When I win, I am choosing not to disclose it to anyone. It is a private matter and nobody else's concern. My focus is on completing my education and quietly preparing for my retirement. I think making it public is one of the worst decisions lottery winners make.

You will also be taxed inheritance tax when you leave the money to someone after your death. Beyond that, we don't tax lottery wins, so If the lottery is 100mil, you get the whole 100mil.

I always say if you win a lot of money (millions) you should either keep it 100% secret; move away; tell everyone and give your money away; or tell nobody and accept you’re gonna be alone. I personally wouldn’t want to be everyday friends with someone who wins millions and I’m broke making $50K a year. I might be struggling and I wouldn’t even be able to vent to that friend because they might assume I want something from them.
