I have 2 autoharps and I haven't played it in a long time. I will get and start playing it again. Thank you for inspiring to play again. I Love all your music.
Jo Ann, I just got an auto harp gifted to me by a friend and this video makes me want to play it forever. What a fine video to get you inspired and energized . It couldn't be better! Please come to Nova Scotia and play for us!!!
Not for the first time do I wish I'd been born in Appalachia, or within a handy distance from it, instead of Belfast, Ireland. Magical music by a magical musician. Gotta try and lay my hands on one, the instrument that is!
Jo Ann what Beautiful music , listening to your music , I think i have found what i have been looking for i play guitar, keys , violin , and pedal steel but nothing as sweet as an autoharp , thank you so much for that sound .
Thanks, its nice to hear one of these played well.....theres many examples of poorly miced AutoHarps and too much strumming. I really like your picking style and volume dynamics!
The strings of autoharp are almost identical to the black and white keys of a piano, when you are no longer a beginner in playing an autoharp and you've quite memorized and familiarized every note of the 36 strings of an autoharp you can easily find each note you want to play. When it comes to plucking, for example you have a particular string/note to play, even if you hit another string next to it, some of it is muted depending on what chords you are pressing (that's why most autoharp players no need to worry if they unintentionally hit other strings) because unlike the chords of a guitar, autoharp chords are 'singular' where there are specific "chord buttons".
Sorry to say, but it all sounds the same, a boring toy pling-pling-pling with no tonal differences. After listening for a few minutes, the pling-pling sound and frequency (without any sort of "bassline") are making me quite nervous.
Joann Smith is the Angel of autoharps. I just ❤ her.

Thanks, its nice to hear one of these played well.....theres many examples of poorly miced AutoHarps and too much strumming. I really like your picking style and volume dynamics!
beautiful technique
Oh, my, that's pretty. ❤
Amazing. How do your fingers find all those individual notes when there are so many strings so close together? That amazes me.

이 하프소리는 왜 이리 맑아요 다른 하프인가요 한국의 하프에 이소리가 안나던데 이리 청명할까요 악기 포인트 잡는 부분이 다르기도

Anyone know what kind of autoharp she has?
This is part of why God created music.

Very good play. It’s just that the instrument itself has limited application.
