Ok sooo, here is a few little things that are good to know:
1. Swissbeatbox is the largest beatbox community of people with the same passion from all over the world. This is where the most important events are organized, such as for example Grand Beatbox Battle.
2. During the pandemic, more online battles such as Kickback were organized
3. In this battles, they can usually win money, some items and musical equipment such as a microphone, etc.
4. Sounds are divided into two types: inward and outward. This allows the beatboxers to control their breathing during the beatboxing. There are also sounds that are neither inward or outward like lip roll(but not all versions of this sounds), rim shot, kim squik etc
5. Since this is a compilation of Dlow's rounds, some things may not be understood for you. D low used a counterattack many times against his opponents(for that they also got points) and to understand him you should watch the whole battle :)
Yo can react also to Zekka Kickback compilation. He took second place ad his style is more musical.

Since you prefer Melodic stuff better, you can react to Zekka's Runner up compilation next. He placed 2nd and lost to D-Low in the Finals, his rounds are way more enjoyable for non beatboxers and the Final was also super close where D-Low won the battle just by 1 point (Out of 100).
A battle consists of 2 rounds each from the opponents where based on who did better overall win the battle, this video includes total of 7 rounds(1+ 2 + 2 + 2) where the First round you watched is a showcase based on which the opponents are decided. Dlow placed 2nd in the showcase round and Zekka placed 1st in the showcase round(a musical beatbox masterpiece, which you can see in his compilation)
Also the winner does get some prize money on winning(not a lot), they mostly get recognition through TH-cam and run their own TH-cam channel/Twitch, etc to make money. But, thing are changing especially with BBU(a competition which started a while ago) where the winner gets 10,000 Euros on Winning the competition and all the other participants also get a good amount of money based on how far they get through the competition.

That's a compilation of all the rounds he performed in the sbx kickback battle. His oponnent rounds were cut out, that's why it's a Winner compilation.
And yeah they use their hands cause it helps them to focus or what ever. U can see it like the movement Matches to the sound like drums and so on.
And yeah every sound got a name although it might sound a little different from person to person because the level of mastering the sound counts in and like not everbody got the same voice so the sounds sound slightly different from Beatboxer to Beatboxer.

@@CHRISMEELOVE it's fine, i'm only referring to the fact that most big competitions like gbb for example, and so many others, don't offer any sort of cash reward. You might get equipment sometimes, maybe a shirt, but not much more. Sadly that's just the reality of how it is rn. But luckily competitions like beatbox united have started offering financial commpensation for their work

@@Pounamu104 I mentioned it’s difficult, not impossible but I’ve never seen a beatboxer stay still specially with a more complex beats. There was no need for a really long comment but I can go into depth what else helps with timing since it’s not just hand gestures. Even singers uses their hands and those who can sing without moving are extremely rare. Just so happen Chris asked about the hands so completely explaining everything else she didn’t ask about would be irrelevant. Basically you can move almost any part of your body to a rhythm to help with timing (like what Inertia did against Helium).
