He talks about doing Dial M For Murder in Sullivan IL - I could've went and seen him back then - my mother and I talked about going at the time but then we didn't go for some reason. I've always wished ever since then that I had taken my one chance-in-a-lifetime to see my Barnabas Jonathan Frid. I have spent the last few months binge-watching Dark Shadows on tubi (it's free!) - watched all 1000+ eps and now I'm watching them all a second time! (I'd never seen it in color - we didn't have a color tv back then!) Plus I've been watching all the youtube DS-related videos, music videos, interviews, etc. Enjoying DS all over again!
+Matilda Woodhouse, I appreciate your kind thoughts. A good friend of mine is the interviewer. I did attend the performance at San Francisco's Curran Theater which he was promoting in this video. And so I did get to shake his hand in the lobby after the show. And I still enjoy DS after all of these many decades! Be well, MW ...
tricksf Your friend did well at interviewing Jonathan. I am a Brit and knew nothing of DS during the 1980s so didn't get a chance to see either the series then nor see Jonathan's readings. I am now currently on 1970 PT- just love DS. Jonathan was such an amazingly talented man! Thank you and good health and cheer to you too!

Both Jonathan and the Interviewer seem remarkably comfortable together. That, to me, adds to the particular charm of this Video. Frid is often quite UNCOMFORTABLE in many interviews, right?
Heyyy Sousa I remember you from the conventions and a post you made about your autographed, shirtless picture of actor Johnny Depp when he was younger. Yeah he was hot but Jonathan Frid in the 1950's with his slicked back hair was hotter than Depp was. Did you know that Johnny Depp was also a childhood fan of Dark Shadows too and that the Hall writers had considered Depp for the serous role of Barnabas in the 1991 revival series before Ben Cross? I think Curtis said that Depp was too young for the role and that Curtis did not care for Mr. Cross neither but decided on Ben Cross above the others actors that auditioned. I think Depp was hot back then and loved him in the movie Sleepy Hollow. I would have loved to have seen Depp do a serious version of the character and see him shirtless, like that picture you have of him. wolf. ;) @Paul message me. :)
Did Mr. Frid ever come out of the coffin / closet in his older age , as a Gay man? Now I read this book about Louis Edmonds , the other actor from the same TV show and fans said that he, Mr. Edmonds did come out finally , to live his truth. So, I was wondering if Mr. Frid ever came out of the closet to live his truth or would that have crushed the hearts and fantasies of so many of Frid's older lady fans. LOL and we know that he sure had a lot of nutty obsessive lady fans. I read about all the letters and Polaroid pictures these ladies sent to him. Poor guy. Of course he could not have come out back in the day. He would have lost his job, his career, everything.
I loved him. Still do.

I could listen to his voice for hours......SWOON...
Thank you, always nice to see Jonathan's interviews.

Oh Jonathan so handsome.
Most gay actors are very handsome indeed.
Great video with Jonathan!
