    In December I was 280 lbs. Drunk all the time, with no real trajectory in life anymore. I started running (barely) on a treadmill through the winter. I’ve lost almost 50 lbs now, and I look forward to my long runs for some solid “me time”. I stopped drinking, set some goals, and continue to go one more. Running has literally changed everything for me. I appreciate all the things in my life so much more. My eyes are opened. Thanks Nick.
    Edit: Wow thanks for all the comments! Update, I’m down over 60 lbs. I just finished my first ever marathon on Sunday with a time of 4:50. My goal was under 5 hrs so I’m very proud of that. I hope you all can achieve your goals and stick to the grind! I’ve never in my life been in a better place mentally than I am here and now. I will run for the rest of my life and never touch booze again. Its only getting better. Sub 4 hrs next year!

      @@areefareef7675 walked on incline in zone 2 HR for 30-60 minutes until weight came off and I could maintain that HR while running.

      Wish I could give this comment a ❤, I was pretty much in the same boat, drinking myself to an early grave , weighed 340 pounds, quit drinking a year ago this week, started exercising and running, dropped nearly 80 pounds and I’m well on my way to get a hundred pounds weight loss, more importantly I got my life back, and I love running! Nicks videos are an absolute inspiration, I may never get to his level but it’s great improving every day,sober life rules!

      As a person who started and did the same as you. I hated cardio. I hated running. Eh...now... It's kinda enjoyable. I feel like if I don't run my day is effed up haha

    Running has taught me to be PATIENT. We live in a world of social media where everything needs to be instantaneous and glamourous. Running has humbled me and taught me that there is not shortcuts and you just need to be disciplined, consistent, and put the work.

      Running had taught me that sometimes in life we can’t rush cleaning , studying etc. we have to do it wisely . But when you run you can rush and running is the only thing that you can act speedy on.

      i started running a year ago, been doing it everyday for months. i got skinny, felt better, could fit in anything (60kg lowest was 58,8kg… and im 174) mentally and physically better. but it got so boring, i run every route 100x times, i listened to every music out there, could run without taking breaks for hours. i still run but how do i get the motivation back?

    I started running 3 years ago in prison it helped me get my mind out the environment at the time. I’ve been home a year and just completed my first marathon a week ago. I love running it changed my life in many ways!

    If you have problems with sleep, start running. I used to wake up several times through the night and it was destroying my energy levels every day. Once I started running, I started to sleep like a ROCK all the way through the night. You don’t have to go crazy fast or for super long distances… just start by walking around the block if you have to. Stay consistent, then start jogging very slowly for short distances. If you keep at it, eventually you will be able to run a mile… then 2 miles.. etc..

    I was suffering with mental health issues and a bit of depression, I was taking medication for adhd.
    I started running about a year ago, I'm no longer taking medication, I felt upbeat and positive, happy about life and really great overall, anyone thinking about getting into running stop thinking and get out there and run it will guarantee change your life😊

    I’ve been a runner for years, but I really struggled with the marathon distance. Then in 2015 I contracted necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria) and nearly died. Throughout my recovery, running has provided me with a motivator to push my “new” body to see what I can accomplish.
    In 10 days I will run the Med City Marathon in Rochester, MN and qualify for Boston.
    Running not only saved my life when I became sick, but it’s also provided me a way to better myself and inspire others!

    Running has changed my life. In 2020, I suffered from bad anxiety. I felt alone and not good enough as a person. I couldn't run 1/2 a mile without thinking something was wrong with me. I never gave up and embraced the suck. Seeing your videos kept me going. In a month, I will complete my first 1/2 Marathon. #G1M

      Running is really bad for your joints and ankles you will break down soon. Better use elliptical it’s easier on your legs.

    Running totally changed me too. It’s not the significant amount of weight I’ve lost, not the muscle or fitness I’ve gained (although those things are great!). It’s about the confidence I’ve gained in myself, the drastically better mental health & an overall better life that I’ve gained. I feel a better person now that I run. It has given me SO much perspective on things/life-when I run, I process things, or think nothing at all, just focusing on breathing & my footsteps. It’s amazing how much running can bleed into all the other everyday aspects of life that don’t involve running. I did struggle in the beginning with feeling inadequate comparing myself to others, but once I attached myself to the PROCESS of running rather than specific time/distance/pace etc. goals, those specific goals just started happening organically. I used to hate, & I mean hate running in my 20’s…now I can’t imagine life without it.
    It’s not all rainbows & unicorns tho, especially in the beginning. Running is HARD-if it was easy, everyone would do it. But you are capable! Give it a go, & a good consistent go, & it might change your life too!! U got this!!!

