I love stories about GREAT PEOPLE. Bobby Orr was the same way in as every person he met he engaged with and they were the most important person in the world for the moment.
Coach Faust could have chosen the bitter pill like Coach Devine did. The glass was always half full, he never lost his faith, his positiveness and was never arrogant. A true life lesson.
@@e2go I remember him being there for Jason Taylor's induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame…and Jason having him stand up and receive some acknowledgment
Edmund Joyce made several poor decisions....this was one of them....the decline was humiliating...nice guy/bad coach...the last game against Miami was tough to watch...tough for the team and tough for any ND football fan!
Don't worry, ND completely sold out and hired perhaps the grimiest coach in history in Lou Holtz, who didn't have an NCAA violation that he didn't love and left every program he ever coached with a pile of sanctions. Faust was the perfect scapegoat to get a real dirtball in there so you and other crybabies wouldn't feel so bad for a few years.
@@e2go ND had enough of Hugh Devore, Terry Brennan and miserable teams….the AD not the Rev Joyce should have made that decision…leave the priests on the pulpit and out of the athletic department….coaches don’t tell them how to give a homily…..priests should stay out of the way of running a football team 😱
what a "MAN", gerry faust is living proof that great human beings aren't always "great" by measures of wins and losses but as a human being, lord(or whatever your higher power may be) don't make them much better
Faust had a few very notable wins at ND. Beating such powerhouse teams at the time as Michigan, Pitt, Miami, LSU, Boston College but would somehow lose to teams like Air Force and Purdue.
Gerry was a good friend. One of the best people I ever knew.

He went on to have a stellar career as the head coach of Akron, compiling a 27-393 career record.
The most amazing couch I know of.
What’s the most amazing sofa you know of?
The only thing he was good at was crying.
Shortly after resigning from ND, he took the head coaching job at Akron. He coached the Zips for 9 seasons before being fired in 1994.
It's kind of weird that NO ONE ever mentions that he did get another D1 coaching job for an extended period of time after this.

Gerry Faust is a Great man! He Truly Loves the University of Notre Dame! GO IRISH!!
Gerry Faust.... Reminds me of my Pop...... "A glass half full/half empty.... At lease ya gotta glass"
My parents are the two people at the very end of the video. Is it possible to reload this video file and include the lady at the end?
I will try for sure.
Thanks!

But it was ok when ND would run up the score

The players thought so much of Faust that they quit on him in his final game.
They didn't quit on him, they got beat down by that U....happens to the best...it's a Cane thing...🙌
@@Michael_Chandler_Keaton they didn’t respect him, he was a puss.

Beat Penn State once also.
RIP
Now that's a man.
What a crybaby. He should be embarrassed what he did to ND football.
Stole their money with that record.
