Ah the cascading faults issue, fix one, another pops up. I had that happen to me last year when I got a glow plug fault warning that triggered the engine management light. So I replaced the glow plugs (which to be fair had 280,000kms on them). Next day another engine management light which was an exhaust gas temperature sensor. Replaced that (but it was far from easy!!) but then next day, another warning light, this time it was a blocked dpf. So I flushed that with Wynnes dpf cleaner and then the problems were cured. Well for a few weeks or so until a wheel bearing went bad, but I replaced that and then things have settled down….for now at least! Thanks to Jimmy and other TH-cam mechanics, I’ve learned how to do all my own maintenance works which has saved me a fortune, plus I know the repairs have been done correctly. Wish main dealers had the same desire to fix cars properly.
I have this problem with my transit. The cascading faults are so frustrating. You fix one issue and another pops up. I am now done with this van as my wallet cannot cope with the constant need to replace sensors and valves. I have never had so many issues with a vehicle. This is a proper lemon and I would advise people to steer clear of transits.
If you want your car to work well and without problems, REPAIR THE MACHINE YOURSELF. GOOD QUALITY WORK IS ONE THAT IS DONE BY YOURSELF. I repair the car myself and there are no problems with the car.
I’m a plant mechanic, who an hour ago was broken down on the hard shoulder with egr stuck shut on the diagnostics, wouldn’t pull more than about 10mph, just followed your video to take the mystery out of it, fair play, everything’s as you said and I’m now stuffing my face in McDonald’s. Solid content, wish people had videos like this for the shit I work on
Thanks Jimmy for taking the time and effort to produce these very informative videos. Your one handed dexterity never fails to amaze me it can’t be easy! Great work thank you once again !🙏
Those who say " I have my glow plugs not working for years " are per definition the DPF delete clients so not really our best customers These are the ones that take their car for granted and rather buy the latest smartphone than taking care of the machine that brings them to the shop to buy that. You, as the channel operator, have to be a bit polite with what you say but I will say it for others that think the same as me.
Great video Jimmy, I’ve said it before but love the methodical way you explain things as you are doing them. How you video at the same time is a miracle 😃👍
Nice job ive done on RWD one and i hate em! They're a horrible job, next time im gonna lower engine to get to it. Glow plug aint fun either. You gotta remove EGR and pull intake manifold to get em out
The problem I had was that the "Hill start" and "ESP" lights came on, but when I did the diagnostics, the computer showed a P042F (EGR) error. I removed the EGP and found that the valve was stuck, but I did not buy a new one, but performed maintenance on the old one. Now everything works as it should.
That EGR valve was the least of your problems. Looking at the way the inside of the EGR discharge nozzle was clogged, thats what the inside of your inlet manifold looks like. There will be a 5mm thick layer of carbon soaked with half burnt engine oil in there. BE SURE to clean the inlet manifold and inlet ports out when you service the glow plugs.
If no engine light comes on would the effects of the erg valve cause the vehicle to kick out white bluish smelly smoke upon start up and while driving off it really gets bad and stinks to high heaven . But after about a mile or so it stops smoking.
Do me a favour, I like watching your video but!. For 9 months I have been watching trying to see if I can sort out my renault megane & warning light check emissions. Yesterday I saw a little text in a random Google piece saying about petrol caps, I got out the car ; slammed the petrol cap & low & behold all my 9 months of stress resolved. Come on give us this type of info too. But your still a good watch.
Hi Jimmy, my gaffers van has started “juddering” at low revs in all gears, but drives okay otherwise. It has no dashboard fault lights. Is this the engine malfunction caused by a faulty EGR? Thanks.
Great Video jimmy and thanks for your clear explanations. I’dd be interested in the milage and year of these vehicles..At what milage do you generally see DPF/EGR issues starting

@@chipanderson2135I’m not alone in this case… I’m hesitating to burn my transit or fixing it 😅

What a man, absolutely no nonsense video and kept me engaged every second. The world is much much better off with people like yourself

Had exactly the same thing happen on mine today, going to take off and clean. How’s yours now?
@@jockeywilson 👍. 👌.The valve was very coked, I had to use some tricks to make it work.

I always use some super glue to glue the gasket on first 😉

I'll try to add that information on next videos

Thanks for the visit
Hi, new subscriber and enjoying your expertise. Quick question, I thought glow plugs are utilised during dpf passive regen, am I mistaken? Thanks
Yes they are. These Vehicles however use a vaporizer mounted on the exhaust to regen
@@ORileysAutos thank you for confirmation, really appreciated!
Once the Agr valve is removed is it possible to manually clean it ?

Hey Jimmy which town or city is your base ,old jimmy
hes in bedford
You mentioned in one of your videos that you thought the vivaro was the worst van to buy. What van similar in size would you recommend? Thanks
Swb crafter?
Swb sprinter?
Transit custom 2.2?
Delete dpf by gutting it and pull off rear preasure tube. Unbolt erg servo. Will then go forever.
I just bought new engine turbo and Egr valve.. the car is powerless.. close to impossible to drive,
Dpf and egr fault. The bane of my life. What a shit design
