I never understood why one of their lesser songs got airplay on MTV when their stronger stuff was ignored. They were the apotheosis of southern bar bands and this performance exemplifies one of their very best original songs. It was a killer on the LP and an even bigger killer live.
I know right? I mean ''keep your hands to yourself''......great song yes......but Battleship Chains? Railroad Steel? Cant Stand The Pain? and SO many more you NEVER hear.....
Keep Your Hands to Yourself is iconic, I wouldn’t consider it one of their lesser songs at all, it’s basically become a rock/country standard at this point. But yeah they definitely deserved better than to be a one-hit wonder.

I was in the middle of the crowd in there and also one year later in 1989, when GS were headliners on Saturday (if I remember right)..nice memories to a phantastic time with phantastic music, girls and festivals. Now I´m nearly 60 and lucky to have been part of this all...
if you don't get the chills or goosebumps when after he finishes ''amazing grace'', starting at about 1:54, and the chords hit and the bass and drums come in and you realize it's ''Cant Stand The Pain''.......well you must not like Georgia Satellites
I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada and I always felt our prairie region has a spiritual connection to the southern rock scene of the U.S. (Neil Young could have been from the south and bands like the Georgia Satellites could have come from way up here).
IMO, the studio album GS did with this song on it is an all-time classic LP that like Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" LP is unheralded like other classic LPs.

What about Springsteen's Nebraska, Tunnel of love or even Born in the UA with My Hometown, Dancing in the dark (in spite of the video), the title song and all that work he managed to make both popular, full of rhythm and deep and complex if you listen to the lyrics?
Bruce was great in the 70s. BTR is one of the greatest albums of all time. By the 80s he was an afterthought. He hasn't recorded anything really worth listening to since Darkness.

I heard this band for the first time in 1986 on WNEW playing live at the Ritz in New York City and loved them ever since.
