  • Turkeys and Chickens are best enjoyed... anywhere but in my garden! We've been dealing with major plant losses to wild turkeys and feral chickens, but figured out how to keep them away without an expensive fence.
In this video, I'll walk you through exactly why you don't want to let turkeys and chickens free roam in your garden and the four small changes we made to our garden space that made a HUGE difference. We'll cover:
    1. Tidying up to make the garden less appealing to turkeys and chickens
    2. Cheap Scarecrow options Turkeys hate
    3. Bird Scare Tape
    4. Removing a kind of mulch chickens go crazy for

Bird tape looks like something my cats would love to play with

Try tightening up the hardware holding your wheel barrow together, it will be less floppy when in use.

Gosh, no kidding. Should have cared for it better. Darn thing is near to pieces at this point!

Great ideas! I use old CDs. Put two together and hang them around. Never heard of the bird tape. Thanks for sharing.

I was so skeptical, but wow. Some combination of these just really made a huge difference this year.

Love these tips and will be implementing some of them...... my chickens love to dig up the wood mulch so that's gotta go first thing! Thanks again!❤

Good luck Karen! Are they your chickens or a wild bunch? I'm in the middle of building a bigger coop for ours =)

No turkeys or chickens but I have a lot of birds. I’ll have to give some of these a shot.

Tried ALL those things, including motion-activated lights, sounds, movements. NOTHING works. Best thing is simply put chicken wire around your ENTIRE GARDEN!!!

That's super frustrating, very sorry to hear it. We've continued to have pretty good luck with these changes but maybes it's just because there are so many easy targets for them in the area.
Glad you found a solution though!

Do you know reflective tape scares away bush turkeys? Its not that cheap where I live so I thought I'd ask first! 😅

I really don't know conclusively! I'm afraid I can just say that this combination of changes (or something else) resulted in a *HUGE* reduction in turkey problems for us even though they were still present in the neighborhood.

It's a tradeoff! My dog would happily defend the garden... Just after he finishes destroying it himself 😁
