    Bro your information is fruitful . My doubt is while checking for crystal clear tank whether the tank LED lights should be ON or OFF . Because when I ON the LED and check I'm not able to view the other side of tank clearly . When I OFF the LED and check I'm able to see the other side very clearly .

    Hi. I have a brand new 5 gallon / 20 ltr planted tank that I set up exactly 9 days back. It has 3 layered substrate of fine sand, red clay stones and black substrate ( don't know the name). It's lighted and am using a waterfall filter. Currently am doing a fish cycling with 4 guppies. Its has some Christmas moss rocks, some rotala, anubias nana, and one more variety. My water is still very cloudy after 9 days. When enquired in the local aquarium they told me to do a 50% water change every 3 days for 5 times. Then the tank will be clear and I can add fish after the 5th water change. I have done 3 so far. I feed the guppies once a day, about 6 or 7 tiny pellets. I found some of the plants are melting but I also have new ones sprouting. I do find some melted plant particles floating around. The filter is on 24/7 and lights are on for about 4 hrs a day. Am I doing this right?

    Hello brother, i have bought a new 100 liters fish tank with top filter attached.. without the knowledge of water cycling i added can water and let some fishes.. within one week all fishes died and i have even added Molly pair..it didn't survive too..and came to know about the water cycle so i did not add any more fishes..i let the tank run with filter, air pump and heater..its been a week now.. don't know what to do.. Please suggest how to proceed from here..

    • @chennaiaquarium
      @chennaiaquarium  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      karthik chandran turn off the heater. Check if the water is crystal clear.. if its so then do 20% water change and add fish..
      If the water is not crystal clear.. then just add one single fish .. feed it twice n wait for the water to get cycled n then when u think its crystal clear then do 20% water change n add the other fish..
      Keep the heater in 26.. turn it on only during night time

      KARTHIKEYAN PADMANABHAN cloudy water has various reason. If the bacteria colonies are not formed properly. Chances are there for the water to turn cloudy. Any excess food or fish waste can be the cause. If not is there any direct sunlight which hits the tank.

      Thanks

    • @gunaseger
      @gunaseger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ll be testing just the “basic” stuffs like ammonia NO2 NO3
      Iam sure PH will drop if Cycling is completed,Iam using API master test kit

    • @chennaiaquarium
      @chennaiaquarium  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bro ,1) Ph wont drop until the levels of Ammonia is high. So there is no co relation between Ph and completed cycle.2) The reason for adding the API quick start is for instant cycling and adding of fish. API Quick Start allows for the instant addition of fish, as it immediately starts the natural aquarium cycle with
      beneficial bacteria, which converts toxic ammonia into nitrite, then into harmless nitrate to help prevent fish loss in your tank. 3) So i don't really think the test is required if you add any nitrifying bacteria products into your aquarium.
      4) However i have explained in the video though the Products say its instant still wait for a week or more to add the fish.
      5) The test is required when you do Fish cycling and when you don't add any kind of nitrifying bacteria products.
      Thanks

    You have put in the wave maker for this 5ft tank?
    regarding filter.. I am building a 5ft tank at home with help from fish shop owner, to replace my 2.5 ft tank.
    I am planning for an overhead filter like you showed in other video, (but maybe readymade not available in my village area) and there will be 2 large sponge filters. But no canister filter. Can my fish survive?
    I have fish from overcrowded old tank 4 oscars half grown, 2 parrots half grown and 2 dollars fully grown.
    If you say canister filter is a must, which model you suggest for 5ft tank and what will be the filter instruments?
    top filter
    canister filter
    wave maker
    These 3? or sponge filter also??
    I am confused to asking what is minimum filteration required for 5ft tank?

    Hi bro, i have question, If using canister filter with UV so how does the good& bad bacterial growth will be there?In which way the water quality will adapt the fish? Can you please explain about the cycle, That Will be helpful. Thanks

    • @chennaiaquarium
      @chennaiaquarium  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bro this topic is under debate for ages and there are no proven facts.
      According to the books Uv light is meant for 2 purpose. One is control of infections and the other is Algae control.
      When it mentions Control of infections it doesn't mean it will kill BENEFICIAL BACTERIA. UV lights are designed in such a way that it will kill Only the FREE FLOATING BACTERIA which passes through the filter.
      BEBEFICIAL BACTERIA are not free floating they will always be attached to ROCKS and filter media. If in case any beneficial bacteria passes through the UV radiation stage then it will get killed.
      So what we have to do is we can run the UV light for a while and turn off.
      So not many or 100% beneficial bateria gets killed. So there might be some beneficial bacteria and thats more than enough to create millions.
      However i will use UV light only for a while and i dint find any problem in my tank yet.

    Bro how can u say if the water is clear, the bacteria colony is established?? That won't be the right way to identify.. we need to add some ammonia and test it.. this will be the crct approach!!

    • @chennaiaquarium
      @chennaiaquarium  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bro i think you din't watch the video completely.
      If you have watched i would have told i've added API QUICK start and WATERLIFE BACTER.
      The reason for adding the API quick start or BACTER is for instant cycling and adding of fish. API Quick Start allows for the instant addition of fish, as it immediately starts the natural aquarium cycle with
      beneficial bacteria, which converts toxic ammonia into nitrite, then into harmless nitrate to help prevent fish loss in your tank.
      So i don't really think the test is required if you add any nitrifying bacteria products into your aquarium.
      However i have explained in the video though the Products say its instant still wait for a week or more to add the fish.
      The test is required when you do Fish cycling and when you don't add any kind of nitrifying bacteria products.
      However may i know in what form you will add NH3 and what test are you gonna take.

      Wave makers are designed to increase the water current in marine tank.
      But I use it for removing my fish waste by just running 5 min a day to circulate the fish waste on the surface so the fiter can suck it. If its for the same purpose then you can go for 3000l/h capacity

    Now I have a doubt. It's recommended not to introduce any fishes right at the start as there r no beneficial bacteria colony. But isn't ammonia needed initially for the bacteria to thrive. So without fishes how can this done. I do understand there should be some biological activity to create the ammonia.
