Winter time camping is the bees knees! Grab yourself a proper hot tent/wood stove setup and it will quickly become your favorite camping season! Give me a shout if you are ever in pa/wv. Thanks again for bringing us Ali g for the journey.

Trevor: Thanks for watching. Have you used the wood stove in a tent? What brand do you recommend for both the stove and tent or do they have packages? Thanks

I have a Ellis canvas tents Shackleton tent and a smaller tipi style nylon one from luxe outdoors as well. I use a large winnerwell stove inside both. There are definitely companies that offer package deals as well. I think springbar and Kodiak canvas both offer package deals as well as Seek Outside. I’m planning on getting a lightweight setup from seek outside for backpacking and bike packing for next year.

I fit a Gazelle T4 in my Jeep TJ. I put it in diagonal with one end between the passenger head rest and the window. And the other end on the driver side in the corner just above the tailgate. I can also strap it on top of the spare tire to a rack I have. The tent is a game changer for me.

    • @rubiconmatt
      @rubiconmatt  ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed! Plus you also have a base camp end not have to shut down a rooftop tent and maintain all that weight while out overlanding. Thanks for watching God Bless!

@@rubiconmatt Most of my camping I like having a base camp to come back too.
Also I run Currie Antirock and really feel the body roll. In fact if I'm running a harder trail like the Rubicon I pull the top, my spare tire and tailgate cargo rack. The Jeep just performs so much better like that. Going up Cadillac hill in the rain you'll be glad you did 😝

Do you use it in a ground tent or a rooftop tent or ? I have seen some of the overlanders I follow using them. I have seen several where you get into high elevations they don't work or clog up. But other than that it would be a game changer for cold weather camping long trips. Thanks for sharing! God bless!

Love your videos in my home state. Try a simple foil meal on the fire u won't be disappointed coming from a boy scout and a jeep owner. 👍👍

Hey sounds good, provide me a good recipe! Half chicken bone in, onion, green pepper, seasoning. Wrap up in foil and put in the red coals? How many wraps of foil should I use to protect it? Thanks for watching and I will try that!

Another great video Matt. I look forward to them. In addition to venting to combat the condensation build up, you might look into UCO Candle Lanterns, if you haven't already. Candle lanterns produce heat which helps to reduce condensation.
I spent 6 years in Alaska bouncing between Anchorage and the North Slope, so my preference is absolutely on the cold side. Having said that, I do admit to having a winter liner for my tent. I kept my cold weather gear from Alaska, but it never gets anywhere near cold enough in Ohio to wear it. I just like having it to remind me of great times.
Keep the videos and inspirations coming, they are much appreciated.

    • @rubiconmatt

Thanks for sharing that information, I have been to Alaska only once for work but did drive around and saw a glacier and unbelievable scenery!!! That would be a dream to go back and overland and camp!!! I have a question for you. This last video I had condensation, I went again this past weekend and it was colder and I had no condensation at all!! I thought maybe since there was a breeze It kept the air flowing through my vents in the tent. It got down to 32. What do you think? I had the same amount of venting. Just wonder what you think. My last trip I just went on (no video yet), I found a great spot to camp, then when I went overlanding I found a really great spot. I am going to confirm if it is in Wayne National Forest and a dispersed site. I did find a stone fire ring. I will work to get the video out sometime after Christmas. God Bless!

    • @dennislee505

@@rubiconmatt The wind creating better ventilation could definitely be part of the answer. Increasing airflow indoors as a way to move the hot/cold air out before the dewpoint (100% humidity) is reached is one method HVAC techs use to control/prevent condensation.
On your recent trip did you heat the tent? I ask because you say the temp dropped to 32. Condensation forms between 32 to 212 degrees F. If was slightly below 32 that might explain the absence of condensation.
If you have a friend that works in HVAC they would be able to give you better answers as I am no condensation pro.
If you decide to return to Alaska let me know I can give you some must sees and dos.

your body gives off about a pint of water each night plus a byproduct of combustion on your heater is water vapor. the icicles were on the inside of the rain fly so all the water came from inside of your tent.
