      Thanks - The time you spend building up your footwork at home will help to elevate your creativity on the field. Keep up the good work and have fun!

    At the end of your video, the girls are doing a passing drill. Looks like a great drill. Can you tell us more about that or show us a video on how we can do that with our kids?

      Yes - I'm hoping to find time to make some passing drill videos. There are endless variations of this drill, but three of the main focuses are: 1) opening the body to receive the ball on a half turn; 2) checking to the ball; 3) and communicating (calling for the ball and telling a player they can turn).

    How many sets do you make them do per exercise?

    • @soccerdots
      @soccerdots  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Two to five depending on time constraints, fitness, and level of difficulty.

    How long does it seriously take to get to this level? I’m coaching a U14 boys team and they are no where near this good....

      It's hard to estimate a time frame, but I know this group of girls put in a lot of work with their coach over the winter. From U10 to U12, these players spent about 15 practices each winter working on their footwork for about 30 minutes at the start of each practice.

      @@soccerdots It took me all winter (once a week practice) to get my entire u12 girls to be able to do several moves stationary and now we are doing them on the move. All of them can do it now. It can be done.

    • @lambertj.2892
      @lambertj.2892 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. My girls can't do anywhere near this stuff. What it takes is multiple soccer practices per week, over and over. That's the only way to get this good.

    • @soccerdots

      For players with little or no prior footwork experience, this is a lot to learn but if you break it up into pieces and gradually build over time it can be done. I've been working with U14 groups who have little footwork experience and with 15-minutes of footwork training every practice, most players can learn these moves by the end of the season. At this rate, it typically takes two seasons for players to feel competent with the moves, but meanwhile they're improving their agility, cardio, and touch on the ball. We also try to make it fun and create training activities that encourage them to incoporate these movements into their game play.

      @@soccerdots 3 years later and let me tell ya, it’s a patience game! Developing good skills is a process you cannot speed through, but a lot of practice and commitment makes the difference.