    I'm signed up for and training for the Leadville Silver Rush 50 mile trail run in July, largely because of this channel. The mental and physical benefits have made me happy of the person I am and the person I'm working to be. Thanks Nick and BPN team.

    I literally just finished my first Half Marathon when I got home and saw this video. I’ve been running for 10 months. When I signed up 3 months ago my goal was just to finish with out stopping… I just ran a 1:58:20 at 205lbs 5’9”. That was one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m addicted in the best way possible

    In November 2021, I had a short stay in the hospital after getting myocarditis. Visited a cardiologist for 3 months and was finally cleared for normal activities in March. 1 month later, I tore my ACL and meniscus and had a full reconstruction. Due to other personal matters at the time, I fell into depression, and having my freedom of movement taken away from me at the same time made things even harder. At the time, I weighed 215 lbs and was visibly overweight. I decided it was time for me to take control of my health and started lifting weights and running. I'm now down to 175lbs. In March 2023, I ran my first 5k in 7 years, ran what's called the "Tri-Peak Series" which was a 5k, 10k, and 15k up multiple mountains in my area. I completed the Spartan Trifecta with a 5k in Austin, 10k in Col. Springs, and 21k in Seattle. In November last year, I partially retore my same ACL, but it hasn't slowed me down since I was cleared. In July, I will be running my first Ultramarathon in a 50k, known as the Full Moon 50.

    Running has always been my first true passion into fitness. I first started running to get into shape but then realized that running had become a huge part of my life. Running has always been my escape. I can't agree with you any more about how amazing it is being out there when everyone else is asleep. Heck, I can recall a handful of times in where I couldn't fall asleep and I'm out there at 2 AM...just because I can. Life has gotten in the way, in addition to some injuries, but your videos have reignited that spark and made me remember how much I really do love to run.

    Running has become a daily part of my life routine. There isn't anything better than being out on the open roads or trails with yourself and your thoughts. There is a great sense of accomplishment that accompanies this feeling. I remember when a mile was a struggle! Now, I run close to 200 miles per month, and I'm always looking to test my limits.

    I was never a runner but started last year because of Nick Bare (hybrid athlete) and David Goggins, who have both spoken about the mental and physical benefits running provides. I worked my way up from running around the block to doing 25-30 miles per week. Not sure if I will ever get to do a full marathon or an ultra, but I will continue to push myself and maintain physical and mental discipline through running and training. I am 52 and in better shape than ever. Running makes you feel alive and free. Thanks, Nick!

    Just did my first ever half marathon last Sunday. Never ran anything more than a 5K before. Went from being talked into it with not much interest at all, but man now I'm actually loving running. Thought I would do this one to say I did it and be done but now I'm wanting to keep pushing and see what I can do.

    Running has brought me a strength and a determination I didn’t know I had. I am currently in a hospital, I believe I am about to get a Crohns diagnosis, but I won’t let that stop me. I am set to run the Eiger by UTMB this July. I know this throws a kink in the training plan. But I know from past experiences I can solve this problem, move forward, and I WILL toe that line!

    For the longest time, I never considered myself a long distance runner. I did short distance track and field back in high school; then for almost a decade I did not run at all. I picked up running March 2020 when COVID hit and all the gyms closed down. Only thing I could do was run outside and back then I could barely churn out a 2-3 miles before being exhausted. 3 years later, I've done a handful of 10km races and just about to run my 4th half marathon this coming week! Running is such an integral part of my life now and it brings me such joy and euphoria! Look forward to continuing this running journey through life!

    I just retired after 21 years in the Army. I was a 180A with 1st Group. I don't want to be like many guys I see at group that gets fat after retiring. I still feel the connection to my SOF brothers at 1st Group and use this to feel connected and always stay ready. After all, my DD214 says I have a recall when the Army determines it needs me and I can hear the war drum beating. I try to run 5 miles every day because I'm just waiting for that letter saying I got to take a team again. Thanks for the inspiration brother.

    Running not only has made me develop a mentality and motivation that’s extremely strong but it has changed my life. My goal growing up was running in college and now I’m committed to a D1 program. It’s truly changed my life and running has become a part of me and who I am.

