I have the same set. I always bring it on my overnight canoe trips. Works great. And you really can’t beat the price of the stanley cooking series.

Have a few of the Stanley products in my camping kit, and this really looks like it would be a good addition to my chuck box to save some weight and shrink some things down even more.

Stanley has brought fry pans a long way from my early days when pans were sticky aluminum and folding handles were unreliable. These days, I really LIKE Stanley's designs and quality.

I too have been shying away from SS frypans because of the uneven heat issues. Looks like I have a nice option to go with my MSR seagull pots...Thanks for the video. Cooking potatoes like you just did is the way I test a good frypan as well..Great job.

I really like my Stanley gear, good quality and lifetime warranty is hard to beat. I use my Mora knives for camping duty, but for food prep I prefer Opinel n°8. It's thin blade slices through food super easily and is quick to resharpen with a Spyderco sharp maker. Thanks for the review, I think it was thorough and fair. I appreciate your service and sacrifice.

Great review! Thank you so much for doing an unboxing and actual use. For measuring, I would turn it over and check the bottom, which is actually the working surface. If you measure from the top, that is just the opening, and not the cooking surface.

I have been holding off buying a skillet. I, like you, like cast iron, but this is really the best of both worlds. Rust proof and even heating. I am sold and thanks for the review!

the extra plate options are always good to have. especially if you have more then one kind of meal to cook. acts as a serving platter etc.

Everything was great, mighty fine pan and you demonstrated/featured it very well. I prefer sea salt and black pepper on my fried potatoes, garlic hides the potato flavor for me and it doesn't go well on my stomach (for HOURS!!!). Enjoyed your well made video, great camera work!

Glad I saw this. I’ve got some smaller/lighter gear for backpacking but this looks great for car camping when I want to keep it simple and not lug my cast iron. Thanks for the thorough review.

Nice video. I've got the Stanley Two Cup Cookset and the French Press and they are great. Most of my other cookware are Trangia but this frypan looks more stout than the thinner Trangia.

You don't see a lot of videos about quality backpacking fry pans. Looks like Stanley has a winner! I carry something very similar . . . the MSR Alpine fry pan. Mine has a piece a aluminum sandwiched unto the bottom of the stainless base for even heat distribution. I have seasoned my stainless as well for no-stick cooking. Thanks for the video.

You really highlighted the pros of this product, and your thorough approach leads me to believe there are few to none cons. Ya know.....I like the look of this set. I cook a nice lunch on most of my hikes and always add fresh garlic at some point. The problem is where to chop it! I don't like to pre chop garlic because it gets funny. The cutting board is great, I'm not looking to prep for 100 people so small is perfect. The plates are a great place to rest food while you prep and cook other items (just gotta keep the dogs out of it). The trivet would be a good pot holder too. It looks like it does cook evenly, which is a problem with most backpacking stoves with a laser flame. Nice review. Svea 123 forever! Subscribed!

dude you used it one time! you can basically only say its great for one time usage and not much more. how is it that the first 3 or 4 comments are always very positive and relatively senseless? is not just you its all the influencers out there.

How do you test heat distribution of frying pan by frying potato? Cooking pancake, bacon or steak would make good heat distribution test.

Nice set indeed sir; however, a couple points to take under consideration... total weight for all 9 pieces is almost 2 & 1/2 lbs.....Stanley products have been Made In China since 2002.

I would have been more impressed if you used bacon grease, to fry the tators.
Also as a trail tip if you save the paper towel you used to clean out the pan, it makes a great fire starter for the next meal.

by the way at 8 : 50 seconds in
    you mention wet water
is there a dry water anywhere?

😆 Dry water? That prompted me to look it up. There actually is such a thing as dry water. It's actually an extremely small droplet of water encased in silica. Looks like table salt. There is also such a thing as heavy water. You don't want to back pack heavy water; too heavy.

Probably only in a dry wine.

Lots of sailors run back and forth over the ship, fetching buckets of steam, on their first voyage at sea!

Yeah. I'm selling dehydrated water for ultralight backpackers.
      1gallon - $4.99. (less than 1/2 oz)
All you have to do is ad water.
