- Here is my follow up, 6 months post surgery reflections: • ICL surgery 6mths, and...
I had ICL surgery for myopia. I tell my story and the pros and cons of having ICL instead of laser. The second half of the video is my diary, up to two weeks post surgery. It was like a roller coaster, one day great the next really bad. I wish I knew better what to expect and to have patience. But I hope this video will give you an idea what it is like to have the surgery.
Thank you for this video and the update video you did 6 months later (I have just watched both). I decided about a month ago that I would get ICL surgery, but have been feeling very nervous. I haven't been to be brave enough to pay the deposit and book it in. You have given me the extra bit of bravery I needed, and I'm going to do it first thing tomorrow morning! Thank you so very much for sharing your experience.
@@lmagee7109 wonderful! Thank you for sharing and all the best wishes 🥰
How's your halos and glares right now. Any dry eye problem? My surgery date is also fixed on 22 August.
Please make an update video
How is your vision now? Is it still bright?
Hi thanks for uploading your experience here. I also did the same surgery and it’s been 16 days haha. My eyesight is just as same as before the surgery in daylight but I am having trouble to see at night because of rings and blurry light and my eye turns red easily when I feel tired.
I might have to think positive and not worry too much haha.
It’s really assured to know that someone has the same surgery like me. Thanks!
이재호 yes, I had the same. Even for months it still wasn’t so good at night. Now finally about 7 months it is much much better. I hope you will also get better soon!
Hey m great to see you happy you explain whole procedures so beautifully I m 28 and I hv vision in only one eye since birth m very high myopic I got floaters alot my left eye has - 17 and right is - 20 my left eys has only vision and right one I can't read anything and doctor suggest me for ICL I m so worried but feel good to see ur video it really encouraged me.
Thank you for sharing. I wish you all the best for your vision.
Have a look at my ICL consultation vlog. My friend and I are considering it.
Hi, I have very strong myopia -20.5 on both eyes. Not sure if Icl is any good to me .... I am diabetic too. I haven't discussed the procedure with any ophthalmologist yet , abit worried and nervous
@@Redha74 where do you live? I have my consultation booked for November in London. My friend has her final prescription check on the same day. I don’t know if I am suitable yet. Will find out next month! I am the opposite of you, have a plus prescription. I plan to film as much as I can, so subscribe to my channel for my content on this next month!
@@KhansaMaliks I live in UK. I wish everything will ho well with you. Please give me update after your appointment please.
Hi, may I contact you privately in order to pick up additional info concerning ICL lenses and their implantation please? I have severe myopia.
Hi . Great video. .
My ICl surgery will happen on Monday. I am scared because I watched surgery procedure
Do you have halos around light sources in very dark situations, I mean when you pupil is larger than the optical zone?
I also had the regret 3 nights after the surgery and thought to myself wtf did I just did, why didn't i just stick with my contact lenses. But almost a week later, my eyes are adjusting to the lenses. I didn't take a sedative because i wasn't offered one hahahahahah, so the whole time, i was clenching my ass cheeks the whole time and I got a very high tolerance level for pain and discomfort so I guess that helped. I am still getting glares at night but it goes away after a while.
Angeline Ng wow, what a story. Good job on getting through the surgery without sedatives! Take care and hope you are enjoying your eyesight 😊
Hi sweetheart!! Really appreciatd ur video!!! I had my icl surgery 2 weeks ago, and really wanted to ask u how did they know how much pressure u had? Did they use any machine to test it? Because in my case they have not, and it is really something i'd like to know😁 thank u😍
Hi, thanks :) Congrats on your surgery. yes, they did check it with a machine. The first day, right after the surgery, I couldn't keep my eyes open so they tried first with the machine but since it didn't work they checked it manually. The next they they check the pressure again, and then the machine worked. I'm not sure why they didn't check you, or maybe they did manually. Maybe you could ask them what the pressure was. If they checked they should be able to answer. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Yes, they did touch my eye with the hand, but I will ask them about my pressure to be sure. Thank u for answering!🤗❤
Thanks for the great videos. How are you now? Has vision improved? What are the problems you have now? Have you used Scleral lenses before? I need your answer.
