I just love Northern Irish football as an Englishman. It's so worth going over just for a game. The football is entertaining, the fans are absolutely wonderful and the beers are so cheap (except at Windsor and central Belfast!).
A pleasure meeting you at the game Sam , many thanks for giving me the chance to speak on the video. Hope to see you back over in Northern Ireland in the near future! 🤝
Great content and video Sam. Seen you yesterday at the game. Great to have you there amongst the Ports fans and soak up some of that mid Ulster derby atmosphere.. even better that you got to see and experience a Portadown win! 🇦🇹🔴⚪ Welcomed to shamrock park anytime 🫡
As a glenavon fan. Good video. Brilliant atmosphere by both sets of fans yesterday. Roll on Boxing Day for hopefully payback 🔵⚪️. Keep up the good work
Amazing video, great to see how much you enjoyed the game at Shamrock park. I had a great time watching it from Baku, Azerbaijan. From a Portadown fan wishing I could have been at the game!
Glad you had a great day at our club Sam, I was further up with the quieter fans as I haven’t the energy to keep up with the young lads. Cheers for giving our we club some exposure and for your kind words. Come back soon 🔴⚪️🔴
I was at this game! You can see me in a couple of these shots, I was sitting behind the Red Terrace sign all game, first appearance at 8:37. Come on Ports!
Love your channel. I watch all of your videos My Dad married a Northern Irish lady, since divorced lol but her parents lived right behind the ground next to the petrol station on the corner (not sure if it's still there?) I'm from England but used to spend the summers there as a kid with my Dad and the family. Never got to go to a game there unfortunately. Wish I'd asked my Dad to go there now but I was young. Fair play looks amazing glad to see footballs absolutely live over there !!!
This was vibrant and your title have illustrated how this derby would be in Northern Ireland, good friends!!!LONG LIVE NORTHERN IRISH FOOTBALL,GOOD FRIENDS!!!👍🏾
Hello great to see you at shamrock park you where standing up beside across on Saturday been following Portadown for near 40 years in the 90s it was rough stuff used to big face to face fights even the old guys got stuck in 🔴⚪💪
Boxing day is always the best over here. Glens v Linfield, Coleraine v Ballymena, Cliftonville v Crusaders, Glenavon v Portadown . Usually all sell outs. The problem with Portadown is the away stand is so far off the pitch.
@@2010oblivion1 the away stand was built with a pitch move in mind, unfortunately it hasn’t materialised as quickly as they hoped but will happen at some stage
If you think that was good you got to experience the Mid-Ulster Boxing day derby. As a Portadown fan, Mourneview is the 2nd best ground in the country after Windsor Park!
I watch' 'Kent Survival' and he gets about 13,000 likes.....but he never asks you to press the like button, like you do.He's good at his job and never gets selfish .I also watch 'John Matthews' the historian and he gets only about 3 or 4 hundred likes, but he never asks for likes.I used to do amateur theatre, winning trophy's occasionally and never got paid. If you don't like what you are doing-then simple don't do it.
If you're looking to get to Solitude to watch Cliftonville, let me know and I'll sort a pass for you. I'll even meet you for a fry and beer beforehand.
Hi Sam, Slightly off topic but...... Was there a reason that Hearts appeared to have limited the number of tickets available for Celtic fans for last night's SPL match? It would appear that Hearts did not sell out their own areas. Did the weather play a part in hundreds of Hearts fans not attending? Either way, would it not make sense to allocate an entire stand to the likes of Celtic? If the decision was made to limit the number of Celtic fans, surely that does not make economic sense? Money is hard to come by these days, so I don't see how limiting fan numbers makes sense; especially when you consider there is probably more Old Firm fans in Edinburgh, than there are Hearts and Hibs fans combined!!
@uglyefe9157 There appeared to be a limited number of Celtic fans at the Hearts match. I'm only asking was this down to a club decision or was it because of the weather. I have no vested interest in either team but I do think that Scottish football does need all the financial help it can get. Hence, it would not make economic sense to limit the number of visiting fans. That's all. No need to get too excited about it.
Why didn’t you ask about Brandon? The Tik tok guy he was trying to get a pro contract in a top European league, what happened to him when he was at portadown?
Love your work as always Sam mate! Wish we had a club in NI free from any sort of religious bias or Old Firm alliances (pay no attention to Portadown but even their songbook is just mini-Rangers, and all the wee lads raging when they went 1-0 down to Dundee Utd in the middle of their own match?). If we had a club that identified with none of it then it might be tempting to support them!
@jdfiend going to Glasgow on Wednesday for the 3rd time this month but sure thanks for making sure I get out of the house for a bit mate 😂 Wasn't even meant to be a jab at anyone but people always find a way to be offended
The Caledonia song was obviously copied from Rangers & was adapted to fit in Portadown legends names etc. I think they started singing it a few weeks back. The other songs are probably copied from lots of other clubs, as that’s what fans do. Very rarely original songs appear on the terraces. They don’t sing any of Rangers ‘political’ songs & it would be a different thing if they did. To call Portadown a mini Rangers because of this a bit daft. It is NI after all & most people at every IL club will have political allegiance one way or the other, to varying degrees. It’s very rare you would attend an IL match without an Ulster flag/Union Jack or a tri colour for instance
I worked in Portadown for 2 years. Salt of the Earth folk, proper community club and back in the top division where they belong. Hopefully Bangor join them next year as well 🟡🔵
Que locura ver como se viven los clasicos (derbys para ustedes) en otras partes del mundo, gracias Footy, desde Argentina mandamos saludos!

This seemed a miles better atmosphere than the Belfast derby
It always is
The linfield glens match can be a bit spicy but since Glentoran stopped being a real force in the league it's become a bit meh really.

I was there when Cork City hammered portadown 7-1 in the setanta Cup. Only 14 of us traveled the 5 hours on a Tuesday night. Fun night
Atmosphere seemed class, hidden gem there!

Nothing bad with Douwe Egberts! Good old Frisian coffee! you should deffo go watch the Frisian Derby at some point!
