Do you need new shock mounts as well? New ones are available and are much thicker than originals to prevent bending and breakage. Correct shocks are essential, too long on compression or too short on extension will bend the plates then they beat the control arm's spring seat until the mounting tabs break out.

The bottom shock absorber mounts broke pieces out the lower control arms on my 1953 Hornet. Both sides.
So, the lower control arm's spring seats have the mounting tabs broken out also? I have a pair of left and right lower control arms.
