Might alao be a controversial response as well but if someone needs to use their phone for either to make a call or if they receive one, they usually have myself or the owner (if she isnt busy) come and relieve them. We had one lady whose daughter was in a very bad car accident and no one could a hold of the lady to let her know so they called the daycare and after that happened she made sure she had her ohone on her at all times. Our policy at the time was ohones were to be put away until after your shift is complete however the owners took into account what happened and changed the policy but then oeople took advantage of the new policy and it got changed again and again
Might be a controversial response, but if you MUST be on your phone, I just ask to go to the bathroom and check an important message in there. Then you also know there is coverage in your room while you safely step away.
I dont have an assistant but some days i sure wish i did. I would like to get your opinion on before and after school bus system. Do you have a bus policy?

I have a phone policy my assistant signs. If there is an emergency they will have to call the facility period. NO EXCEPTIONS!
