Only coaches I remember was back in 1962 - RMC’s (1962) and later RCL’s (1965) on London Transport Green Line services the 721’s thylakoids had fluorescent lighting, they were very posh coaches, and tube lighting at the time on Routemasters was a very nice to see in the 1960’s.
Where as now it's horrid and I want the old bulbs back! haha! Funny how things change...

1992 would have been the time when my father was heading up the electrical line at Aldenham works, so he was probably responsible for the fluorescent light retrofit (but not the bodged removal of the incandescent lamps)

Yeah I get that l. Judging by how buggered the stuff is underneath, there’s a tiny part of me that wishes I had left it alone hahaha
I know its a bit late but just a little tip. When drilling aluminum rivets grease the drill bit to stop the aluminum sticking to it.

Well done for taking care when dismantling the but mate. I am involved a group here in ireland restoring old buses and you would be surprised the amount of buses you would find wrappers off condoms or used condoms under seats. One common thing you find is old tickets and keys and empty coke bottles 🤣🤣

Ooo a Vespa man, I got a MK1 T5 in my front room alongside the 617th built Lambretta LI150 regged in '58. I cut my scootering teeth on a banana yellow R reg Primavera which was just about the fastest thing on 10 inch wheels going hehe One of the old Bromley lot, used to on occasion hang out with the A21 Animals, that was when I had my 1961 Douglas 152L2 which was British built over in Bristol and I used to annoy mods by parking my infamous pile of doings next to their fancy plush scooters and they used to move their rides away from mine with their noses in the air hehe

I remember RML 2730. Drove this bus for years on the route 38. It was one of the faster ones we had on the route.
2730 never drove 38 so you might’ve got her mixed up with another. Still very cool though.
I'm sure I did as at arriva they used to swap and lend buses between Tottenham and Clapton depots. I could be wrong but when 73 went bendy Clapton got the RMLs from Tottenham.

How much would it cost to replace all the windows on that bus if they did actually break?
It’s about £50 per sheet of glass
For me it all for what you find inside them when you do the strip out
And look at all the money so the bus had cost you less 😂😂
