Make sure it's a the live version. There is an official video, but it's not as 'Epic' as the fan-made live one imho. The offical vid is well done, but I find the live registration to have a better vibe.

Epica is my absolute favorite symphonic metal band. I love the mix of Simone's beautiful voice, the growl and the heavy sound. And they mix it all perfectly.
I love Simone Simmons voice! The operatic tone she has is truly captivating. I love the women of Rock and Metal. They make my ear holes excited.
All those singers, Floor, Simone, Sharon den Adel, Anneke van Giersbergen, Devin Townsend, Bruce Dickinson, James LaBrie, and so on and so on, come together on the projects of Ayreon. The master behind all of this is the dutch Arjen Lucassen. In september there will be several concerts in the Netherlands en the fans are coming from all over the world. We the dutch have amazing female front singers, Floor(nightwish), simone(Epica) Sharon(Whitin Temptation) and Anneke(the Gathering). So proud!
Mark Jansen On The Growl, Very Cool! Love Epica very Much!
I've been lucky to see Epica twice in my hometown (one of them with Dragonforce!!), and they put a hell of a show. One of those I was able to get a vip ticket and met them face to face, and they're freakin cool and funny, and Simone in person.... "nosebleed".
While in the same genre, they're definitly heavier sounding than Nightwish, and Mark Jansen's (not afiliated with Floor :p) growls definitely help, love the contrast between his harsh growls and Simone heavenly voice.

Epica literally too their name from an album by the band Kamelot, called, what else, but EPICA. Simone Simons is actually married to Kamelot's keyboard player Oliver Polotai. So they have a VERY long standing history wth this band.

My favorite band ever, been to their cd releases and its always a party.
Consign is always their closer, and with their 10 year anniversary concert that was 3.5 hours. Their drummer is called the beast for a reason lol

Simone writes some lyrics, Mark (lead guitars) also writes and arranges the guitar parts, and all the orchestra and choir arrangements are done and created by Coen (keyboards). well that's 2 of the big dutch lady singers done, other one left is Sharon Den Adel at Within Temptation who's another vocal beast. Must admit I was at download (i'm on the pic of the band selfie at the end of the gig) and i didn't expect a wall of death but sheesh.
Still think you should listen to Tarja though, nightwish are the projenitors of symphonic metal and Tarja has been a massive influence on the singing style, admitted by Simone herself in interviews.
though must admit after hearing this again i'm ready for a little Amon Amarth or Arch Enemy

When the crowd separates and runs at each other like that at the start it is called a wall of death. It happens at metal shows when the song gets slow and then really heavy. You also see it in the video for Teacher, Teacher by Jinjer.

This is is only possible when you have very good and well trained singers. In this scene is no room for fake singers, because the crowd didn’t expect that. Most of our Dutch female front singers has the ability to sing what they want in any style. You can find them on TH-cam.
