For those traveling from Spokane to Sandpoint, jump off I-90 at Post Falls, and head north to Rathdrum. Skip all the stop-and-go and traffic lights in Coeur d'Alene. If you're going from Sandpoint to places like Glacier Park, the drive on hiway 200 and then 56 to Libby is much more picturesque than US 2 through Bonners Ferry. I'll probably be retiring soon, and Sandpoint is definitely on my short list.
Like most resort towns, it's been flooded with out of state money, ( lots of Californians) , now property is way overpriced, the Sandpoint area, has lost its charm it had years ago.

That is great advice! Traffic can get bad during the summer tourist months.
