- Just need to clarify two things to you all. Those of you who still think Blackout is a simulation, it's not. Treyarch confirmed it. Also the 'archetypes' are not clones nor AI they're just the people who have been revived by Savannah, we know this now because in Battery's backstory Savannah tells Crash she can bring her back even if she dies.
(Yes there are still many unanswered questions in Black Ops 4, such as where Section is and how Savannah has revived people. Hopefully the next game will clear things up more)

Black ops 4 and 3 only connect to zombies and zombies is its own along with project blackout, after the project failed the events of advanced warfare begin and after the faliure of atlas then coalesence was no.1. Black ops 4, advanced warfare exo zombies and black ops 3 (formally) set the stage for a new zombies. The aether story ends but this timeline continues, it all originates with weaver.

1) As Karol Clark stated, they've been through Hell and back on so many occasions, a bond like SGT Woods and Mason can't be broken.
2) Woods is too much of a badass to do such to his brother in arms
3) Woods and Mason both clearly know (due to events that occured in previous Black Ops campaigns) what the seriousness is behind the statement "No One Gets Left Behind", which in turn that Woods would've helped Mason catch up to speed on the current situation before anything else.

1 - So Mason and Woods are back, revived by Savannah Mason (Daughter of David Mason) but also Menendez is back. But what if Mason is in the wheel chair because of all the things that happend to him in Vorkuta? He seems to have some flashbacks from his missions back in the Cold War. Maybe Woods is trying to help him rather than control him.
2 - All the events from Black Ops 2 went wrong, and it was all in Mason's mind, a side effect of being revived, plus all the shit he had on his mind.
3 - Maybe Project Blackout is to try and do the same thing like what the Soviets did to Mason, a Project to control people or at least some specific individuals. Maybe that's why Woods is helping Savannah, but Mason's mind is resisting, just like Steiner said in Black Ops 1.
Anyway, maybe like Zombies in the next maps Treyarch will give us more information about this.

If Jessica is the daughter of David Mason than Savannah has to also be the daughter of David Mason as Savannah and Jessica are sisters.
Number 3 actually makes sense. Stiener said Mason was atypical and was a hard person to brainwash, even mentioning there were better test subjects then him. Steiner failed actually, so i dont think Mason was fully brainwashed by Woods. Instead, like the Resnov story, he is thinking he is Woods. But if he breaks it down like Mason did in BO1 all of his lost memory could come back to life.

From what I heard from the comment sections, like seriously, I read some crazy shit. This whole thing and the black out project is the Battle Royal mode and all the characters like Reznov, Woods, Alex etc. the one who past away, Savannah, a trilionaire who brought them back by taking a sample of their DNA and clone them of a AI version of them in a computer simulation, and that simulation is the Blackout. Another theory is that all those crazy shit is happening in Mason head, and he's like getting delusional. Others say that Masin was Frank Woods in BO2 campaign, and Mason was the one in the box, the one mission when Masin rescued woods with Agent Hudson, but that was Mason the whole time. All of these are theories. Take everything a grand of salt. I'm just gonna wait for Treyarch to release a campaign in a dlc, or wait till they make a announcement about the whole cluster fuck story. This shit is getting too ridiculous. I wish the story ended at Bo2, or they should've make a sequel for Bo2 with David Mason and Harper.

From what i can piece together, this is the story of Black Ops 4:
Before 2025, David Mason is already married and had 2 kids, Jessica and Savannah. Savannah becomes a trillonaire while Jessica follows her father's footsteps, becoming a soldier. At some point before 2043, Savannah discovers a way to bring back the dead to life, and she uses it to revive her grandfather and his best friend, Frank Woods. However, the technology is presumably not perfect and it fucked up Woods' and Mason's personalities, causing Woods to lose his moral compass and reactivated the brainwashing program in Mason's head, leaving him in a trance like state. After that, for some reason, Savannah initiated a supposedly illegal research, which is Project Blackout that involves dropping people into a warzone that is constantly shrinking because of a weapon. Sometime after this, Savannah perfects his dead revival technology and uses it to bring back Raul Menendez. Along the way, Woods started dating Savannah while Menendez becomes her partner in Project Blackout. However, Savannah's sister, Jessica, now a US special Forces Soldier, discovers everything she has been doing and threatened her to reveal her project to the public. Menendez persuades Savannah to hire mercs to kill her, but she refuses to do it because she is still her sister. However, in 2043, Jessica has a military operation, and (presumably) Menendez founds out about this Op and compromised the Op, which results in her entire team getting killed/injured including herself, with the exception of Donnie "Ruin" Welsh. But somehow, Jessica survived and goes into hiding. Savannah also knows that she is still alive and started to secretly killing people that are associated to her, which is the specialists we play as in Black Ops 4, but she failed to do so. Running out of options because it's only a matter of time before Jessica finds a hard proof of her secret project, presumably Woods or Menendez or herself came up with the idea to use his grandfather, Mason, to kill Jessica by utilizing the brainwash program, and they did it. Woods starts to implement the program by replacing Mason's memories with Woods' memories. At the same time, the associates of Jessica Mason unites to wage war against Savannah.
So honestly i think they have laid a good foundation for a story here, and not gonna i think i kinda liked it, but if only they made an actual campaign out of this. However, if there is a campaign in bo5 or something else, i think it would be the Specialists fighting Woods, Mason, Menendez, and Savannah as the bad guys, which i think it's pretty cool. Let me know your guys thoughts and correct me if i missed something

