The "music business" is constantly circumventing preexisting law in order to further screw the musical creators and keep the lion's share of every cent for themselves. One artist recently demonstrated he'd received a plaque for 2 BILLION plays of a song he recorded in the 70's . . . with a check for $1,700. That's ONE THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. That's .00000085 of a cent per play. As absolutely despicable as that is, companies like Spotify think they're paying too much . . . and don't take my word for it, do the research.

Re AI and people not adopting the latest tech being left behind, I don't think AI can be looked at in the same way for one reason, humanity. Call me naive or hopeful, but I think the time will come when people won't want to listen to or view things a computer made, even with prompts from a human, OVER things humans have put their souls into. People have liked the art of people for decades because of shared emotions with another human. AI can only fake that connection. You could look at this as being similar to how people are now going back to vinyl over CDs but I think it's a much bigger thing and will be a much faster recoil.
this is not the answer. artists are not in the music industry but in the marketing industry. if you can market your music properly you will be able to sell it on your own website. regardless of streaming, cds, mp3s... we absolutely do not need another profit hungry artist bullying mega company to be part of D2C.

Your samples weren't cleared because they weren't yours. I stopped using samplers for that because of the likelihood of getting sued. I just sample myself now for live convenience, or animal sounds etc
@@pgfputgod1st Right on. I hope they offer a custom URL option so I can run it off my own domain instead of theirs, that would be a genuine selling point for me.
They wanna make it so the music you consume is all AI generated on the spot based on your feelings. Musicians aren’t going to make money anymore unless they are performing and even then, how will people find your music when there will be an infinite amount of new music being created daily? Sure, it might be better but even now, bad music gets popular easily. And these platforms won’t promote music or artists that aren’t their own.
Can’t be good to have the ‘middle man’ model trying to take ownership of the DTC experience. More people profiting in the chain other than the musicians. Social media activity + personal website is true DTC isn’t it? Also Even isn’t looking like a great fit atm. Watching to see where they’re headed. There’s a new platform coming - future moves are going be interesting for sure.
People are already paying too much for music platforms including TH-cam, no way gen Alpha is gonna be more willing to pay to listen to full albums just because of available tech. Apple music won't be the saving grace, maybe Spotify will end up like Pandora but paying for more does not appeal to me as music lover. Your comment about 2000s music is a hilarious downgrade, must not be talking about it across multiple genes.
My view of what is coming is like this... YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY. I believe they will come and take EVERYONE's music collections and force everyone to stream only... It makes sense when the goal is to all of humanity's rights to OWNERSHIP. This is bigger than just music. I loved your video by the way. get ready for the barcode on your forehead bro.
AI music will replace human created music by 2026. That's how the industry will change. 9 of the top 10 songs on Spotify will be AI generated and nobody will care. Human musicians will care, but casual listeners will not care. Human musicians will still make up a small niche market (maybe 5%-10%) but the human music industry will be finished. So we don't even have to talk about Bandcamp or D2C or any of that because it won't matter because of the dominance of AI music in the future.
I don't think any of this is happening, and I hope it does not. This is just trying to fix a death machine by having it produce apples also. We need entirely new, local and regional models of music. Absolutely all of this talk is hyperindividualistic, which just mirrors the path we have been shunted onto to our disadvantage and that of our communities. Hustling, no matter what form it takes, may get you money. If that is your goal as a musician, to be in LA and have lots of money, I sincerely hope you fail.
Independent Labels Already Sell Their Music On Their Own Platforms….!! Labels Are Already On Apple At A Good Price, And As You Said IPhones And Their Set Up, With The Films As Well It’s Done…!!
By the end of 2000 burglars couldn’t really sell DVD players in the U.K. once the Chinese cornered the production it brought burglary down big time in the U.K.
Good point in that technology isn't going away. People mistakenly compare AI to crypto scams, but the difference is that AI has real world utility for various applications unlike long numbers that have no intrinsic real world value.
People are getting broke and broker last thing people will do is pay for music in the near future any free music apps will destroy any company that has a paid subscription
people are going to be creating their own music without artist, the producer, artist are gonna be cut off unless they are competitive enough to make better music than regular people, only nerds will be the new rock stars! programmers = new artist/producers if artist don't learn how AI works they must just forget, the prediction made on this video is ridiculous honestly
Very interesting and informative. I'll be taking your courses seriously. As far as AI, it is presently in its third stage, the next stage it reasons which is foundational to creativity. Artists will be more and more collaborative with AI to produce music. The only advantage humans will have is emotions until Ai evolves to the 5th stage, now we're in totally unfamiliar territory.
I’m still learning about the transition process of how people stream their songs on Spotify etc, as an artist it’s how to go about doing the right way to sell our music & merchandise, by doing reels etc & accepting this change, I’m sure people buy CDS? Maybe I could do USBS,

