The white pigment I use is DESIGNER'S PERMANENT WHITE GOUACHE, which is an opaque version of watercolor. I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting.

Most common questions I get and here are some answers:
▶︎What's the difference between cold pressed and hot pressed?
Cold pressed is on the rougher side and hot pressed is the smoothest. For example with hot pressed the paint won't sink in as much and will dry faster, vs cold pressed is the most traditional watercolor paper for artists, the paint will sit for a while until it settles and you can do dry brushing. It also dries longer because of all that. They are both fun, I just have been painting mostly on hot pressed because of my style. Hot pressed is good when you can paint faster and when you use a lot of paint. To determine which paper is best for you I think it's a good idea to try out all three kinds, hot pressed, cold pressed and the third kind - rough watercolor paper, this one is super bumpy!
▶︎How long does it take me to finish a painting?
Anytime between 40min - 3hrs. It all depends on what I am painting.
▶︎Do I use watercolor in pan or out of tube?
I mostly use watercolors out of tubes.
I think it helps me in painting with layers. I feel like it's so much easier to create that vibrancy when I can use more paint.
▶︎What are the basic colors I would recommend for a beginner?
black, indigo, thalo blue (phthalo), cobalt blue, viridian hue, turquoise, burnt umber, raw umber, burnt sienna, orange cadmium Hue, cadmium yellow Hue, cadmium yellow Hue pale, yellow ochre, sap green, Permanent yellow green, purple lake, mauve, red madder Hue, deep red, brilliant red, quinacridone red (Thalo crimson),
white - designers gouache permanent white
▶︎What basic brushes I would recommend for a beginner?
Round: 0, 2, 4, 6, Angular: 1/2, 3/4,
Fan: 2
▶︎What is art masking fluid?
It's a fluid (also known as liquid frisket ) that preserves white areas, white areas of the paper where you want to stay white. It's made of some sort of latex. Once you place it on your watercolor paper, on the area you want to stay white, wait until it completely dries before starting to paint. At the end, once your paper is dry, you can peel it off easily with your fingers or using an eraser.

Absolutely Awesome!!
I prefer her style demonstration on TH-cam. Thank goodness she doesn't talk, talk, talk to the point of the viewer thinking "Blah, blah, blah". Instead she demonstrates!! The biggest flaw people make on TH-cam is they over explain every step or thought process as they are painting or they talk so much that I can't see what she's doing.. I don't need to have everything described in detail ! The materials are printed at the beginning of the video. When she changes colors of paint or brushes, it's printed on the screen.. The music is comfortable and in keeping with the panting. .
Obviously she's an accomplished Artist , very proficient in her ability.

Would like to ask what is the difference between choosing cold-pressed and hot-pressed cotten paper?
Thank you Angela, Cold Pressed has a texture and it's better for beginners because you have more to play with and don't have to worry about small mistakes, the water paint settles in texture, it's almost more fun but Hot Pressed - a bit harder to paint on because it has no texture, it's very smooth and it forces you a little to work on details, also harder to hide mistakes but colors seem more vibrant. Thank you so much Sarah :) no, not yet... each class to prepare takes me about 3-4weeks to finish 😅this weekend I just launched another class - How to paint a Cat, after this one I will start working on my third one - Landscape. Then a dog and flowers🌸I will have a class on every subject I paint. Unfortunately because I cover everything in such detail and it's all narrated it takes me weeks to finish one class😅

Hi Hitakshi 😀Thank you so much 🌸I love all watercolor papers, rough, cold pressed and of course hot pressed. They all feel different and to me its like they all have their own purpose.. but of course you can paint anything with any of them... hot pressed requires more work (i have a hot pressed hydrangeas coming up, I think scheduled for Tuesday 😁) so you will see the difference. In general cold pressed is the easiest to paint on in watercolors. but yes... my fav is definitely hot pressed and 300lb is like the best haha

Which color do you use that you label as Antwerp blue and Mauve? I see that you use Holbein but I don't see that listed in their line of colors, at least not on Blick. Is it Indigo? I see that their Indigo paint uses the Antwerp blue pigment and lamp black. These were just two colors I have been wanting to get, but I haven't been sure which color exactly to buy. Thank you for any help.
Hi :) this is my older painting from a year ago, back then I was still using Winsor and Newton/Cotman and these I think were WN colors etc.. Good call on Antwerp blue..and I think today if I painted it again I would choose (Holbein): Cobalt Blue, Mineral Violet, Quinacridone Magenta, Quinacridone Violet, Phthalo Blue Red Shade, and Indigo. I'm due to paint these again!
Ah, yeah, I then went to the Winsor and Newton colors and saw the pigment names there. I saw that Mineral violet is the same as Mauve. Thank you. That is helpful to know.

Hi Belinda, I draw very gently on a paper.. and I use a pencil (very cheap one) that doesn't leave deep marks on my paper when creating a sketch.

I know this is sped up, how long do these realistic painting take you?
Hi, it depends what I am painting but flowers usually take longer like 2-2.5hrs because of layering, detail, waiting for the layers to dry in between.. Landscapes don't take much time.. 30min-1.5hrs.. animals maybe 45-1.5hrs etc... water scenes 1-1.5hr etc
