    Those who’ve never experienced depression are often the ones who come up with brilliant solutions like “just think positive” 😒

      Yup. Spend one 1 hour on social media and you will find that everyone is an expert on how to treat depression, and its obvious they have never had it nor have they spent 10 min learning what it actually is.

      One should go talk to a professional, friends and family members are likely to not understand that as much as professionals

      @@skinnyrick93 Even those saying they treat it. The comments they make and the unbelief in their face when you say you don’t feel better yet your not staring into space or still working. They think your still functioning so it can’t be that bad; makes me sick. They have no clue about depression. Not a clue

    Psilocybin, MDMA and LSD all need to be removed from schedule I and placed as schedule II substances. People are dying from this disease and the solutions are there, let’s start to utilized psychedelic therapy.

    She knows what she is discussing and all the funding needed should be available to continue and research more and offer help to people and for this information be available to primary care physicians and specialists, counselors, psychiatrists and more. I'm a Volunteer Patient Advocate and Volunteer Peer Support Specialist experiencing this and the immobilizing pain or RSD now called CRPS Cimplicates the issues and leaves me with going to one appointment after the other fortunately in wonderful medical transport for countless years and there is no help and it's wasting money that could be utilized to help resolve this instead of leaving us suffering unnecessarily. Suicide goes against my Spirituality but thinking about it every day isn't healthy and no one understands nor do most care. Sincerely, Empath plus...

    Thank you for sharing this! This medical diagnostic review and treatment option needs to be a first line evaluation available now to patients! Seeking help when you have treatment resistant depression needs to be better understood and identified by the Mental Health community. I watched my son suffer for two years and after 3 suicide attempts finally ECT was offered and fortunately helped but through his illness many practitioners blamed him for his depression and SI and many recommended institutionalization and pushed for just discharge from the hospital. The MH system needs change and financial support to improve and develop new treatment options and care.

    I never understood how someone with depression and anxiety is supposed to find the strength to go to even one appointment for help, much less more than one appointment. The person that I am thinking of is old and does not remember ever having a good day in their entire life. They have so much anxiety that they cannot even find the mental strength to commit suicide. They are boxed into a "living hell" by extreme fear at every conceivable exit. I feel sorry for this person but I do not think anybody can help someone in that kind of condition.

    • @justinebourke9449
      @justinebourke9449 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is exactly how I am. I would love to be able to talk to this person if I could and let them know I understand the relentless living hell.its such a lonely, terrifying state. We so badly need some comfort. They are lucky somebody like you understands this much about their state and cares though I bet they don't feel lucky I'm sure they are aware of your genuine care, it's just about impossible to feel any gratitude for anything when you're so completely despairing.
      Bless you for your care and concern for this person. It is terribly difficult to not be able to help someone you care about.

      Your comment above is so poignant and psychologically you have understood this person’s mental status “ living hell” more than any number of therapists, so please don’t give up on this person. Maybe you are the anointed one for this person. God bless. Take care of yourself and the other.

I also have had migraines for 30+ years. The ringing in my head/ears is getting stronger. Something has to change; and I don't know what to do!? Any suggestions?

    I would love to be a part of this study....I'm very prone to refractory depression. My teen son had his first onset of mental illness at exactly the same age as I did (10). Because of this, I'm pretty sure it's hereditary. When I was a baby and toddler I suffered from Petit Mal and at age 7 started phenobarbital for it.

    Meds work temporarily...then stop. Too many side effects. Psychotherapy works but not long lasting instead needing it forever. Bipolar depression is the Worst. Depression with Anxiety can truly drive you to seclude or think of suicide just to end it. Maybe one day, a proper med or med cocktail will be found with less side effects.

      Agree 100%>>>Bipolar Depression with Anxiety is never ending with pauses but always comes back.
      The meds are temporary, ECT causes damage, Talk therapy doesn't help an issue with phsiological issues.
      After all these yrs of study...we know very little more than from previously.
      Research needs to be more involved and new minds looking at this constant, prevalent physical and mental issue in our society.
      As a nurse I'm appalled. As a patient I'm pissed off

    Isn't " molecule " just another word for drug. Confusing double talk is not confidence inducing

    • @LibertasOrationis
      @LibertasOrationis 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes molecule could be just a drug.. she doesn't give away too much, which is very disappointing.. I must say though that the treatment for folate related depression would not be a drug, and is already used for depression in some cases, she just didn't say which form.. but I could make an educated guess..
      Nor would Riboflavin, which she mentions and is not a drug either.. however, it would only work in very rare circumstances..
      I have been saying it is metabolic for years, and because that is the case; you can create a custom treatment..

    • @benlevy7872
      @benlevy7872 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no. The drug she's referring to is likely Kuvan (sapropterin), which is the synthesized form of a chemical your body naturally produces -- tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4). For genetic reasons some people cannot produce as much of this as a normal healthy person would. This paper, coauthored by Pan, may interest you: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3116226/
