I think that might be because a smaller screen is worse at "filling out the room" with the atmosphere and immersion. A TV screen is just so much larger and fills out more of the room and what you see compared to a small handheld screen, so it's harder to get immersed in the world (which isn't a problem in other games, but horror games might suffer because they rely on atmosphere).
That is a good point there. Silent Hill did feel a lot better playing on the TV. I did play RE2 and RE3 on handhelds and I was fine with them. I guess Silent Hill is just special. Thanks for watching!
