When the Scorpions uncovered a corruption scandal involving the Deputy President, Parliament realised that the sting was in their own tail. MPs are now keen to unearth blemishes on the Scorpions' 93% conviction rate. A turf war is also brewing as the police feel undermined by the Scorpions. Extra legal powers allow them to investigate and prosecute their arrests. It seems that success is bittersweet as criticism of their tactics keeps on growing.

The fact that MR Corruption Jacob Zuma got rid of the Scorpions says it all. Ramaphosa won't bring them back for one simple reason - Same corruption in Government , different faces. Thieves don't strengthen law enforcement..... they destroy it Why do you think the ANC removed the death penalty ? Removal of the very thing they all deserve permits them to continue unchecked ! More people live in poverty under ANC rule than ever before and they KNOW it !! More people unemployed than ever before and they KNOW it !! Thieves don't care about others no matter what BS they speak to remain in power during elections. Enough said. Under ANC rule we have the highest corruption and crime rate than ever before. We have the highest inflation than ever before and ALL state owned enterprises are failing due to ANC mismanagement and theft. Only the Masochists in SA are still voting for these low-level self-entitled looters !! Those who vote ANC definitely have a very deep sense of guilt and want desperately to harm themselves and their children !! They're going about it brilliantly !!

Who is that guy that said we will touch them the untouchable. I love his mindset towards crime. This is what is lacking in our police today. It is very sad such unit has been disbanded. They specialized in what I call high level white collar crime which had the visible effect on the ground. It is not a victimless crime. These men and women understood that principle very well. Today their role has been taken over by the Hawks serious commercial investigation unit.
US FB! are not so shiny now. S.Afrikkaneers should be proud on their own right. Not in shadow of another. SA has some quite impressive police agencies. While studying the language I have seen real strong physical standards, courage, solid tactics and good evidence handling.
Some extreme parallels exist with police corruption but that seems to be at the lower patrol rank.
A police officer living among his/her clients is a recipe for problems. Perhaps separate communities for public servants would be good. Of course you buy home same as anywhere. Imagine living in a high crime area and patrolling same area; incredibly challenging and not safe for officer or family.
The corruption is exception to the norm. I’m watching because it’s impressive. Yes I am retired officer of city then hired to county then hired to state then federal authority. Yes, challenging path. But worth it. Sere gute polisitzie.

The issue was that the scorpions were not yet an independant force like CIA,MI6 and spetznaz. We need secret agencies that can fund themselves. In SA i doubt wed need all these law enforcement agencies if everyone were employed and paid properly
