      I've been to Hamburg once, Frankfurt 3 times. I'd like to see Berlin but Frankfurt is lovely. I hear Berlin is more affordable though.

    I plan to move to Heilbronn, Germany when I retire from the USPS. why Heilbronn, I was stationed there at Wharton Barracks when in the mid 80's and enjoy my time there; I have also travel to other cities in Germany but Heilbronn will always be my first choice, Any Ideas for me.

      I’m younger, grew up in the Ramstein area due to dad being a military contractor, I definitely want to move back, looking for a job on UsaJobs, I knew people I worked with on base at the Exchange who worked part time on base to be able to stay supported.

    wow. that was very unhelpful. I feel like the only thing I learned here was if I want to move to germany i should be a freelancer, student, or doctor. I really was hoping for more details on how to live there.

      Thank you for your feedback. What kind of information were you looking for? Most people are interested in knowing what their visa options are since that getting a visa is the main obstacle to moving to Germany.

      How about retirees? My wife is German but gave up her Passport for an American one 12 yrs ago. I’m a fully retired veteran and 54. I make military retirement, SSD and VA comp pay. I make excellent money every month the rest of my life. I know my pay will go MUCH farther in Germany than here in the States. I lived in Stuttgart for two years and Heidelberg for 3 years when I served. Met my wife in Heidelberg.

      @@darksideofthemoon7332I moved to Germany in '22 after taking a job with DeCA. After 1.5 years working for them, I left because like you, I have retirement income from my service. I applied for and got a temporary residence to live here. Unlike you, I don't have a German wife. I am sure (because I heard) your wife can reclaim her citizenship without problem. I hope you and your family are able to move back to Germany if you haven't already. 🫡

      @@daisyalicia we’ll first you need to decide which city is best for you. Get a job offer/invitation. Then look for places to live in that city . They have flats for rent with furniture ready to go. Then find one that allow expats like ourselves to move in. I say that because some others have restrictions. Then once you have your place buy a plane ticket and fly out there. Once you arrive you need to go register at the local citizens office where you will inform them who you are and where you live. Also you need to open a German bank. (Probably not in this order of things I haven’t figured that out yet ) After that you can get a residence visa and your done

    How long does the process take to move. I'd like to move by the end of this year and I am going to talk to a immigration consultant about starting the process. I'm receiving help getting into an internship program and I have a place to live but I'm scared of the process. Do I have to wait long to move? I really want to move by July or August. I have a passport, birth certificate, and I'll have a few thousand saved by then but I'll be asking about what I need with the consultant.

    Moving to Germany, what items will I not be able to buy there that I should consider bringing? I'm wondering about skin and hair products, medicines and supplements. And well as everyday items.

    • @wora1111
      @wora1111 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      German guy answering: Be prepared for some surprises! Germans take a lot less supplements, they simply eat better food to start with. Medicine is handled by the Healthcare system which is said to be better than the American Health business. do not bring any 110V appliances. Depending on your skin color it might be a good idea to bring one month's worth of supply until you know which shops in your new town offer your preferred stuff. And knowing some German (say A1 or better A2) should be obvious, should it not? You would not want to be the stupid American who does not speak the local language when everyone around you (the Chinese, the Turkish, the Greeks, the Italian and the Arabs) easily does it.

    My great grandparents lived in Germany and left before the war does any citizenship or visa apply here ? Do you know any information n on it ?

    • @sindbad8411
      @sindbad8411 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, grandparents that left during 20th century should make it easy. You may want to check "The Black Forest family" which is a US couple from the midwest that lives in Freiburg south west Germany. Recently, Ashton the wife who does most of the video works changed the channels name to Type Ashton. They live in Freiburg for several years, build a house and got two kids.
      Don't be shy and google for info on the web in English too.
      right now, a simple test search string "immigration to Germany from the US German grandparents" brought up plenty of official pages with lots of information

    So would it be hard to get a Workers Visa if i wanted to be a mechanic, and would this process be easier if i have dual citizenship?

    • @sindbad8411
      @sindbad8411 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently a lot of regulations and laws are changing re, immigration to Germany. And many things will be or are much easier already. TH-cam is good place to start some research as there many dozen US immigrant channels adressing exactly that question. Just try different terms and combinations of it and paste into the YT search bar

    • @wora1111
      @wora1111 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dual citizenship (I.e. including Deutsch) and a decent knowledge of the local language help a lot. If you want to start a Ausbildung as a Mechaniker (cars, heating, plumbing, bakery, , ...) things will become even easier, once you found a place to start your Ausbildung. There is a lot of demand, usually in smaller companies of 3-10 people