    Running has changed my life in many ways. I think the biggest change has been in my mindset. There are so many analogies between different aspects of life and running. Running to me has been a journey of building self efficacy or belief in myself to accomplish tough stuff. Running hasn’t just changed my life, it’s changing my life 🤘.

    Prior military guy here as well. 11B2G. I used to run ALL the time. I used to quite literally, just spontaneously drop what I was doing look at whoever was around me and say I'm going for a run that would turn into 8 miles, 12 miles +.
    Post military, I lost my way (kids, marriage, job etc.) with about any and every excuse I could think of. The thoughts of it were and still are still in my head. I stumbled across this channel; you've inspired me to hit the hard ball again. I think its b/c of how much I can relate to you and what you are speaking about. So, for that, thank you.

    yeah.. the best outcome of running is that it gives you a crazy feeling of abundance, you feel you are well even if you are in the hardest time of your life.. it bandages your wound, clear your head, stiffen your legs, improves your breathing and your voice and hormones etc, ,, it's treasure in every aspect

    The best thing about running that I love is that its a hobby that can be done no matter your income. Running is free. Aside from running shoes, and light jogging clothes, you really dont need anything other than motivation and perservearence.

    Im 61, and am so grateful I still run. Seeing my pulse and blood pressure improve , after running and training regularly was so satisfying.I do suffer injuries, and sometimes the body says stop ; I then need downtime, and that has to be honored. Yr channel is great - TX

    First got into running during the pandemic lockdowns. Really glad I found Nick to follow as an inspirational person in terms of my running, hybrid athlete workouts and work. One thing that drives me so much from running and weight training is the cardio vascular fitness and strength you gain from it and how it improves over time. Being a college student at present, this has motivated me so much in terms of my studies and extra curriculars. Consistent good > occasional great!!

    Running has changed my life to get me out of my comfort zones and do things to become better. To just go out there and do it. To say my mind. I was always the shy kid weird kid. 3 years into running. i’ve never been more open to people. Everyone is sitting on a million dollar ticket. we just have to go and cash it in.

    dec 2020 got into a motorcycle accident.
    feb 2021 decided to run my first 5 miles ever non stop.
    everything beyond that point i cannot forget, my first 15 miles, my first half marathon; 2021 i completed my own challenge of running 1000 miles by dec 30th. i been watching you since 340k subs and i dont ever compare to you but i most def been motivated by emotions thru your journey and seeing someone else experience what running has done for me aswell. Im on a path to let people know that running no mattet at what stage in your life will highly impact you more as a person than anything else. even got emotional watching your friends half marathon finish. keep this up; beautiful video.

    My school and university years were focused on rugby, so I was fit, but running as training was always a chore. Now I’m older (and quit contact sports for the sake of my bones!) I run. It was on and off for years, mixed up with other sports, but more consistent and the main focus for a few years now. The change in my overall well being, stress and anxiety levels, and just day to day happiness is remarkable. I truly think committing to running can change your life.

    I am going to get back to running myself. Lifelong athlete. Now 48.5 years young. Many life trials and tribulations the past 5 years. Everything from mold toxicity. Car crashes and surgeries. Never let myself go when I couldn’t work out. Knowing I couldn’t work out. Just ate well and kept my weight low. Just lost a lot of muscle. Sauna was a savior during that time. Get the heart rate up when you physically cannot.

    Ran my first marathon yesterday, 4:32
    Disappointed because I was going for a 4 hour marathon but I had a pinched nerve around mile 3. Definitely hurt but I pretty much limped the whole way and pushed through it without quitting! Huge shoutout to your videos for helping me train for a marathon

    What you called out here is right on point and I can't oversell the point about the solitude. Our lives have gotten so busy and noisy. When you are out there all alone on the trails something happens. I can't explain it but I LOVE IT and I need it. I love my wife and I love my kids, I love the grind of my job and I love my life but that 1-2 hours a night when I hit the trails is magical. I'm opposite where I like to run while the sun is setting. The perfect run is after a hard day of work, playing with the kids, supper, etc. Then I hit the trail and I time my route so that I'm making it back to the car just as I would have to pull out my headlamp. There is so much wildlife out at that time of day and the air is so still and calm. I can't explain it but it's magical. I get home, shower, have a bit of downtime and then hit the bed. Do it all over the next day. As I type this now I'm itching to get out there and be alone with my thoughts!!

