Kung Fu Panda - Oogway Ascends (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
Some have asked for it, finally it's done. For me personally, the track "Oogway Ascends" is the highlight of the Kung Fu Panda soundtrack, although the whole soundtrack has so many other great themes. I also like that my two favorite film composers Hans Zimmer and John Powell (who also composed for "How To Train Your Dragon") worked on this music together. In the original, the track "Oogway Ascends" is shorter, because its theme is repeated only once. I decided to extend the piece a bit (you will hear the theme four times) and make it even more virtuosic in the second part. I hope you enjoy it.
The next video will be again with music by Hans Zimmer: "Discombobulate" from Sherlock Holmes.

So, just a few months ago, a friend of mine dropped out of college and since then, I've been asking myself if I shouldn't do the same thing... It was harsh, I was questioning if I was capable of carrying on, if my dream of graduating was strong enough to keep me in there.
Well, among the japanese piano playlist i've put to help me with my japanese architecture work, this song reminded me about what Oogway said about futures, pasts and presents. And this really helped me to snap out of that anxiety.
I'm sharing this because I want to say to whoever reads this, if you're are going through harsh times, never forget that each day is truly a gift. I want you to never doubt yourself because you're tired, or anxious ou confused. Believe in you, in your dreams, believe in the strength you had to reach this far, believe in the hope you have for better days. Believe in yourself buddy, the sun may not shine on all days, but everyday we can feel its warmth.
I did go through the same thing. I dropped out of my master's degree from the most prestigious university of my country. I started to doubt myself and just couldn't go on. Right after that, I immensely regretted my decision, thinking I should've held on a little longer. I don't know how to cope up with this depression now.

Thanks to you and your transposition of this piece, I was able to play this at a wedding on a 100+ yr old piano. I still can't do the 16th notes, but I rewrote the ending so I could play the ending even though I couldn't handle the hard part yet. Love this song. I've been working on this one for a month or so. To those who don't play the piano, the most difficult thing on this one isn't the speed on the right hand - it's bringing out the MELODY which is interlaced in between the left hand and the speedy arpeggios on the right hand.

@@lsqueezy2171 Well obviously it will take a long time and a shitload of practice, but that shouldn't discourage you if you truly want to play this piece.
Oogway didn't have much screen time before he died, but still when he died, we all felt sad.
That is why this character needs a movie of his own.

I feel like this song takes me on such a journey through Oogway’s life. Like from when he was first born, to growing up, to mastering Kung fu and all the battles he had, to the moment he met Po and then his slow but not sad realisation that his life is coming to the end. The powerful ending makes it seem like he’s not really gone he’s just having a great adventure somewhere else, he didn’t die of old age he went out with a bang, I mean who else gets to disappear among the petals of a cherry blossom tree but the great master of Kung fu?

A week into learning this piece. Starting 1:29 is so impressive to me. I can arpeggiate just fine, however getting the main theme notes to sound hard, and the other notes soft is extremely difficult! All power to you Sir Patrick :)
I just replied with my own comment then clicked below and saw yours which is nearly identical. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has a hard time bringing out the melody while simultaneously tearing up the arpeggios! My upright piano doesn't have the dynamic range that I need to really bring it out.
Yesss same here , I do recommend trying different inversions tho , this one is unbelievably well made and the dynamics are just OP

Just learn the notes first, and so well that you can do it without thinking, then focus on the firmness of which keys to press and other “beauty” elements.
At least personally that’s how I do it.
Now that I look back on the movie since I watched it as a kid I now realize how many life lessons and amazing quotes there are in this movie. I think overall the movie has made me a better person.