You seem like you've been watching the music industry as long as I have I've been thinking about it different while I did it the same since 1989 I was turned away in the early days like crazy town butterfly like those days because my samples couldn't get cleared by the people I was working with and people just weren't ready for country hip hop Rock I just turned Inward and have watched and learned and filmed and I'm only a few months away from having internet in this little hole in the wall town I've made a home in I'll be watching you and learning thank you very much
Your samples weren't cleared because they weren't yours. I stopped using samplers for that because of the likelihood of getting sued. I just sample myself now for live convenience, or animal sounds etc
Heavy metal is the problem
This got me feeling good about the future
What is EVEN?
DTC platform
@@pgfputgod1st Right on. I hope they offer a custom URL option so I can run it off my own domain instead of theirs, that would be a genuine selling point for me.
Already beat them. #ROYALFLUSH
SHUT IT DOWN
They wanna make it so the music you consume is all AI generated on the spot based on your feelings. Musicians aren’t going to make money anymore unless they are performing and even then, how will people find your music when there will be an infinite amount of new music being created daily? Sure, it might be better but even now, bad music gets popular easily. And these platforms won’t promote music or artists that aren’t their own.
Great vid!
Are we acting like Bandcamp doesn’t exist?
PayHip > Bandcamp
5% fee > 10%-15% fee
I believe they will come and take EVERYONE's music collections
and force everyone to stream only...
Music won’t be the same???? As what? It needs to go backwards about 30 years. It hasn’t been good at all for about -25-30 years.
EVEN is a small ass platform and will always be niche, if you think it's going to be able to go to war with the majors, keep smoking
Good point in that technology isn't going away. People mistakenly compare AI to crypto scams, but the difference is that AI has real world utility for various applications unlike long numbers that have no intrinsic real world value.
Hello,
Who cares something about the music industry, just make music.
People are getting broke and broker last thing people will do is pay for music in the near future any free music apps will destroy any company that has a paid subscription
Is he saying "Even" ? Ive never heard of it. Neither has google. Other than obviously the opposite of odd.
people are going to be creating their own music without artist, the producer, artist are gonna be cut off unless they are competitive enough to make better music than regular people, only nerds will be the new rock stars! programmers = new artist/producers if artist don't learn how AI works they must just forget, the prediction made on this video is ridiculous honestly
I've bought lots of indie stuff off Bandcamp, but i have zero interest giving the big three labels a penny more than I already do with Spotify
So what? Stop uploading to soundcloud and streaming platforms and only upload to bandcamp?
🎉🎉🎉
Mark this comment. We are the future.

I’m still learning about the transition process of how people stream their songs on Spotify etc, as an artist it’s how to go about doing the right way to sell our music & merchandise, by doing reels etc & accepting this change, I’m sure people buy CDS? Maybe I could do USBS,
But there's nothing new under sun , musicians been independent since , 90s
Move on the raft in the rift and when you finally get a shore you will one day look out in the distance and miss the days on the raft in the big rift called life🎉
excellent perspectives
What the hell are you even saying? That hat is so distracting.

I think your insights are right on, therefore highly valuable. Thanks for sharing. Got a new subscriber Mr. Keep up!
i’m with you 100%. i wish bandcamp could profit bc they’ve always had good intentions. there should also be development for hi res music, then the model would be complete. great video, thanks!
Question-Do you think it's wise to be on Bandcamp and EVEN or just pick one to focus on?
I dont need u. my fans family
