Honestly, I understand the discussion around the image quality on the Neo, but at the end of the day, it's a drone that's built to resist everything and that costs 200€ in its cheapest format, for what it costs, I think the camera is more than enough, especially considering the target audience
@@chansey161 absolutely - that’s why I also made the point that I do feel the camera isn’t that bad. The bar is set incredibly high with the other drones out there but for what the Neo is, it’s fine
They where both recorded with the same settings so I tried to keep it as fair as possible although admittedly the O4 may have had more vibration due to the mount method - this wouldn’t have helped much at 30fps

Should probably discuss the potential vibrations affecting the air unit with your setup. Nearly all the new builds for the air units are designed to absorb vibrations which seem to help image quality.
@@shuai83 yes that’s a good point - although I don’t think sharpness was in an issue with the O4 footage even at 1/60s shutter speeds. The mount I made was using TPU but obviously not optimised for vibration
If I didn't own the NEO I would have got it wrong, but what gave it away for me was the colour seemed flatter and the video had less contrast so more would need to be done in video editing. I was surprised about the definition of grass and pebbles vs the Air Unit so that nearly threw me off the scent and I could have got it wrong.
@@dronewilder5234 That's good to know, I have only just started trying the FPV mode and first flights in Beginner mode, I need to practice a lot more in the Lift Off SIM.
Well this is disappointing. I have the Neo and I like it but the noise is awful and the camera isn't great. I thought the better image was shot on the O4, I was wrong. I guess I'll skip the O4 lite and just get the O4 Pro. Thanks for the video. Maybe next one is for a low light comparison.
I do actually have a night flying video coming up in the next day or two. The thing with the Neo is, if you shoot in FPV mode and use manual camera setting to control the iso, it’s not too bad but RC2/RC-N3 control does cause a lot of digital crop and that creates some pretty awful image qualities
If I were a very cynical person, I'd say the air unit is exactly what's in the Neo, and the difference is just the software (ex., deliberately disabling 4K 60 FPS on the Neo) and lens assembly. Edit: and it seems you concluded pretty much the same thing.
Yes although we had similar things happen with the O3 air unit which supported 120fps 4k while the Avata (1) which was thought to use the same system was also capped at a lower frame rate. I believe it’s down to processing power as the air units don’t have to do any flight control processing - or it’s deliberately capped.
So I was actually wrong! I was watching for that issue with the jitter on wide swaths of like texture… and I swear I saw the O4 unit do it in spots.. so I thought right side was Neo… imagine my shock!
The O4 actually had a few moments where stabilisation (gyroflow) freaked out a bit - that could have been down to my crude mounting though so I didn’t want to unfairly make a big deal of it
Before the revel I most certainly thought it was the Neo on the Left, but on some shots it clearly showed them being much closer then some showed the Neo being much worse. But of course I am watching it on a 6.7" S22 so very hard to tell the difference, only those watching on a large computer monitor or big screen TV would see the true difference.
@@ghostdog9441 i tried to match the positions as well as possible but yes there are slight difference in places - you’re correct. not too bad for the Neo at some scene i thought neo was the 04 air.
Nice vidio❤
Well ! I got them wrong!! I’m very surprised, as I have a good eye for Quality!!
The neo is great for the price.I wouldn't be able to build a drone like this for the price. Is a perfect little fpv cruiser.
Neo lacks dynamic range, but yest seems to handle direct light better.
Maybe the Neo has a lens coating which the O4 is missing
Why you did not turn down the sharpness on dji neo??? its not fair comparison!
They where both recorded with the same settings so I tried to keep it as fair as possible although admittedly the O4 may have had more vibration due to the mount method - this wouldn’t have helped much at 30fps
wow... just wow...
The 04 units or overrated hype , I still prefer the 03 🎉
@@ronniequalls7217 obviously would have to compare the O3 to the O4 pro which is much better than the one I reviewed but people may still prefer the O3, especially with prices presumably dropping
@ I’ve seen a couple comparisons and the 03 looked better , you get a little better penetration with the 04 and they got the race mode but I don’t race , so yea it would be a waist of money 💰, I’ll wait on the 05 before I upgrade, which should be much better than both !!!
agree
Should probably discuss the potential vibrations affecting the air unit with your setup. Nearly all the new builds for the air units are designed to absorb vibrations which seem to help image quality.
@@shuai83 yes that’s a good point - although I don’t think sharpness was in an issue with the O4 footage even at 1/60s shutter speeds. The mount I made was using TPU but obviously not optimised for vibration
It’s the same EXACT camera between the two. So why does the Neo look so much better?
If I didn't own the NEO I would have got it wrong, but what gave it away for me was the colour seemed flatter and the video had less contrast so more would need to be done in video editing. I was surprised about the definition of grass and pebbles vs the Air Unit so that nearly threw me off the scent and I could have got it wrong.
The Neo does produce much better quality footage in FPV mode, gyro flow stabilised than when using RC2/RC-N3 control.
@@dronewilder5234 That's good to know, I have only just started trying the FPV mode and first flights in Beginner mode, I need to practice a lot more in the Lift Off SIM.
The angle of the 2 cameras are different, it's a pity you couldn't match them more carefully.
Tbh I preferred the image quality of the Neo
1:07 I think he is using TinkerCad as a designing software, gets the job done. 😅
@@YangLovecchio guilty as charged - I’m far from a pro at designing stuff 😂😂
Why we still dont have new video about crappy dji Flip ? :)
@@gamenwl it’s in the making 🙂
@@dronewilder5234 It does seem like the O4 wins in some areas… others go to the Neo. Very cool test, sir!!
the position of the camera is different towards the light, therefore different results, i think so
@@ghostdog9441 i tried to match the positions as well as possible but yes there are slight difference in places - you’re correct. A lot of the tests where done in fixed exposure settings though so shouldn’t make a huge difference and lens flare was visibly worse even in clips where the camera tilt was identical.
pa cuando el dji flyp
I will do some Flip content very soon
@@dronewilder5234 espero el video I'm waiting for the video
Personally speaking, I found the Neo footage better...and I didn't get it right before the reveal.
👍
Neo is gimbled, you can see the 04 struggling on the horizon, you can see it in the distance so it is effecting everywhere.
FOV, STOPS, NOISE, FPS, ISO - ALL 😁
The image quality in the forest is better on the air unit. It’s blurry on the Neo..
@@Indy64738 I thought that too after later examination. Also the footage on the shingle beach
@@dronewilder5234love your video btw!😎😎

Well... oke.... Good job neo i geuss
Both produce decent video for the weight. With better controlled light I’d say they are on par with the O4 having some nice extra features.
@@dronewilder5234 Well maybe, so far the neo took a win IMO with no skils of editing.
huy me sorprendio pense que era neo y no el neo tiene buena calidad mejor el neo si
They look extremely comparable footage quality wise.
@@AtortAerials yes to a large extent they are
The air unit was a lot better! Into the sun the Neo was better. All other shots the O4 was better.
So basicallly people could buy a Neo to fly FPV or gut a Neo and stick that to a selfbuild? 😂
@@JasperEllens other than sacrificing 60fps 4k - yes. Again would need two controllers though 😂.
Я сразу угадала кто где!
Stereo drone, fly in 3D!
😂
I'm wondering when someone will actually do that, I'm sure for flying fpv stereoscopy would be better to see perspective.
this is soooo infomative which i was trying to test, as th-cam.com/video/zmj8xP_44Hw/w-d-xo.html this video had extremely good dji neo camera which astonished me,
but o4 dissapointed me soooo much of the blurry quality! thanx!
Has anyone told you that you look quite a lot like Henry Cavill?
