- BANANA ISLAND Lagos Nigeria. Whats Inside?? This is Part 3 of my “Whats inside Series” where I visit places and make videos about them.
Banana Island is the most expensive Neighborhood In Nigeria (with close competition from Eko Atlantic city being constructed). It's home to heavyweight Nigerian Billionaires like Linda ikeji, Dangote, and Mike Adenuga.
Property on Banana Island is dollar-denominated. The average cost of buying a three bedroom apartment is $2 million. However, if you’re just looking to hang around the island for some time, and not to buy property, you can rent the same apartment for about $150,000 per annum.
A typical plot of land on the island usually goes for between $4 million and $6 million, and the cheapest building on the island costs upward of $8 million. But because of the ridiculous prices of property on the island, about 60% of the completed buildings are currently unoccupied.

A step forward in housing in Nigeria. But there is no reason why it should carry $55,000 or $150,000 price tag to rent unless you mean to buy outright. Also when filming slow it down as well as pay attention to detail. You could show the roads into the estate slowly and the other details and not just rush a video through. I support you guys doing real estate videos in Nigeria. Well done.

I am US-born to Nigerian parents from the east. I used to spend my summers there as a child, but as an adult it is harder with money, family, taking time off, etc.
I just returned from Nigeria last month after a 10 year absence and now I want my husband and I to go back and live. I spent only 1 day in Lagos so I have been watching your videos to learn and see more. I am not sure whether I would settle there or somewhere else, but I'm going back in December to figure out.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Last time I was there it was not that developed. I used to ride my bike on Sundays from Eleganza, sit down by the lagoon overlooking 3rd mainland bridge and just enjoy the quiet. I guess the fallow land where I used to chill is where those beautiful apartment buildings now stand.
Lagos has been blessed with great governors who continued each other's projects. That is what Nigeria in general needs - good leaders.

I've seen better places in Enugu state, let alone abroad. For that huge price tag, the interior and exterior (playgrounds, parks, etc) should be in immaculate condition.

Expensive, but certainly world class. Think home Africa.
My passion is real estate and I'm always looking out for videos from Nigeria and all of Africa. A way to showcase a country. But don't allow greedy foreign developers or Nigerian developers to hype up things and over charge on housing that should be standard elsewhere. The furniture looks dated but I like the height of the buildings and colours.

Although, this video didn't show much of the general infrastructure in banana Island, I can tell from the little I saw that this place is not all that. It's not just about beautiful buildings biko....the general road aesthetics, landscaping and amenities of a neighbourhood defines its "richness". Lagos sha just like hyping things that are not worth it.
