Great video! Nikon used the Nikkormats as test platforms for their F's. The Nikkormat FTn proceeded the Nikon FTn with the left-right twist to index the lens, and the Nikkormat EL proceeded the F3 as Nikon's first automatic camera. Plus, these are fun camera's that allow you to tap into the wonderful AI and pre AI Nikon lenses.
I think my FTn had a cold shoe on it. Maybe a transition year? Don’t have it here to check. I sent it off to some guy named Kori to refurb it 😁. Thanks for the videos. I’m starting to have more than a passing interest in old film cameras these days. Maybe I miss my Zone System class back in college.
Another great video. I have Nikkormat FT2s and Nikon F2s. Do you find the Nikkormats easy to work on compared to other cameras? In use, I find them as good as the F2, and I really like the design. You might want to change the title - that's an FTn, not an FT, hence the N above the meter window on the top plate. The FT had an even more primitive aperture index.
@@nikkormat705 Thanks for the heads-up about the N. I rush my videos and don't do any research on them since they are for entertainment only. If I were writing articles or making training videos, I would be more careful. As for Nikkormat service being easy or hard, they are about the same as working on Canons, Minoltas, Pentaxs, Olympus cameras. Each camera model has its own problem areas.
