Tough call. I’d probably rather pick up an original and add the few things that I want. The gas block alone would’ve been a game changer a couple years ago, but now we have Huxwrx and others that we can run on the MR556 as is. Little things like the no detent pins would be nice, but hard to justify. We’ll see what street price is.
I like a lot of what they did with this one, curious to see what the street prices are in 6 months to a year. Not a fan of that giant HK billboard advertisement on the side of the handguard though. They're in Stribog territory with that. Agree with your sentiments about the safety selector. I usually run ambi's selectors on all my ar's, but the right side is always a half length/low profile version. Non-chrome lined barrel is a plus in my mind, accuracy will be better. Thank you for the video sir!
Thanks for your comments and be sure to see my next video just posted as I discovered an issue with the 45 degree safety and after mkt trigger fitment!
@@jony2450well, I don’t have any info to offer as to why they decided on the retained screw instead…..I do know some of those handguards are making their way here so if you prefer that method you could always swap to the handguard of your choice
Is this rifle officially for sale, or just announced? I called multiple H&K dealers near me and none knew about it. I own both a LWRC Di and MR556A1 and the H&K is hands down the favorite.
That doesn't look like an A2 style compensator, but a true bird cage (open on all sides). As such, there is no point in timing it, so no need for a crush washer. The crush washer just lets you torque it with the closed side facing down; this muzzle device does not have one.
Yes, my only initial take was it wasn't going to be an easy swap for the avg joe as opposed to a device with a crush washer......using heat really seems to throw many off!!! Thanks for sharing!
this gun isn't "first class" like you said at the end, HK compromised on giving US civilians chrome lining (that comes standard on Euro MR223s), and is now trying to bandaid that with a lifetime warranty instead of addressing the real problem. Huge disappointment.
Lmfao show me the forums where these barrels are the problem. Hahaha you sounds like a moron. The fact you are talking about chrome lining like HK barrels are dying at 2k rounds is crazy. Yall don’t even shoot enough to hit their 12k barrel test or the 20k barrel mark where ALL HK barrels make it. Not to mention they eat whatever ammo given. You sound uneducated and salty cause you are a poor.
Its a guaranteed 1 moa at 100 yards that's extremely good especially on a piston system gun. You cant get that type of accuracy with a chrome lined barrel. Also the barrel will more than likely outlive us as shooters, HK only shot 12k rounds through it and it didn't compromise on that 1 moa at 100 yards with a 10 shot group, just saying.
Hey brother, I know you know what you're talking about and I really like what you're doing here. And it's totally not up to me to tell you how to make money on TH-cam. If I did, I'd tell you to invest in better video and audio equipment, and do a freakishly better job at blocking your shots (because these aren't good). But that's not why I'm commenting. I'm commenting to talk about the substance of your copy/opinion: If we pay $4k for an AR, we aren't waiting for a company to replace the barrels when we shoot them out. That's not what a serious work gun is, and that's why we're pissed about the lack of chrome. And other things. It will outlast anything on the market, or it's worth a thousand dollars, just like all the rest, not 4. My name's Mike, and I've also got Phil Singleton's signature on some papers. I don't put them on my wall and film them for people, because that would be a bit embarrassing (HK Basic Operator's Course Instructor '89-'02). Also known as an old fart.
Ok Mike, thanks for commenting! First of all and to be honest, I don't make these videos to benefit from monetization and the $3 a video might make over 3 years because if I needed that I'd be in real bad shape!!!!! Second, my videos aren't done with a studio mindset for monetization or the idea to massively grow an audience as I'm not a TH-camr. My videos are done by me and made to help others on their HK journey as I love my hobby.....HOBBY......I have no interest in spending my money to help commenters like this enjoy the audio better to add worthless content via their comments!!!!!......I've had countless interactions with HK lovers and have now literally helped thousands of people. I enjoy that. You say you comment to talk about my substance but I can't currently find much substance to your comment. I think your price remark and barrel remark show a lack of HK knowledge and hopefully my videos will help you. MSRP for example is quite different than where the will land. Third, I'm glad you have met Phil and if you feel I should be embarrassed with the way I decorate my workshop then I really don't understand you but appreciate your opinion and commenting. Best wishes

Will that buffer tube take standard ar15 stocks or hk propriotary stocks only due to elongated castle nut? Thx
Mil Spec buffer tube so grab your favorite! Stock will collapse to the castle nut...no issue