Rez Moh sorry about my late reply. Check out my update video, hopefully I answer some of your questions there. If you have more questions please comment and I’ll answer as soon as I can :)

Where did you get your operation done? I am based in Stockholm and am trying to get an idea on how reputable the different clinics are.
Kiren Nair i did it in Malmö. I would suggest after finding a good clinic to check the doctor and see if he has any comments or reported problems.
Kiren Nair also, make sure you feel comfortable when you go to do the initial visit. For me it was important to feel like they gave me a lot of time and checked everything carefully. They are choosing which strengths your implants will have and that is sooo important that they get that right. Only do the surgery if you feel 100% comfortable with the clinic!
Hej!
Elina I oh tack!
Hello. Thank you for posting you experience with icl. Im also planning on getting consultation for this procedure next month. Were you able to get back to using contact lens after the iridotomy? And did did you experience any increase in floaters?
Bill Yen i have made an update video, hopefully I address your question there :) feel free to write me again if you have more questions.
th-cam.com/video/qgvmW6F-_A4/w-d-xo.html
@@melinatsapos7690 the video says nothing about a lazer iridotomy.
@@bigmoney4685 no because I didn't have one.I don't even know anything about it, so I didn't include it in the video. sorry, I didn't understand your question really. But the video is just about my experience, and I'm definitely not an expert!
Hi !
How do you feel now ?
Are you happy with the results ?
Hi, sure I'm happy :) Would it be helpful if I did another video update? now its 3 year ago since I did the surgery. If you think so, please send me some questions you would like me to discuss.
@@melinatsapos7690
Hi !
Thank you very much for the reply !
Yes sure another video would be great.
How do you feel now about the hollows do they still bother you a lot ?
And what kind of Icl did you have a monofocal or biofocal lens ?
Any side effects after this period of time ?
Thank you !
Hi, thanks for this video. How's your vision now? And the eye pressure.
my vision is really clear and better than it ever was with glasses or contacts. My only issue still are halos/ or flares at night. You can check out my update video. link in description box :)
ps. the pressure is only critical the first few days or week. Since it has been more than a year I don't check the pressure which means everything is normal.
I have really bad ghosting at night time when I look at screens, I’m so worried…. Will this go away?
Im so sorry to hear you are worried. Please contact your doctor!
@@melinatsapos7690 Tusen takk for svar! =) Skal høre med apoteket og spør hva de kan anbefale meg! :D Prøve å være så tålmodig som jeg kan!
i had my icl surgery in right eye 5 days ago, when i am seeing in light ,a round holes image is forming ..is this norml or same thing done with you
I don't know if if it was the same for me, because we all describe what we experience so different. But, Yes I saw and I still see like two rings or circles. I describe it as flares kind of like in a camera. It is called camera lens flares, if you google pictures you can see what I mean. The bad news is that they don't actually disappear, it is a hole in the implant, the lens, to regulate the pressure and flow of fluids. I was very sad about this in the beginning. The good news is that it becomes less and less. And we adapt and learn to live with it. it took me almost 6 months to feel better about it. I talk about it in my other video. But now I am very happy and I know that this is much batter than my option to not have the surgery. I hope you will feel the same soon! I wish you a speedy recovery.
thanks
Thank u so much for the video. Please do an update 😂
i did a 6 months update :)
@@melinatsapos7690 thank you so much i m going to watch it now. Or probably watched it because i was doing a Marathon through ur videos when i landed on ur channel lol 😂
Hi Melina r u still in Sydney ???
Mam lcl sergery detect to torch light
Hi! May I know your prescription before the ICL surgery??
do you mean my vision before? Ithink I mention that it was -4,25 for contacts and -4,5 in glasses
I had icl done 14 days ago. Can I wash my eyes now? Also my left eye is feeling inflamed sometimes.
Suryanarayana Takkellapati I have no idea. You should contact your doctor.
i also had an ICL surgery 10 days before..
sometimes i feel the right eye vision gets blur , did u feel the same??
