Thank you, Gilles. I just ordered mine. Whenever I am thinking about buying a new radio, I first check to see if you've done a review on it. If your review is negative, I don't buy it. I agree 100% with your reviews on everything that I bought that you have done a review on! Thanks again for all your help.

I have a computer, a smartphone, and a tablet, and I still like to use these Internet radio devices. They’ve not just for older or elderly people who don’t know how or don’t like to use computers. There are some tech aspects to them also, and it’s nice to have a standalone, radio-like device that can connect to your network and the Internet. What does the back of yours look like, Giles? Does it have RCA jacks or a USB port? If it has RCA jacks, it can probably be hooked up to a stereo system or a home theater system for better sound quality. If it has a USB port, you could probably charge your phone with it too or maybe even hook up a regular sized hard drive for local music storage. Since these newer ones have USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity, they’ll still be quite useful, even if all of those online aggregators go down. You might even be able to save the streaming URLs of radio stations in playlist files (.M3U) and put them on a USB stick. If you do that, you might be able to play the radio stations through the radio’s media player feature. it works that way on my Grace Digital Mondo Elite Classic, of course you don’t really need to do it that way right now since the online aggregators are still up, but it’s nice to know that you can do it. you can also access some radios through the network discovery feature on your PC. I can do this with mine, and I have full control over it that way. some other makes and models like those from Ocean Digital let you use your PC’s network discovery feature to add more station URLs. I know your channel is primarily a shortwave Radio channel, and I like shortwave radio too. I always have. It’s the reason why I got interested in Internet streaming in the first place, but I have cerebral palsy and I use a wheelchair and I live with family. I don’t feel like I have the space or resources to put up a proper outdoor shortwave antenna. So, streaming is the next best thing, I am of Greek descent, So it’s nice to be able to hear the Voice of Greece, and all of ERT’s domestic networks just as clear as if they were local FM stations in my area. I feel like the sky is the limit with these types of devices! i’m not always able to make it for your live shortwave listening streams. I often forget, But I am subscribed to your channel and I watch your pre-recorded videos regularly as you release them. Thank you, Giles! keep up the good work!

I've still got my Logitech Squeezebox radio and I've still got a Squeezebox server running. It still can't be beat for great sound in a small box.

This doesn't appeal much to me but my mom might get a ton of mileage out of it. I'd probably have to set the various stations up for her, but once done, assuming the UI is pretty straightforward, she could listen to her favorite online radio stations. She does that in her upstairs office on her computer but has no access to anything like that on her first floor. I've tried to get her to use BT speakers and such and it never sticks. This might be the solution that clicks. Thanks for showing this off. Not your usual content but much appreciated!

From what I can hear on the video, the audio quality from this device sound very warm and rich. I have multiple Sangean products that I use regularly (WFR-28C) and the audio and build quality is also quite good. As is almost always the case; you get what you pay for!

Actually the audio is defaulted too loud you can improve the sound quality by going to the equalizer setting turning off the loud and adjusting your bass and Tribble

love it, love the sound after eliminate loudness and adjusting full treble and bass in the middle, i did not expect it to be so good.

The key to have it sound good is really to tweak the EQ, once set ..it is amazing...I love it

@@OfficialSWLchannel it is also important to replace it in the right posiition ( that it will have a little space from the wall or a big one ) and in alittle\medium room , and it us beautifull

Nothing beats the sangean sound (I own the WR-11 & 12), but the software on this device seems to be a little outdated. Thanks a lot for this indepth review!

I have a couple of similar radios myself and enjoy using them. The only big drawback is if the portal that these radios use (sometimes called the aggregator) closes you are left with an expensive brick, the radio simply won't function. This happened with the Reciva portal a few years back I believe the earlier Sangean WiFi radios used Reciva and will not now function.

Not with this radio if the service fails you could add stations using the audio feed URL from the station's website directly on the radio so I don't see it being a brick as he say

      Adding url not easy.

I assume it has memory presets but you didn’t mention that. If it was programmed with favourites you could dispel with the smartphone (iPhone for me) and just call up the station as it would be a stand alone unit. Correct Gilles?

I think a stand-alone device is good. As some times you are tired and just want a device you turn on and work. There also good for those less tech-savvy as long as you've got someone to set it up.
I've got a DAB radio but find some of the broadcasts low quilty, and tend to stream them off the internet as they are better quality. Capital Dance is 24kbps! It's DAB+, but still sounds like a telephone call!

I wonder if you can add an app like Radio Browser so you can listen to broadcastify scanner feeds. I’m able to do that on my Echo.

It’s not like my shortwave radio, that’s for sure. But I do enjoy listening to certain stations that are available, like the BBC or RNZ Pacific. I can search and find things I like. The fidelity is certainly worthy, but if the internet goes down, well, back to the shortwave. But I still like your review of this product. Depends on how much it costs, I may be buying one. I really don’t like using my phone for music. What’s the aggregator on this device?

I think these radios are gradually losing support. Bbc stations may no longer be supported in mid 2023. Grace digital pulled the support on its earlier platform. Many of radio stations can’t be listened to in the frontier nuvola because of regional restrictions +/- lack of device support. They are of course fantastic devices invented by smart people.

Too bad that Sangean won’t let you use a Bluetooth keyboard directly to the radio itself, instead of using a second device. I will just stick with my IPAD hooked up my stereo system or headphones.
