  • I have been looking for new moto-boots for this summer's WYBDR trip as my current Gaernes will not do for the heavy off-road element. I have tried the ‪@KlimUSA‬ ADV Boots but wasn't impressed at all. I am reviewing my latest option, which is the Sidi Adventure 2 Boots. Things are looking up for sure.

    I've been rolling with an MX boot for the past couple of years. Longest ride with them was from Clarksville, TN (north west of Nashville) through the 1st first 3 sections of the MA BDR and back (all on a XR650L with a 5.8 gal gas tank). It was totally manageable with couple pairs of Gortex socks, some flip-flops, and a pair of minimalist shoes. As a new ADV rider I like having the extra protection. I have to admit that I have been tempted by some of the ADV boots, but for now, it's MX for me.
    Glad to see you back in the TH-cam content saddle, keep it up!

    And that’s just what they’ll do,
    One of these days these boots are gonna,

    I’ve watched a fair number of seedy videos but this was by far the most educational.

    Great boot. I have the same pair. They don’t offer enough protection for harder rides. I love them for short day rides etc, but for BDR rides I rode my Tech7 Enduro Drystar. They are the better for protection but a little less comfortable to walk in. Great video.

      @steveh545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think CE ratings are focused on the slide and abrasion. Might be wrong. If you’re off-road, the slide is less a problem than the crush, or the twist.

    • @steveh545
      @steveh545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correction. Safety rating stuff is so confusing. And focused on clothing. Where abrasion is important in surface protection, then the pads for impact add another level. Looking if the boot thing… the testing looks a bit stupid. And includes “color-fastness”. Technically there are 2 levels of CE for boots. Ironically labeled 1&2. 2 is better. It should be on the label. Anyway, if you might fall off, or put your feet down, more (harder off-road stuff or just a newb) then more motorcrossy the better.

    Dropped my bike about five weeks ago and frame smashed my foot. Broke one bone (fifth metatarsal) but smashed foot pretty good. I changed from some softer motorcycle boots to these Sidi Adventure 2 boots and love them. Comfortable and feel very protective. Had to adjust shifter to be able to get my toe under it but very happy. Well worth the money if you have it.

    I just got a pair myself, same color. I have wide feet, wear a 9.5 (USA) but in this boot that was a little tight. I'd say the width was the problem. I went up a size and one foot was still a bit snug for my toes. I then took out the insole and that gave my toes the needed wiggle room. I wonder if this would have worked for the 9.5 size but didn't think to try it while I had them. Give that a try if yours feel a bit on the small size.

    I have these. They’re great. They’re very narrow and hurt the side of my foot a bit. Done loads of deep water crossings an they’re 100% waterproof. However, I always still ride with my Alpinestars Tech 7 because these can’t compare. I wear them if I’m on the sports tourer or I’m going to need to walk a lot. They don’t get a lot of use to be honest. Easily do 8-12 hour rides in them though.

      That’s awesome. I have moto shoes I wear for most of my commuting but was hoping to have a pair of tougher boots ready for my two trips coming up, Wyoming BDR and Central America. Hopefully these will be a good fit for those two excursions. They felt pretty comfortable while still getting the added protection I was hoping for.
      Thank you very much for your feedback and watching the vid.

      @@BeGoneForGood If the bike falls on you, these won’t do the job. I’ve also had some small logs and rocks on very rocky trails wack my feet when I’ve gone over them and I was glad I had the plastic armor reinforcement. The plush leather on the Siri’s are comfy and soft, but that comes at a price.

If it helps I'm a size 10 US, 43 is a 9.5 US; this time went with a 44 which should be 10.2 per the chart the website offered.
