Zone mode is the best racing mode ever. Love your gameplay, it really makes me miss Wipeout even more. What a sad console generation without Wipeout around.
No matter how many times I see this person do this I am in a state of shock, awe and disbelief. We are witnessing greatness people and I think this needs to be acknowledged. Whoever made this video, congratulations you are damn near a god amongst us mortals. Well done
Thanks, viewer! I should mention that this run has since been improved to over 180 zones now, please be sure to check my channel for my latest personal bests.
It really makes you wonder how chaotic and scary a race could be if the ships were allowed to go past Super Phantom (A+ Class). Imagine races in Zen class or even Mach 1 and beyond.
Wanna tip? Watch the fasted and highest quality resolution Wipeout Zone videos on at 60fps before a play session. All of a sudden, the game will feel slow when actually playing it yourself. You can test this theory by doing the above, then rewatch the zone video fro the beginning. Itll appear to be much slower.
I have no idea why this happens. I think this is the result of an integer overflow when speed pads are being tracked by the game. I don't think this ever happened in HD Fury. I believe this overflow happens after hitting over 1,000 Speed Pads in one session. More research is required to figuring out why this happens. While the speed pads numbers are displayed incorrectly, they are tracked correctly in the Statistics menu. (Otherwise, the game would have said I have hit billions of speed pads in my career, which wouldn't be right.) - systeminspired
It sure was! I think that's why I keep playing Zone. That feeling of excitement and adrenaline as you close in on beating your high score is a feeling I can't really get anywhere else. Be on the lookout for future runs!
Damn man you are one of the best players I have ever seen in my life & Im old (born in 81) but I am still a boss on some old school NES, SNES, Genesis....
Oh, thanks for the compliment! I actually have improved this run not too long ago, I've completed over 200 zones in one run. I haven't played many old consoles, but it's great to hear that you still have experience with those consoles.
I could not imagine it either. That's video game physics for you, we're able to go as fast as we want without any brain damage! Perhaps you might be dizzy by the time your session is finished though.
That's just incredible 👏 Takes a lot of practice to get there xD. I played 2048, and I now have the Omega Collection, it's excellent. If they ever release a PS5 version, definitely count me in!
i remember training every day to get to zone 170, it take me weeks of playing this 2 times a day after work, 2 times a day because after two try your vision begin to stretch forward if you look anywhere but the screen...this track should not have been called syncopia but synesthesia.
My current zone record is now 176. I am still trying to improve it further. Maybe I can reach Zone 200. If I do, I will definitely do a video of the full run.
I'm surprised this video is already over 2 years old...time truly flies when you're having fun. There is a chance that a Wipeout game could be made for the PS5, but I am uncertain. We can only wait... - systeminspired
Experiencing this game in VR is unlike anything else. If you are susceptible to motion sickness, make sure to play around with the VR settings to find settings that you are comfortable with. The most immersive experience can be achieved by playing in internal view (where you are inside the cockpit of the ship). Have fun flying! #systeminspired
That's right! You can change views by pressing the triangle button (default controls). You can also change views through the options menu. I've played on near chase for as long as I can remember. I will eventually go back to playing in VR while in internal cam. The detail put into VR mode is definitely impressive. - systeminspired
Try playing this game in VR. That will definitely get your head spinning once you're in the high zones. Strangely, I don't seem to get sick whenever I play Zone mode, even for a long time. Although, playing video games for too long is unhealthy, so I do make sure to take breaks often. - systeminspired
I just looked at the timestamp you're referring to; that is standard airbraking. Simply press and hold (using default controls) L2 to activate the left airbrake and R2 to activate the right airbrake. Try using one airbrake while turning your ship. Using the airbrakes effectively will allow you to turn sharper. This is a necessity for faster races. Hopefully this helps!
A couple of different songs play in the first 10 minutes. The first song to play is "Remote (Deadmau5 remix)" - James Talk. Oh wow, that's very impressive. Unfortunately I probably wasn't able to see your score on the leaderboards. In fact, the leaderboards for HD Fury have long been offline. It's quite sad, but at least we have the leaderboards for Omega Collection still active. I'm glad to see other experienced Zone players and learn about their best achievements!
@@systeminspired you can actually still see some records from PS3 Wipeout on wipeoutrankings. I think it might only show records for people that signed up to it though. Back in the day I think I was in the top 5 for Syncopia Zone on PS3, nowadays my record still puts me at #19. My cleared zones don't really stack up to the rest but I clearly had a much better strategy than most others for racking up score...
Good job! Two questions: 1). How exactly does the shield "reward" for perfect laps work? Last Wipeout I played was pulse, and I can't how it even worked there. 2). Is there a section after Supersonic (as in somebody used hacks or data mining to find out) Pulse, for example, I think that it stops at Zen, as I managed to do zone 60(Moa therma) and nothing changed.
1) It doesn't reward for perfect laps. It instead rewards for perfect zones. Look at the small blue circles that light up on the left of the screen. This shows the length of a zone, which is ten seconds. If you don't hit a wall during this ten second interval, you get 10 shield energy back. Perfect laps just reward score. Think about it like waiting for a train. If you leave the station during this ten second interval, you will miss your ride at the end of the ten seconds. However, at the next interval, if you stay at the station for the whole ten seconds, you are guaranteed to not miss your ride. 2) Supersonic is the highest class in Wipeout HD Fury and Mach X is the highest class in Wipeout 2048. As far as I know, those are the highest classes, but that doesn't mean the game keeps getting faster!

Zone 150 is a major challenge in itself. I've Personally done it, and so has the Uploader of this video, Systeminspired. -FuSionZWZ
