I never comment on any TH-cam videos but I must take a minute to thank you guys for these podcasts and all of your other videos. I’m 46 and have started and stopped training because the fitness industry is so overwhelming and confusing. I love how you don’t muddy the water with a bunch of studies that leave me more confused and discouraged. You all present information from real-world experience and leave the final decisions to me based on my own experience. These podcasts have helped me so much.

Interesting that’s how some react that way with diet soda. When I have regular soda, I want more. When I have a diet soda, I usually only have one and sometimes doesn’t finish it even if I like the taste of it just as much

Totally agree with the cardio before weight training senerio, just my personal opinion/experience: ran 3-5 miles before my weight training and my weight PR’s were low and I had that runners typical bod. Switched it up and started weight training then cardio(walking) after the weights and got the full, rounded and ripped look I wanted. At the end of the day, clean health and eating and what you want in a look and performance should be ya main goal. Rock in Fellaz🤙🏽

You guys have completely changed the trajectory of my weight loss results! Great stuff! Can’t wait to see where I land in the next 6 months! I have built muscle and lost fat! I used to do cardio and strength training afterwards and yes my endurance grew but I wasn’t retaining gains and eventually hit a plateau for months - it was very discouraging. So glad I bumped into your content it has changed my life tremendously!. THANK YOUUUUU Gentleman so much! God is clearly using you to ignite change in others. The number one thing you could do for loose skin is extended fasting. Your body recycles the excess protein/tissue. That’s why those who lose weight through fasting do not have excess skin as opposed to those who drop a lot of weight rapidly

I can only speak for myself. But diet soda curbs my hunger and doesn't make me want to binge other stuff. I usually have 2-3 per day and still get enough water, never notice behavior changes.
However I'm a trainer, have been working out consistently for 25+ years, know myself well and what I consume, etc..To me it's the same thing as a sparkling water only slightly more enjoyable.

That loose skin is probably from the OMAD where hecs over-fasting. Plus it doesn't help eating before bed, especially eating within 3 hours before bed because that is going to mess up your sleep which will in turn mess up your hormones and the fact that his body is spending more time digesting than getting into deep sleep it's going to affect his immune system. I understand not being hungry during the day but sometimes you just have to do what is going to do your body best. Cut off caffeine 7 hours before bed, cut off food 3 hours before bed and cut off liquids 1 hour before bed. That dramatically changed my health in a highly positive direction

If you "are" a person interested in doing both in the same session and your also wanting to maximize fat burn isn't it true that fatty acid as a fuel source isn't optimal until around 20 minutes of 60-75% MHR steady rate cardio? So, wouldn't it make sense all the way around to weight train first and then do your cardio. By the time your finished with your weight training wouldn't you be primarily in the fat burning zone. Seems like this strategy would optimize effectiveness and efficiency on both ends. This is what I was told at some point during my days as a trainer and what I always recommended to my clients. I did also tell them that if they preferred to do their cardio first or on non weight training days then to go for it as long as they got it in.

Real question though: if I have to choose just 2 days of a MAPS program which foundational day should I drop?
    OR
If I can only work out 30 minutes a day can I split parts of the foundational from day to day?

Here's my thought: unless you are one of those elite athletes pursuing those marginal gains over the competition, it doesn't really matter. The advantage of RT is you don't lose muscle while doing it. With Cardio, you don't necessarily lose muscle, but it's easier to lose muscle if you're overdoing it, or not eating enough of the right calories. Still, I like the benefits of cardio over the benefits of resistance training, but I try to make room for both.

100% correct boys. Cardio before strength training diminishes your ability to have an intense strength workout....

It's because you guys can't run that I take what you say with a grain of salt. My goal is to NOT be so deconditioned at your guys' age that I can't run. Running is such a fundamental and foundational skill I plan on retaining as long as possible and I encourage my students/clients to maintain the ability, too.

Apparently I'm the outlier with the sleep habits. Lol I'm in bed by 7p every night with all lights off and blackout shades drawn. No problems winding down or sleeping. Up at 4am every day.

I do not compete, but if I ate no artificial sweetener I would gain back the 95 pounds I lost. I will never stop using them.

Exactly 7:58 sums it up. Who cares. Can’t stand academics who think they can comment in this area versus guys who have collectively trained thousands of people over decades.

There’s no excuse for Rhonda Patrick to misinterpret that study. She either didn’t read it herself or she is intentionally misleading people to sell a new “product“.
