Eto yung time na when Regine entered the music scene fresh from winning the Asia Pacific Song Festival , biglang naiangat sya sa Diva status singing alongside the famous Philippine Divas and Balladeers. Sya ang pinakabatang pop singer that time na biglang napabilang sa circle ng senior/established Divas like Kuh, ZsaZsa, Celeste Legaspi, Vernie, Dulce pero umangat sya lalo when she showcased vocal versatility and vocal power na biglang naging standard ng power belting sa Pinas. Nung 90s nagsulputan mga Regine wannabees sa singing contests, saka impersonators sa comedy bars, gay clubs etc. Only in her 20s and in just a few years she became a gay icon, na most gay icons ay mga older famous Divas. 😊

May Pelita, Dulce at Ivy Violan na po noon na deserve tawagin na diva..Si Imelda Papin nga kung tutuusin has the vocal capacity to be a diva..hindi lang yun ang pinili niyang path..I saw her sang All By Myself, belting and sustaining the highlight with so much ease..Sobra namang sabihin na noon sumulpot lang si Regine nagkaroon tayo ng diva..the Philippines is a country of great singers even before regine..pero totoong itinaas niya ang singing standard sa bansa..she has influenced the singers that came after her..thanks to her we have some of the best singers in the world now..kahit hindi mga trained..

Don’t get me wrong ...there were other really good singers in the music industry in the Phillipines but during this time she’s the only one we Filipinos can be compared to all the international singers like Mariah and Whitney even the great Barbara who can belt out high notes and such .That is why she will always be our proud Song Bird.

I was there. It was this moment when i first heard Papa can you hear me. Goose bumps and tears rolled down my cheeks. She was sooooo amazing! Therr were a number of standing ovations that night. And she cried i think twice. She is a total performer, a story teller and with that wide range golden voice.... she can definitely nail any song of any genre. You are not still but you are number one Ms. Regine Velasquez alcasid. Thank you for giving us beautiful songs that may last forever. ❤
