Once I got my MEPC I realized how much better it was than the Slickster I had. I originally thought it was a knock off of the Slickster but it's definitely better
Also, their ankle ifak is great. I wear it literally every day, and have for ... About 6 months now. No issues or complaints really. I love it, it's great. More people need to carry it imo
The old version of the kangaroo pouch had 7 columns of molle and held 3 m4 mags inside. They probably changed it due to complaints about the odd number of columns, not sure why they made the pocket smaller though, kinda weird. There are a lot of small tweaks that defense mechanisms has made to various products in the last couple years. Much of the info in the video I made about it (on Grizzly Legs' channel) is now outdated, and many of the small issues have been solved.
Before March of 22 (which this carrier is) only fit upto 1” thick plates and backers. Since then it now fits upto 1.2” and has been lengthened to fit the full plate inside without exposed Velcro
Your channel is growing massively, congrats on 7k subs and all these views so shortly on uploading. I do wish they find a way to incorporate more shoulder padding. Even the JPC/SPC series can do more because of the design of the shoulder straps, so it's possible to add on good aftermarket pads.
I've found that thinner plates allow the plate retention flaps to fully close but agree that makers should be accommodating appropriately sized, SAPIs for folks that need them. I think the MEPC is a solid alternative to folks looking for a "build up" type carrier that they can customize to their liking. If you're looking for a complete carrier, other options are available that price out similarly and tend to have additional features. I also agree that if you can get the molle rear panel that there's no reason not to get it especially since it's molle loop velcro to begin with. ID patches go on just fine and it gives you more options. Solid video as always.
I was looking for a slickster from 2018-2020 and could never find one in stock. then I found the molle back panel version and just gave up on finding one. I'm glad I waited, clearly the guys that built this felt the same way I did and clearly built a better product
Ive been running the MEPC and the LCP along with 2 of their roc cummerbunds and placard wrap system. Plate bags are decent, my problem is the stitching used to connect the ROC buckles to the molle portion of the cummerbund as I have had that stitching come loose on both and have had to repair in order to confidently use. Retention on the mags from the placard is great, but with the wrap system there isn't a way to connect say first spear tubes to the side which leaves you with 2 columns of molle loss between the placard and the molle of the cummerbund. I am still testing the LCP but one thing I have noticed is the straps are nice and thick, but are straight with a thick straight bar on the back to connect them which might have been the culprit of digging into my neck with a ruck. Overall some hits and misses but stuff is pretty decent.
I have a MEPC. I actually sold my JPC for in exchange for the MEPC, and that may seem crazy but it just had more benefits that fit my use case. I really like the MEPC, and when I inspected the stitching it seemed super solid (especially for a newer company on the market), although I'm super curious on how well the carrier holds up over time - I always try to be as objective as possible with kit, so I always heed peoples complaints, but all of this carriers detriments don't really affect me. nice review, keep it up!
I just put my order in for the there mepc and Placard wrap. Also not the do a shamelessly plug but minute men apparel has a front admin pouch to the equivalency of half of a spiritus systems mk4. It’s sick. I got a code if y’all need. Much love fish!
Hey man, great videos. I am new to the scene and am looking to get my first plate carrier. I am leaning towards the defense mech MEPC. In your opinion, could I have separate plates for different situations in the same carrier. Ie have level IV for standard carrier set up; but at different times use thinner level II or III plates and wear it more concealed under a hoody? Or do I need 2 completely different set ups? I am average size 5'10, 170lbs, relatively fit. TY for your time
Looks like I've narrowed it down to the mepc and the plate carrier 13 from wtf. Thoughts or opinions? I don't really a justification to drop a lot of money on a carrier besides just general training.
@@EODFish just watched your review on it. Seems like a great choice. Do the mag pouches interface with WTF's velcro set up? I've got a chest rig based around the panel 38, and some cross compatibility would be excellent.
“Fairly budget friendly”? The pockets, placard and a TQ side holder was about $270. Not sure that falls in line with “budget” plate carriers. I can get a shellback tactical for half that
I own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.
DM came out with their carrier around the time when JPC's and slicksters were out of stock. Alot of people had no other option, unless they wanted to wait for a 6-8 month backorder on crye products. Given some people like the thing, it's just not for me. The only people I see who have this, are the type of people who post on reddit bashing other peoples choices of gear, but then asking for input and what to use/do. So I've come to associate the carrier with those types of people. Thank you for the videos
They have some backing outside of the turbo nerds. I guess I didn’t know if you saw a problem with them or if you legitimately only saw them in the hands of nerds.

Thanks sir! The design doesn’t interface with pads the same as many other rigs but you could still get pads on there fairly easily.

What is your favorite low vis plate carrier and your favorite heavy duty one?
I have two. The medium has a hard time fitting medium plates.
How does the MEPC compare to the Ferro slickster? Which one do you prefer?
Purely subjective but I prefer the Ferro.
@EODFish can you provide the details on why you prefer the Slickster over MEPC? Would love to see you make a comparison video. Thanks!
So is this one you’d recommend? Looking at this and the OTTE Gear.

If you are buying two sets of plates, I bet you could combine the funds and find one that fills both needs.
The larger plate bags cover just fine. I wouldn't buy a medium, as the large works great.
on paper this PC is My IDEAL rig. after seeing it here, I am happy I went ESSTAC daeodon.

I had a mepc and sold it after a week or so because of my lack of faith in the platebag closures. 😑
It’s a glaring issue in a lot of plate bags unfortunately. What’s worse is the fix should be essentially free if accounted for in the original build.
