to play the game, as I have started playing MTG for real with the Ixalan version (which you seem to know well). The Historic version is a lesson in learning about Sorcery versus Instant. Sometimes you want to play all your creatures, sometimes you want to keep your mana up, as a well-timed counter to a board-clear spell can be the difference between a win and a loss. This is why Merfolk is overpowered beyond belief. No one can convince me otherwise. Two mana average to have tons of 3-4 mana effects infinitely for free.

Really strong deck. Just not sold to the T1 green merfolk, seems that there are better options like the T1 rogue merfolk that draws and flyies. Luca, have you tried the dragonstorm combo deck? Dont remember your video reg that deck.

as somebody who plays this deck a lot, its very important for your aggro plan, that being said, he needs more green sources, there is no reason to play any basic islands over unclaimed territories basically since his only noncreature blue spells are spell pierce and only as a 2 of.
@@emersoncollazo1875 I always get put against Elves for some reason, which seems an oddly big portion of the meta despite not being a big presence on deck tracking sites? In any case, they wreck me pretty hard even after sideboard so idk

When I play Historic events it's 95% Skurry Oak and Izzet aggro.
It seems that the algorithm always match merfolks against izzet and selesnya. Otherwise I'd be real free state on gems