No there isn't. There's a thing called Specialist HQ that is training for each of the specialists in the game. When completing one specialist, you get the clip of their backstory and the events in present day which is Savannah and all. When you complete them all, you get that scene where Woods is talking to Mason in the wheelchair.
There is nothing relative to a campaign.
It has a story, not a campaign
There is no CAMPAIGN mode.

Yeah no, I'm still lost. Can someone please explain the whole story line of Black Ops 1 to 4? I don't understand, to me, there's just Mason, Woods, numbers and some newly introduced characters.

Waw- 19WW2 We are introduced to Resnov and his comrades (mainly dmitri). That's what you need to know.
Bo1- 1960-1980 The CIA is interigating an agent, Alex Mason, about what certain numbers mean that has been implanted into his head. He begins by telling the interigator how he got caught by Dragovich; an evil Russian. Dragovich sends Mason to Vorkuta, a Russian labor camp where he meets Resnov and is to become brainwashed by Dragovich, this dude Steiner, and this other russian dude Kravshanko. The brainwashing turns Mason into a sleeper agent to kill president Kenedy and to brodcast launch codes for certain missles. Resnov sneaks in and rewires the brainwashing so Mason also has the urge to kill Dragovich, Steiner, and Kravshanko. Resnov and Mason make a plan to escape Vorkuta. Everyone dies, except Mason. Mason goes to Vietnam to fight where he starts to hallucinate that Resnov is still alive. Mason finds his way to a weapon production facility where he kills steiner thinking he is Resnov. After confrontation Mason finds Dragovich and kills him.
Bo2- 1980 Mason is helping a war in Angola when he finds out his friend woods is rotting in a box on a boat. He goes to save Woods and crashes the boat. They try to radio for help, but piss of thus drug runner: Menendez. Menendez holds a grudge. Later Mason and Woods help the Chinese and dessert people defend against some russian seige. Mason finds Kravshanko and can choose to either kill him, or use all of his will power to keep him alive. No matter what happens Woods and Mason are betrayed and left to die until Mason hallucinates about Resnov. Even later later Woods and Mason are doing a drug raid on Menendez. Woods throws a frag grenade at Menendez, but it kills his sister instead. Menendez's sister saved him from a fire as a child and was severely burned, she was the only person he loved. Menendez swore revenge. In China woods and mason get tipped off about Menendez. Mason gets captured while woods is sent to a sniper perch. They put a bag over masons head and tell woods it is Menendez. Woods thinks he is killing Menedez. He can also shoot him in the leg. Menendez reveals that Woods shot Mason. Menendez then shows Mason's son, David, the body. David represses this memory. Menendez kills this guy Hudson, Mason's interigator, and cripples Woods. He tells David they will see each other again.
2020- Menedez establishes a terrorist organization that will destroy the world's technological army. He visits woods. David, now apart of the Black Ops team, interigates Woods, and finds a stronghold for Menendez's secret weapon: S super duper hacking device. After some missions Menendez hacks the US Navy's most important ship, and destroys the US military's technological info structure. While trying to hack China's info structure he is either caught or killed by David.
Bo3- 2060 CAMPAIGN: (The one that gives everyone a headache) The world got scared of Menendez or some shit so they got super soliders who have their minds linked to a network or something. The best Black Ops unit with this is this dude John Taylor and his group, but they go crazy because a CIA file maintenance program became self aware. 'The Player" and this dude Hendicts are tasked with finding Taylor. They in counter these Slavic dudes CBD or some shit and are like pfft. They also in counter this asian terrorist group; the 54 inmortals. They find Taylor, why he was bad, yatta yatta.
2060- MULTIPLAYER: An ex 54i gun runner had started management of a simulation in which he has captured Specialist Soliders from a secret project. He is running the simulation and selling their combat data. These "specialist" do not know they are in a simulation. Except for Prophet, Spectre, and Firebreak. This is why some of the multiplayer maps are janky in bo3. These "specialist" are Ex US Military, 54i, and mercenary. All but Reaper and Spectre had served in a secret program in the 2040's. Their fates are undetermined.
Bo4- 2040: David Mason has two daughters; Savanah and Someone else Mason-Greene. While the second daughter had wanted to serve her nation, Savanah had built an empire contracting to the military. The second duaghter had served in a unit with 2 of the specialist from bo3: Battery and Ruin. Savanah had begun a project in which someone resurrected Woods, Mason, and Menendez. Menendez somehow took power and had Woods brainwashed to help their cause. The second daughter had found out and threatened the plan. Savanah had her team go on a mission in which they purposefully killed the second duaghter and left everyone else alive. Savanah the began work on having Woods brainwashing Mason to think their roles were reversed, so they could have control over the numbers and Mason. Savanah also began the Specialist project. One night Ruin starts talking to Battery about how it was strange that the mission they went on only killed the second daughter. Later he gets a message from mysterious person. Savanah is notified that the Specialist have been comprised. She send strike teams to try to kill them. They all escape and meet up with the person that sent Ruin the message. The person is the sister that died, but now isn't dead. The specialist then plan to stop Savanah and project Blackout.
Also Firebreak is wondering around thinking about how he burned his father alive.

