  • How to rebuild a Wheel Horse rototiller gearbox making seal drivers rototilling food plots. This is a 1975 C-100 C-series Wheel Horse with a Wheel Horse rototiller 7-1251-9 serial# 51496. The tiller tines came off VERY difficult. However it tilled the rocky soil for turnip and radish food plots.

    Great video and effort. To get my tines off I used a bolt with a coupling nut on each side so the pressure was even. A torch, PB blaster and it came off after much effort.

    Just got one of these not too long ago. Needs some TLC. I suspect I'll be doing this over the winter. Thanks for making this video

    You should install the outside seal reversed, so it keeps debris out.

    Tall grass is what ruins the neoprene seals of the gearbox fella.

    Any chance you could do a video of how the tiller is installed? I just got mine. Not sure if i need the rock shaft kit for it to mount it to the lever to raise and lower it?

      I have to go back and look. I have the machine up north now. I may have what your looking for in my cut recordings.

      Give me a day I have to get to the shed and see if I can locate the spares I bought. I will let you know one way or the other.

    Did you replace any bearings? Mine are all shot, don't know how to remove the cupped style bearing? Any help would be appreciated.

    • @whatsnextgarage
      @whatsnextgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had needle bearings and I replaced them. With the cup and cone style you will need to drive the cup out the same way the cone came out. Typically the cup is driven in to a shoulder so you have to drive it out.

      @@whatsnextgarage thanks for the quick reply. I'm new to this type of repair work. Your video was inspiration to get this tiller back in action. So the cup looking bearings are put in from the outside of the case with no sealant? The oil won't leak out? Thanks for your time and willingness to share.

    • @whatsnextgarage
      @whatsnextgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@swamproadbaskets no the oil is kept in by the seals. List the model tiller you have here and I’ll look up the schematic and see what it’s looking like.

      @@whatsnextgarage mode 67-36TL01 the closest schematic I found was 07-36TL01 gear case looks the same, I understand there are seals on tine axle and one side of the input shaft. But the other end of input shaft is set into what looks like a cup with a bearing. Also there is an intermediate gear that both ends set into similar cup looking bearings # 1532. It's those three areas I'm not understanding. Are they pressed in from the inside of the case or from the outside in and the closed ends are just painted to look like the case. Thanks