    Nick, I started running because of you 3 months ago. I played sport from 11 through to 28 then became a gym bro. I ate way to much, had a child (and another one) and ended up obese, unfit, lifting weights with no direction making promises to myself id never fulfil. I’m a long way off fulfilling my promises and potential but since running and focusing more on my cardiovascular base I feel so much better. The idea of being a Hybrid athlete is something id never thought of until I discovered your channel. From one dad to another, thank you man!

    I have always thought that running was the absolutely best thing that I could do to maintain and improve my mental toughness, and agility. Running taught me to respect and value my opponent and wish the best for them as well as for myself. No other sport contains this value set. I swim now because my body is too old and beat to run anymore. But swimming does not have all the same elements of camaraderie as running. I am glad to see that many others have discovered the joys and benefits of running. Keep at it.

    I grew up a sprinter and doing hurdles so anything more than 400m was torture. Then the Army forced me to 2 miles and more. Coming across this Guy Nick on TH-cam with a similar back story as mine made me think to challenge myself in those areas hardest for me. Since then, I've completed a 10 miler, half marathon, triathlon, tough mudder and helped others complete races. Thanks for the inspiration, God bless you and the BPN family! G1M

    Great video! I completed my first marathon last year and I jokingly say “it was something I’ve always NEVER wanted to do”.
    Most important lesson it taught me:
    YOUR CAPACITY FOR DISCOMFORT CHANGES BASED ON THE DISTANCE YOU COMMIT YOUR MIND TO THAT DAY.

      So good. This is EXACTLY how I operate. I will do whatever distance or time I tell myself I'll do and I'll suffer whatever I need to suffer in order to accomplish that distance. If I say "You're doing 8 today.", I will always do everything needed to hit 8. You simply have to commit and never back down from that.

    I got on the treadmill a little over a year ago, I was 340lbs and could hardly walk mile. I’m about 230lbs today and I run outside now about 3-4 miles a day, 7 days a week. What it’s done for me mentally is amazing, running has completely changed my entire life.

    This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 196 subs and almost 82 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

    It has become an essential part of my day. Usual in the early morning if not I will squeeze a lunch run. My wife still does not get why is so meaningful but it really helps me, stay in that zone in which I can think or not think, setting my mind worry free.     I've run several trail ultras but last year decided to run a road marathon. My long runs had to be done mid week due to schedule, which meant starting at around 5am for a 16-22 mile runs. Your take on silence and solitude and running when the world is asleep and finishing when the world is waking up hits home. I think running without music is key, to just let your mind wander and not have any objective or focus besides the one step in front of another.

    Man I don’t even know where to start, running has saved my life. I was addicted to opioids for nearly 5 years and overdosed twice. I nearly lost my life and almost lost my wife and kids due to it. I got clean and found running, started with 1/2 mile then a mile then it turned into therapy. It turned into me just being thankful and really working out my mental demons that I created. I’ll be clean for 6 years on October 16th and I’ll be doing my very first Half IronMan on July 23rd. Just thinking about crossing the finish line makes me emotional. It will just be a giant victory over a lot of things and living proof people can change. Love your content and thanks for everything!

    As a veteran, I thought deployments would kill me, and the special mind f*ck that being on a ship would bring. In 2021 I my heart tried to kill me. Five years removed from active duty and at the age of 43, I died...twice. Today, 2.5 years later I am running again. From walker to running and I'm f*cking proud of myself, even if I can only manage a mile. Nick, you're my moto. Thanks for the videos.

    I got out of a long term relationship 2 years ago and was lost. I had no direction in life because that relationship was part of my identity. I discovered running through listening podcasts and was able to not only have a direction in life but also influence those around me through my new change. I soon became an avid runner and have since signed up for running events. Running changes your outlook on life in a positive way and I am grateful for it!

    Nice post, dude. I started running late last year and have fallen in love with it. I couldn't run 50 meters down the street without dying. Now I'm training for my first half marathon. I also love it coz its time to myself. It's fantastic for my physical and mental being. Appreciate your insights.

    Running helped me get in the best shape health-wise since 2012, and my mental health, It helped me lose almost a 100 pounds. I stopped watching you for a couple of years but now that I'm in my running journey I started to go through all the vids that I didn't see and watching you go through your journey and life.     In December 2021 I kicked my addiction to gambling, aged 29.
    In January 2022 I started jogging from street to street.
    In March 2023 I ran a sub 3:16 marathon.
    I hope to improve my speed to qualify for London and Boston, but running made me a better person, more present in the moment for my family and friends, improved my patience, decision making and gave me a reason for maintaining a daily routine. Don't know how I ever managed without it!

