The next day she came back knocking at my door, she gave me back my umbrella with a note written by her granddaughter because the lady didn't speak my language ( French ), it was a really sweet thank you note for helping her grandma. I thought it was very touching.☔️ 😊

Its a different country. US doesnt quite teach the its kids to reapect their elders the same way Asians do (it annoyed me a lot when highschoolers talked back to their teachers so rudely, because if I did that at home, I’d get an earful and maybe even a handful). But that also teaches Americans to be more independent and able to rebel against what they think is right/wrong. Its a free country. Yes, there’s racism, yes there are shootings, sometimes discrimination seems so isolating and suffocating. But the people I’ve met throughout my 25 years here, are kind genuine souls. They have different opinions, but most respect. The places i’ve lived in, I can walk around at midnight and not worry about being mugged/raped/harmed (esp. as a woman). Because its a relatively new nation, the air is clean and the population density is low. There is a good infrastructure, doesnt quite have the same soul as the beautiful back alleys in the old countries like India/China or anywhere in Europe, but that comes with time. Long story short: America is no more a sh*thole then anyother country in the world. Media’s depiction makes things seem worse than they actually are

We should always look after our elders and show them the respect they deserve. In Asian countries this is second nature and it’s great to see, unfortunately it’s not always the same in western countries.. 8 times out of 10, it's usually a middle class or poor person who helps out another such person in need. I have nothing against rich folks, just saying what I've observed in life.
Rich people may do elaborate charity work, but it's the folks much more closer to ground that help you in such dire situations.

My dad migrated from China with his family to Australia. He and my mom worked 2 jobs to support us. It was a very hard struggle for him and my mom. But they succeeded in raising their children. Now, we all have our own successful careers and businesses, we give back to them at every opportunity. This is how we were brought up and its part of our culture. On top of that, I donate 10% of my earnings every year to charities and people less fortunate than myself.
This is how the world should be.
