So if i receive cp3219a i dont specifically have to file a petition in tax court, right? I can send mail pr fax documents in response.. is my understanding correct?

Hey Anthony! I’m in the process of becoming an EA myself; just primarily focusing on tax and no accounting. How can I get myself more familiar with these forms and documents you go over?

Hey Tommy, working for a company that deals with tax preparation and tax debt would be the best way to get more familiar with these forms.

One question, can we track the case online after we respond to IRS? Or just call them and get the status update is the only option?

Instead of responding to the notice, why amend the return?

Unfortunately we respond to the notice instead of amending because it is the process the IRS has created and wants us to follow. If you amend the return, I believe you will run into issues because the "underreporting unit" is handling your case. You only amend the return when you receive a CP2000 if there is a an issue you want to address that is not on the CP2000