    Excellent video, I love the personal experiment & evolution of running. I used to hate it. My hubby, ultramarathoner Beto Magana, always makes it look so easy, which never resonated with me. I would not allow myself to say "I'm a runner" because my measly 10 or 13 miles was nothing compared to his accomplishments. (Ho hum, wife of ultramarathoner.) Anyway, today, I relish the quiet, increase my discipline, stopped comparing myself to anyone else, and acknowledge my gratitude for the progress over time. I don't need a team, party or club... that would muddy the course for me. It is amazing how running can change one's life.

    Thanks for this video. I have just got back into running as I have agreed to undertake a 10K with some work colleagues. I used to run a lot when playing football (soccer) but stopped around 10 years ago as my hip deteriorated. It’s now three and a half years since hip resurfacing and after just focussing on strength training (particularly progressively heavy deadlifting to get my hip muscles where they need to be) I now have the confidence to start running again. I had forgotten how my every day thoughts and focus improves with running. I have always been an explosive athlete - preferring the short, intense activities instead of the long slow activities. In some ways I think that is because my mind prefers to be distracted by many things rather than assessing/confronting the important stuff in life. When you go for those longish runs you can’t but think about, among other things, your life, your life choices, who you are and what you want to be or be remembered for. For me, running is physical and mental development all in one.

    I hated running after getting out of the Marines. Got back into it a few years later after being in the worst shape of my life. I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon in 2:19:16 in my BPN Go One More shirt. I went from struggling to run 3 miles with lactate build up to a half and then a 9.5 mile bridge right in Savannah Georgia. Loved every second of this journey and am looking forward to a sub 2 hour half. Whether I’m running 5, 8 , or 10 in the beating sun or pouring rain, running is my release!

    I lost a lot of friends in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010-2011. I’ve been holding onto that guilt for a long time. I am going to a divorce with a woman that was my rock before, during and after that deployment and it’s honestly the hardest thing that I have ever been through. You kind of mentally prepare yourself to lose friends in combat but when you think you’ve found your soulmate and one day all of that is gone it breaks your brain. Running every morning has kept me alive this week. When Nick says it gets emotional on runs that resonates with me. I often finish my runs with tears in my eyes but it’s extremely therapeutic and I feel like I’ve purged all my bad emotions and I’m ready to start my day.

    I was diagnosed moderate to severe depression and anxiety very late but I realised that I was suffering since long time from this disease the only thing that supported me when I was not taking medication was running and when I started taking antidepressant along with running I recovered within an year.If in those days I would have been a couch potato or just a gym going guy lifting weights for 15 min. It would have been way more difficult for me to bear the pain of this mental disorder. For everyone suffering the same thing I would suggest go to doctor take medicine take some counselling if required take nutritious diet and do running you will recover in an year or two for sure, It's just a phase it will go away like a dark cloud in the sky vanishes just stay strong till that short time🙂🙏

    I quit my job in July 2022 to pursue a passion as a creative (Mostly a digital and acrylic painter). I had a period of time being unfocused, unmotivated, and low energy for 3-4 months. I decided to improve my health with running as a way to increase my focus and creativity beginning of 2023. First run was a painful 14 minute mile. Second run was even slower... Today I can run 4-5 miles in autopilot at a 8:30 pace. I have my first piece of work in a gallery, sold several paintings, opened an online business, and now have my first solo art show on August 5th. It wasn't all just running, but the running taught me discipline and consistency.

    Had my longest run yet yesterday, hit 9 miles! I signed for my first marathon at the end of the year and gave myself 9 months to prepare for it. Would never have thought of it without your videos, thanks Nick🤙🏼

    “Be like water,” is what I think about when I’m running. It’s learning how to be in the moment within the overall environment and experience. It’s a great metaphor for life, where there has been many highs and lows throughout the journey. With my last ultra (50 miler) I was able to complete the full 50 and place 3rd overall. I had to learn to read my body, the environment, and strategize the entire journey, just like in life. My previous ultra which was my first, I didn’t even complete my 50 within the time allotted. This translates into my professional and personal life. I have to approach life as a marathon, meaning, running my own race, training, feeling my body/mind, feeling the overall environment, to cross the finish line and not feeling gassed. It’s the stride you set, the pace you maintain, and the mental fight and visualization you feel in during the marathon that will help carry you further. One step at a time, and one mile at a time.

