You are so gracious, Fallon. I ordered this box for two years. I will not order it again. While it's fun to open them each day, I had no use for most of what was in them. So, sadly, the expensive disappointment outweighed the fun for me.
I agree, too expensive for lots of items not used. I prefer more fabric.
I agree. Most of the items were of no use to me. So, instead of spending the money, I'm going to treat myself to a bom club.

I watched MSQC's live stream yesterday in which Jenny and Natalie talked about 2023's box. Jenny mentioned the bar of soap in last year's box. There are two young boys in Hamilton (I think she said they are 14 and 16). Their family owns the museum in Hamilton. They made some soap in the shape of a spool and gave it to her as a gift. She was so impressed that she asked the boys if they could make enough soap to include in the 2022 boxes. Those boys had to make over 600 BARS of soap PER DAY! 😳 And they did it! In fact, not only did they make the soap, but they had all the bars ready to go into the boxes before any other vendor that MSQC purchased from. Jenny said that last year, those boys were honored as the Hamilton entrepreneurs of the year, which is very impressive! So, that story makes me appreciate the soap even more! ☺
Same! When I looked closer at it and saw that it read made there it really felt like a different gift. Much more personal and I loved that she was supporting other local businesses and families.

I purchased this years box. Last years box was my first box. The bar of soap has definintely been a very useful gift to me as it is a goats milk? soap which is great for burns which has come in handy for my family. Just like you, I do not love every item, however, it is a very fun box and I enjoy opening each gift. My favorites have been thread, sewing needles, the various cups, and the chuck the duck snow globe which I keep top of my fabric cabinet year round. I cant wait to see what is in this year's box. Jenny did say the price went up this year $10 so I hope that means maybe some more fabric or some higher quality items in the box.
I will not get Jenny's box. It is priced to high for me 😢.
LOL, I thought you had kitty ears on but a I watched I realized it was your Featherweight behind you. I appreciate your honesty and no I won’t buy a box as I’m not in to the trinkets.

Yes I preorder this. My first box was last year had a lot of fun. It is just my hubby and me so this made Christmas fun me and he even enjoyed it.
My husband likes to ask what was in that days package each day too!

I just started watching TH-cam quilting channels last year as I recuperated from shoulder surgery. I had never heard of sampler boxes or Christmas countdown boxes before then. I enjoyed watching the unboxings, but quickly realized that box subscriptions or Christmas boxes are not something that appeals to me. I want to be in charge of the items I buy. I did buy the FQS Christmas box, which had a couple of items I really like, but I’d rather see what’s in a box and then order a particular item that looks like something that would be useful. Sometimes items are made special for those boxes only, though. I will enjoy watching you and others open the gifts and make the projects. From the comments already written here, I can see that some people find a lot of enjoyment from participating in the Missouri Star Christmas box, so I’m happy that a program like that is available for you.
I purchased last year and even though I was excited to unwrap each day I was disappointed overall and will not be purchasing this years box.

Keepsake Quilting's Christmas box is all about fabric and notions. Not done as separate gifts to open though.
First time with last years 2023 box. Yes it was fun but afterwards I felt like I overindulged myself. I think it was most fun opening up a gift everyday. I did look forward each morning to getting out of bed for this. Even my husband enjoyed watching. BUT…overall I didnt want or need most of the gifts…even though they were nice enough little gifts. I do give a few away to a quilting friend. I will miss the “getting out of bed and opening a new gift” thrill BUT I’ll get over it. Too expensive really. I’d rather just buy lots more fabrics and sewing notions that I REALLY want.
I ordered last years. It was fun opening a new gift each day. I really liked/loved about 1/4 of the gifts. About 1/2 were o.k, I liked them but wouldn't have bought them. 1/4th were duds. The value was more than I paid. But I am really hesitant to buy again mostly because they keep messing up my orders since the beginning of this year. I am getting really frustrated with their inventory?/ordering dept?. Once I can see but 4 orders in a row? I am thinking they are growing faster than they can handle currently and if they can mess up a pre-made box? Then I will be that one that has it happen.
I am in agreement about last years box. I think it was about the same for me.
Four orders messed up! What a pain! I hope the fixed it. Even if they did fix it it is still frustrating and their shipping takes so long either way. I honestly haven’t ordered from them in awhile just because if that.
The first box was the white one then I shipped the next year because I wanted more fabric. I ordered last year because I heard it had more fabric. I got a mug and a calendar which I did not keep. There were a few sewing things that I liked, but I will not be ordering this year's box because of the price.
This might be my last year. I really find the box fun but I need to cut down on all the clutter.
I got the 2020 box…and that’s how I found and subscribed to your channel. I tuned in each day and opened each package with you! While I pretty much liked many of the items, I have not ordered the advent box again. But I have continued to watch both you, and Kris from Sew the Distance, open them and I really enjoy your candid evaluations of the items…and usually agreed with you.😊 Thanks.