Game-Freak-Gaming yeah, I do too. It’s like it is foggy and blured. I asked my doc about it. He said usually that happens if the eye is dry and I should just blink. Also, he said it will get better. I guess patient is the name of the game!
Hi, I was wondering how are you now, and do u feel like the world is smaller after the surgery? Like wearing glasses constantly
Lingsten hi :) here is my uodate video :) th-cam.com/video/qgvmW6F-_A4/w-d-xo.html
I feel the same in ryt eye..plus halos
Did you have a lazer iridotomy before the icl surgery?
no.
@@melinatsapos7690 Hi, thank you for the reply much appreciated. From what i have read on the internet it says before an icl lens is implanted into the eye maybe a week before a doctor has a lazer to make a hole into the iris so that it reduces pressure in the eye for when the lens is inserted.
So you never had this done before or during surgery?
@@bigmoney4685 ok so I just did a quick google search to find out what you are asking me about. it seems as though some clinics do this, but It was not done for me at my clinics. My impression is that there is a new method how to do the surgery now, or maybe if you have other issues then the doctor needs to do this to help you. But im really not sure at all. All I know is that it was not done this way at my clinic for me.
@@melinatsapos7690 Hi, thank you for your reply. I have done a bit of research into this and apparantly there is a new icl lens with a hole in the lens somewhere that does not require the patient to have a lazer iridotomy. From what you have said maybe you have the latest icl lenses in your eyes.
I have been to sweden for a holiday and it is a beautiful country and lovely people. Hope all goes well with your eyes. Saludos.
Hi Ben, So I'm booked in for this surgery and have been told by my doctor that I will need the laser iridotomy as well. The reason for this is he explained that I have hyperopic eyes along with the astigmatism so the ICL lens is thicker. If you have myopic eyesight the icl is thinner and they can put the hole through it but because my icl will have to be thicker, I require the iridotomy to allow fro fluid to pass through an to avoid high pressures in my eye.
Do u see holos at night in the Light?
I see flares inside my eye, it is not halos like around the light. I have heard some see halos around the light, but mine is different. In the city at night or driving a car at night can be super annoying.
Those flares do u see them just at night or all the time ?
Soumaya Sanhaji sometimes I see them during the day too. If the sun is shining and reflecting on something shiny, like metal or glas, then I get flares.
@@melinatsapos7690 are flares the same as "starbursts"?
I see halos
Hey! Very informative video & kinda reassuring haha cause i had icl surgery 2 days ago. I wanted to ask something, in the series of video, you mentioned that you couldn't focus on things that are up-close. How long does it last. On the day i had surgery i was able to focus. After a day I can't. How long does it last?
Thank you! Im happy to hear that. regarding the focus, I think it is very different for everybody. For me I think it took at least one or two weeks. But I am so happy now, everything is so good. I think it will get better for you too, but if you feel something is very wrong you should call your doctor. I know it is so scary and its hard to just wait and wait. For me it took a long time to get better though. We have to remember that it is a big trauma to have the surgery and the body, our eyes need time to heal. So the best medicin is to stay positive, it will help heal faster :) Good luck to you and I really hope you get better soon. Although like I said, you should definitely contact your doctor if you feel something is wrong.
@@melinatsapos7690 Thanks for your reply! I visited my surgeon the next day itself & it turned out that right eye ICL rotated a bit because of the visco they use. They couldn't remove it properly cause i was hyperventilating. I got it shifted back to correct degrees. It's been alright for now 7 days. Everything seems great! Thanks again
@@rajjadeja4194 oh gosh, im so happy you went to see your doctor and that they were able to fix it :) all the best 🥰
The new ICL lens has a hole in the middle to reduce chance of cataract but it's reported to cause halo or flares.
Is it really something you can get used to?
ACiD AGE Please see my update video I address your question there :)
th-cam.com/video/qgvmW6F-_A4/w-d-xo.html
Have your blurriness and flares gotten better?
The blurriness has gotten better, and the flares are bothering me less. They are still there, but I guess I'm getting used to them because I don't think about them as much. They are less intense for sure. Hope that helps :)
What is your age ?
When I did the surgery, just over 30.
@@melinatsapos7690 but you look younger than 30