    In 2009 I was a store manager for Rite Aid here in Ohio. I always wanted to run the Cleveland Marathon because we sponsored it and I worked the water stations. 3 years later I started my journey toward running and losing the weight needed. 2 years after that I ran my first full marathon. I did it. I was so proud of myself. Now I’m on that journey again because of Nick and the BPN team. Thanks for the videos! They are amazing support when you really need it!

    This year I started weightlifting. I also started stationary bike and that turned into running. Last year I could only run a handful of times. This year I've done at least 3-4x that in just a few months and going longer distances. Amazing! It really just gets better and better with fitness.

    Running has taught me to be strong in mentality , that to archieve some distance i need to embrace what i ever have to get to that distance it take a lot of journey since i start , i just a newbie that start from early off this year i feel like became a diffrent person now since i doing running enter the event and feel like it is the thing that make me feel like a new life archievement that i will make it to the top one day

    I started running in November 2022, being overweight and very unhappy. My goal for 2023 was to run a 10 miler, currently I ran 10 miles in 1h 17, ran a 21km in 1.45 & aiming to run my first marathon next month. I'm so amazed about the change it has given me and is teaching me a lot about being consistent and having a strong mindset. There is still weeks where I run les often, but I'm growing in to the sports and it has been life changing.

    When I started running 7-8 years ago it was only to spend time with my dad who was training for a marathon and I agreed to run it with him. Just so I get those couple hours with him solo. My parents had just divorced. My training and nutrition was no where near where it needed to be! The marathon was brutal but at least I had that memory with my dad. Now two kids later I run and strength train because it’s what I love to do. It’s brings me solitude and comfort knowing my inner strength has come a long way since my parents divorce. And now my dad is joining me on some trail runs. Running has been so healing for me.

    Good video Nick I’m a Avid runner my runner myself as well as hybrid athlete and preparing to leave for Air Force all that you stayed in this video you took the words from my mouth that I can relate to you on so many levels as a runner although I’m not a marathon runner the lessons the joy the rewards that come with running are 1 of 1 especially when your gassed and have shifter thru all gears and you reach your lactic acid threshold that’s when resilience kicks in and will test your heart I love it keep it up Nick💯

    Recently got back into running. There is a feeling of joy and freedom I can only find when I run compared to other forms of exercise. Sometimes it feels like I am flying across the ground. Not as mobile as I used to be but I am enjoying the journey to get there.

    I’m addicted to the silence and solitude of the running workout. Nice to set my mind clear, think about the challenges that I may have. The thing that I would have to face. But now I’m injured, trying to fix a sciatic nerve problem that is putting me apart of the tracks 2 moths now. And I miss all that solitude and silence… looking forward to have it back!

    Thank you Nick for your inspirational videos and podcast. Running changed my life for the better after realizing I was eating pretty unhealthy and not exercising. When I became a father at 28, I chose to change my health through exercise and better nutrition so that I can live longer. In October I will run the half marathon (Uppsala Marathon). The goal is maybe an Ironman.

    I've completed over 15 half marathons, did a triathlon and 1 marathon. What running has though me is how mentally strong I am even when I've hit the wall or my body says no I can't but my mind says you got this! It's a beautiful sport.

    Couldn't agree more that "comparison is the thief of joy" - I constantly have to remind myself, at 39 years old I started cycling... at 40 I ran the fist km I'd ever run. At almost 50 now, I've lost 85lbs, done 5 half Ironman, 2 full Ironman, 4 World Major Marathons and numerous other bike, running, triathlon races.... Training has given my health back, created a circle of friends, and made me a better person!

    Running has changed me in many ways. I tan my first marathon last October. Before then I was all talk and I haven’t pushed myself to do hard things before. This was the first time I had pursued something out of my comfort zone and starting from ground zero. It has changed my life for the better giving me more clarity, time, and commitment to my own health. Running is an unexplainable habit to continue and push through everyday.

    I've always been running, but never on a competitive level or races.
    After having a setback in my profession I really got into longer and longer races. It's amazing how much you progress. Not even in running, but in everything. If I think back of what I thought was hard a while back and what I now consider hard, not comparable...