I might order this year, last year was my first box, it was fun to open a gift a day and to watch your video to see if you like it. I'm also thinking about making my own box this year. That way I will love everything!! By Christmas time I will have forgotten what I bought until I open it up each day. Last year's box I loved the pattern for rotary cutter and scissor holder pattern, the rest of the stuff is somewhere in this house..
I have thought about making my own box too! I also thought about trying to talk my husband into making one for me just to see what he thinks I might like!
For those of “us” who LOVE getting material, I wonder why someone doesn’t have an advent box called, “The 25 Blocks of Christmas”, or something along those lines. The concept could be a table runner, or a lap quilt. What do you think?
I would buy a box like that! The closest I see is the fabric enthusiast box from Cotton Cuts. Near Christmas they release it and you open a fat quarter each day leading up to Christmas. They also send 5 patterns.

I ordered it for the first time last year. Totally disappointed. I have most of it sitting in a bin to give away.
I haven't gotten it yet, but Carolina Moore does a mini advent with templates that make a specific size block and has patterns for each day. She does a make along and according to the videos from the last two years includes finishing instructions for a project.
Yes🎉 one for my mother and one for myself. We are both at a point in our life where there's not a lot of gifts nor do we need for necessities and we thoroughly enjoyed the daily time and excitement of opening last year, so we will most definitely share that time again this year.

Last year was my first time I ordered one and I really enjoyed it. As an older widow, it was a gift to myself to keep the joy of the holidays. I ordered the '23 box Monday.
Also, what really made it fun was the daily call with an old friend as we opened the gifts together.
Didn't realize it wasn't all quilting. Oh well we will see too late now for myself and my friend

I ordered the last two years and enjoyed the opening of a surprise each day. Not ordering this year as I haven't done most of the projects from last year's box yet. Looking for something different this time, but did love most of the gifts and regifted some I didn't want.

I have so enjoyed opening each gift and watching you as well. Your excitement is contagious, and I also have the fear of missing out. This is a fun box, and I have friends who are doing the box as well. I appreciate you and look forward to each day seeing your reaction. We all need to appreciate how a simple bar of soap turned out to be such a great achievement for those young men and how we got to contribute to that. Would have been nice to know that story when we got that bar of soap. ❤
I have purchased the box the last 2 years. Like you the first year I was really excited and enjoyed just opening everything. Each year there were some things I was not so thrilled with upon opening them, but I found that I did in fact end up using them. The tray, the clock, the mug, the calendar. Other things that were not to my taste turned out to be great gifts for one or two of my friends and my nieces. I was delighted with the notions that were included this year. Things that I had looked at purchasing for myself, but thought the money could be better spent on other things. To get them as a gift in the box was a delight! Those are the things I like. Quilting notions, little fabric kits, patterns. Anything organizational was a delight! Always looking for those things. Fabric I may not have purchased, but upon seeing it I really liked it! That is what I enjoy. It is my gift to me each year so far.
Hi Fallon… I did order one a few years ago. It was fun at the time but way too expensive for what I got, if I could remember! I like watching unboxings so that is my pleasure. I don’t get boxes anymore, having cancelled a couple in the past year. I still buy online, but only what I want or think I need! Postage etc is the killer nowadays. 😍🇦🇺

I won’t be ordering the box. I enjoy watching the unboxings and may order items if I see something i like. I really don’t need knickknacks or fabric other people like, I don’t need any projects added to my already long to do list. To each his own.
I got it last year and I can’t say it was great, not going to order it this year would rather spend the almost 200$ on stuff that’s my favorite stuff instead of her favorite stuff.

Last year's box was my first. I loved most of the gifts. What was so fun was that the colors matched my new sewing room perfectly. I also needed a boost because I was feeling depressed about the year anniversary of my father's death. That's why I ordered it in April, to help my depression. Some of the things I re-gifted but I enjoyed opening them every day. It's a lot of fun. I've ordered this year's box already.
The 2022 Advent Box was my first one and I have pre-ordered the 2023 Advent Box tonight! I don't order any subscription boxes so it's fun getting notions and things that I normally would not have purchased for myself. Very exciting and can't wait until Dec 1st!
Would enjoy receiving as a gift, but would not purchase. I have specific items I want and would rather spend the $ on specifics than unknowns.
I enjoyed the quilting patterns and quilting notions. My disappointment last year was all the “non-quilty” items in the box. I don’t embroider or cross stitch so the multitude of these items did not thrill me.

