Let's win a cup in 2025 for this fine gentleman...great broadcaster you are Sam Rosen...I always appreciated how you always gave kudos to the opposition and still showed class in your love for the Rangers....well done for so many years, you'll certainly be missed ....best of luck in your next chapter ..."AND IT'S A POWER PLAY GOAL!!!"....thanks Sam...., and thanks Jim for your great job you do, much appreciated....I've been a Ranger fan since 1971 from little PEI, Canada....Let's Go Rangers!
I’ve been a Rangers fan since the early 80’s and have had the privilege to meet Sam on a few different occasions. He is the kindest man and a true gentleman. Always willing to stop for a photo, sign an autograph or just have a chat about hockey. The Rangers broadcast will never be the same without him but we’re so lucky to have had him for all these years. Wishing him nothing but the best in his retirement.
A few years ago, I had returned from my home state of NJ to my new home in Charlotte, NC and as I'm walking through the airport terminal, I see a guy who is a dead-ringer for Sam Rosen. It was right around the time he was elected to the HOF. As the terminal was so crowded, I looked at the carry-on luggage he had, and it said 'NY Rangers' on it. I couldn't believe it! While I have never been interested in celebrity or bothering people, I couldn't resist just thanking him. Being a fan since 1979 (my first game was the infamous Botson/NYR Milbury shoe incident), I turned went to him and said "Look, I know you're tired (he had called a Carolina Panthers game) but congratulations and thank you. I'm going to leave you now because I could talk your ear off all night, but just thank you and congratulations!". He couldn't have been nicer and actually appreciative. It was my brief moment with an icon and even in a busy airport on a Sunday evening with people just trying to get home or to their next destination, it felt good.
Great interview Jim. Sam is simply the GOAT. Such a privilege hearing him for the 35 years I've watched the Rangers. His legacy will last a lifetime and so should his name in the rafters of MSG.
My dad RIP always had the “The big whistle” as his favorite Rangers commentator but I just missed that era. I began watching right at the time Sam came in. Bruce Beck on the glass before games. The nostalgic voice of Sam will be missed. Have to cherish this season. Thanks Sam, even though you hate fighting that was always a bummer but……thanks 😂😂😂
I met Sam Rosen twice, both on Road Games! Once in Carolina, the other in Edmonton! Very nice guy and he even wished my Dad a Happy Birthday in Edmonton when I told him my Dad and I were celebrating his Birthday going to Calgary and Edmonton together! I'm going to miss hearing his voice on TV since he's been the voice my whole life!
I think I was 11 years old when I started watching the Rangers. Sam worked with Phil Esposito then, if memory serves. Love this guy. I hate watching games without him. More important than any player, coach or GM to me. He is the Rangers. I wore Michel Petit's number, probably his only fan in that era.
Sam has not lost a step. He is every bit as great as he was in the 80's and 90's. But he's going out at his peak. Good for him. But I have no idea how they replace him....
This guy is awesome….. nobody like Sam Rosen….. now we need to get rid of Micheletti because he is awful. And we need to get rid of valiquette and replace him with Hank and Boyle.

Sam the Greatest of All Time

We gonna miss you Sam..
Put his name in the rafters. He's part of the fabric of the Rangers and of New York.

So many hockey voices have left us. Bob Miller, Pat Foley, Jack Edwards. All great, but none greater than Sam. Gonna really miss him. 😢
Jack Edwards??? The slowest, dullest hockey announcer I ever heard.

The play by play won’t be the same when he retires
A True Legend Sam You Are!! Rangers Fan of 55 years and counting! Enjoy your last season with all the guys GO RANGERS!!!
You will be missed, Sam 😢

Even in 1978, Sam doing play by play for a game against the Islanders filling in for Jim Gordon, with the "Big Whistle", Bill Chadwick!
Sam please stay another 7765444 years with us 😭🥹
Our Sam💙. Always great questions Jim. Ah no this has my ready eyed now 😢 LGR

Watching playoffs on espn or nhl network is so bad i hate it, first round is only good bc we get sam rosen and MSG!!
This guy is awesome….. nobody like Sam Rosen….. now we need to get rid of Micheletti because he is awful. And we need to get rid of valiquette and replace him with Hank and Boyle.
If Henrik doesn’t take that spot I’m just watching on mute after this year. No Sam no commentary, I refuse to listen to Kenny Albert sorry not sorry!!
Kenny does a fine job. John Giannone not bad.
Wait to go trouba you now ruined yet ANOTHER THING!!!
Can’t wait till he is off the team
Trouba needs to go. Unfortunately we have to wait this whole year cause his idiot wife has to be driven to work every day.
Fans in MSG should give Trouba the business, whenever he has the puck. In no time, he’ll ok a trade & tell his wife, “Zoomtime ain’t so bad.”
Now, follow this up with multiple player interviews re:their reaction to this announcement. Especially want to see Henrik’s and Dave Maloney’s takes.