This is some weird fan fiction designed story they put into the game lol. I’m really happy to have these characters back but I honestly don’t really like how Blackout now has to abide by a story. This means characters we want to have added in Blackout will have a stronger chance of not being dlc later since it wouldn’t make sense for them to be revived.

Dude you should team up with a friend in blackout and one of you be mason and the other one woods, I personally tried this and sometimes they talk to each other without you pressing any taunt or that kind of buttons, they actually have a 5 sec conversation that ive heard. 100% they have more than 1 conversation

Probably David "Section" Mason because Woods says "Sorry Kid" meaning like Woods killed Alex Mason in BO2 is the cannon ending and apologies David Mason. But, Woods is not in the wheelchair and not old. That is another unsolved mystery. Or, David got injured in the end of "Suffer With Me" so that's why he is in the wheelchair. The timeline of this is probably around 2008-2017.
Edit: I forgot to mention how Woods is not in the wheelchair part. He probably was just shot in the arm.
Also, there is more proof why it is in 2008-2017 because Woods says "I'm working on it" meaning he is working on killing Raul, but later failed and got shot in both legs.

Seems obvious to me this is all leftovers from the cut content.....the campaign they cut.
It was weird how they had such high quality cutscenes for the specialist tutorials and yet the writing pure crap and without any context...almost like it was pieces of a work-in-progress campaign stapled together at the last minute.
TBH, I think they realised the campaign was turning out to be a shit show of terrible writing and made the decision to cut it as a result.
I'm quite happy to think of BO4 as a story-free game. Last good Black Ops campaign was BO1 anyways...BO2 was best multiplayer but I hated what they did with flashback campaign storyline, to make future setting have some random connection to previous game. It didn't feel like a legit continuation to me.

I hate the direction they're going with. I dont want a story about those specialists. They shouldve make BO4 a sequel to BO2 having David Mason and Harper. Like I want to see more relationship between David and Alex Mason, and Frank Woods on the wheel chair. Man I miss BO2 multiplayer. BO4 MP shouldve been like BO2 but more refined, a better improvement. So yeah, I rather see reskin of BO2 instead of BO3.
It's more focused on Savvanah Mason's project with our old characters then it is with the specialists, and making a "direct" sequel with BO2 is going to be difficult since BO2's story is impacted with the choices the player makes... and if there was a canon ending then that would make all of Treyarch's points they were making back when BO2 was the current game in development pointless... really if Treyarch didn't make the multiple endimgs option, we would have had a proper sequel... but on the other hand... one of the reasons BO2 has one of the best campaign is story, but also replayability with the multiple endings.

Treyarch just needs a good villain just like Menendez, for Bo2 sequel with David and Harper. I just want those guys they're badass. Treyarch don't have to introduce Alex and Woods too much in every future BO game. Like don't get me wrong, I love them, and love how Treyarch brought them back in BO2. It's awesome how we played two different timelines in BO2, in 1980(I think) and 2025. I'm guessing there will be a campaign in a dlc, who knows.

Dont get me started with BO4 multiplayer. The specialists in mp is such a cluster fuck. I'm glad that they removed jetpacks and wallrunning, but specialists and their abilities got to go. Like why tf Treyarch bother to give them a second ability, and they replaced the grenades and tactical gernades. Battery Cluster Gernades, Prophit Shock Drones, Recon Sensor Dart, etc. Its just getting BS even with the 150 health. The stim shot is what I'm getting used too because it takes a tactical skill to survive while healing. The only thing I like about the BO4 multiplayer is the boots on ground movements, it feels smooth, and climbing over windows is a good innovation, and with the stim shot imo. Body armor, 150 health, specialist, and their abilities need to go.

Sorry if I sound rude, but at 1:58 it's actually Menendez killing mason and hudson, along with shooting woods in the knees. But the mission where Menendez goes on a rampage to save his sister is in Nicaragua, the mission time and fate. So that might be why Mason is in the wheelchair.