Yes, I will order, have always ordered from the begining! Grant it, not everyone is gonna be happy with everything, but I really enjoy it. I like the variety of the things they curate. I don't mind that it's not all quilting, I have so many projects to do, don't really need any more! LOL It's my only Christmas, and I feel it is valued just right.
I do find the value is always there. I may not like everything, but I can appreciate that the box isnt just for me! lol

I totally will be ordering. They are soooo fun. Not everything brings the “wow” factor but everything in them has a use or you can give it away.
I ordered 2022 box, it was my first box and yes it’s a bit pricey. It’s not the box for me and I will not be ordering again because I was expecting more fabric and projects.
I never bought one of these holiday boxes until last year when I got the one offered by Keepsake Quilting. i think it was their first year. The items were not individually wrapped, so this year I would just put the whole box under the tree for Christmas. The contents (25 items) included lots of fabric, for example 3 yards of a beautiful neutral 108" wide back, some Amish black, fat quarters etc. Also some projects, ornaments, and aprons, some notions, a coupon for 20% off and lots of things that almost any quilter could use. Nothing that had "Keepsake Quilting" plastered all over it. I was very pleased with it. I hope they do it again. The Missouri Star box doesn't appeal to me.
I will definitely have to look at getting that box! It sounds like one I would love!
I ordered the last 2 boxes, and I enjoyed your opening videos along with Kris at Sew the Distance. As you said, it's to be expected that we won't like everything, and as Jenny herself has said, we all have lots of fabric, and she wanted to choose things that were other than fabric (although each box had a little bit in it). I don't hand sew at all, and it seemed like the 2022 box had a lot of hand sewing things in it, so I took the items I didn't like or wouldn't use, and donated them. And that tray - definitely not for me. I've decided I'm going to pass on it this year. It's a lot of fun to open each gift, but when I think back to last year's box, I only liked about half the gifts, so I think I can make better use of the $180 or so that I would spend on it.
I've watched you open all three years! I bought the 2nd years box. And made most of the fabric projects, but still have things left in the box. Last year, 2022 I ordered online stuff I wanted; fabrics, zippers, patterns, notions, chair! and opened the packages for a week in December. Probably will not buy a box this year. I did like the license plate in the '22 box though. And that blue pillow with all the white buttons was gorgeous...
The pillow button project was my favorite from the box last year!
I'm still on the fence. I bought the same years as you and I feel the same. I enjoyed the first year's box the most too. There are some fun and interesting things in it. I love when they have the projects, but some of the notions are fun too. I do watercolor so I enjoyed those items, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. Thanks for your video, always insightful. 😊

I totally agree! It may be silly but I also just look forward to the box! I use them to store my holiday decor and projects in! This years box looks so pretty and I like that it has a magnetic closure! I guess its the little things sometimes!

More and more people gave away stuff from last year, than any previous years. No bueno.
Oh my gosh, girl, what closet space in your house let’s you hang on to those boxes! Hahaha! Since MSQC communication asks everyone to not share these on social media, I’m going to pass this year and focus one the ones I can enjoy with internet friends since that’s a large part of the joy for me.

I purchased the box the past two years. I plan on treating myself again and preordering this year’s box. As you said not everything is what we hope for but the gifts we truly like outweigh what aren’t our favorites. As a side note I really didn’t think that I would use the Missouri Star tray that was included last year but I’m using it to lay out my block pieces and set it right next to my sewing machine. It turned out to be a great gift. Can’t wait to preorder. Yay!
Having a tray really does come in handy. I wasn’t excited about it either but it really is practical.

I did preordered this years box. This will be my 3rd year. Your right Fallon I didn’t love everything in the box but I did enjoy the excitement of opening a gift a day. It is a little pricey but not for 25 gifts! Holidays can be a little stressful, it was nice to stop take a breath and open a gift for myself.
Have never purchased before but going to give it a try this year.

I ordered the 2021 box. For the most part I enjoyed it but I was one of those that anticipated getting more fabric than stuff. I opened them daily and really liked the fun involved with that. Last year I enjoyed watching you and Chris at Sew the distance open your gifts. I appreciate the honesty. But I will not order this year as I would rather spend the money on things I would rather have, like fabric.

I can understand that! It is so much fun, but while the gifts are different each year they do have a similar theme. Threads, snips, needles... they may be different brands, but a lot of similar items. There are a few things I look forward to though. I love to see what the projects are and I love to see what small businesses they showcase.

I must have my head in the sand because I didn’t even know they had a box. Watched Steffanie unbox her’s last year and agree, wasn’t as excited I probably could have been. I’m passing on the purchase. I’ll go to my local quilt store and treat myself to something new instead.
I'm finding that many things I didn't care for when I opened it, I'm using later on...like that domed needle holder from last year, I'm using that now. Overall there are more "hits" than "misses", and it helps me get through the Christmas season. Just wish they'd quit being so crazy about Chuck the Duck, lol.
