    You continually amaze me with the M&P soap. It practically sits up and begs at your command. Personally, I would have cut the amount of red by 50 grams and the black by 50-100 grams (because it’s such a strong color) to have more of the white, but I really like how this turned out.

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to reheat one. Just 10 seconds. I put all 3 containers in the microwave. Also this is suspending base, its different to that of normal clear or white soap. Its a lot thicker.

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think at the right temp you could do this with a few bases but the timeframe will be so small, some fluid to hard in seconds. I find suspending base to be thicker and hence it should hold a swirl better.

    awesome blend!! I've been messing up my M&P by testing out natural coloring - the colors don't always look as good as mica but I want an all natural soap. charcoal always looks good.. it's the green/yellow that turn out bad lol do you add any other oils to your blend? I mix in a little extra almond oil and vitamin E

    Hi Dean.. I'm a new subscriber and a beginner in soap making...I really loved ur videos. I'm quite confused about the temperatures to be maintained and the amount of additives to be used in each base and also about the types of base. It would be much helpful for beginners like me if u could do an introduction video on melt and pour soaps...

      Hi, I wish I could but I have closed my soap business about 5 months ago. I would not be making any further soap videos. However I could suggest a course from udemy.com with melt and pour. From what I have read, they are very good with different bases etc.

      @@DeanWilson thanks for replying...I had done a course on melt and pour but here in India they don't teach about designers soaps and about the different types of soap bases..

      I was going to make a udemy course for melt and pour with different designs but I ran out of time and base. Maybe in the future.

    Would you think it would be possible to do this without a suspension base soap?

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but you need to pour slowly and at low temp so the base your pouring does not merge with the other colors. From my experience, there is about a 30 second window to get it all into the mold at the right temp.

    I made my first batch of soap using the instructions that came with my soap kit but the soap is not foaming. Is there a reason? Also, how do l preserve the soap if l"m not using it right away?

    • @DeanWilson
      @DeanWilson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't make the melt and pour base myself so I can tell you why. Best way to preserve the soap is to wrap it in air tight bag.

    Dear Dean, I watch your videos but its now I am looking for specifics as I am inspired with your humble tutorials and also the art and craft work attached to it.
    Covid is giving tough time as it has reduced the external mobility, so thought of keeping mind engaged in some activity to avoid gloomy mind and unexplained uncertainity.
    If you would like to share your experience, I wish to to know few tips.
    1) Do you use essential oils other than fragrance oils? If so, quantity (per 1000 gm M&P) and process of adding in melt and pour.
    2) Things to avoid while making M&P soap ( For eg: Whether excess usage of dye or rubbing alcohol does damage to skin or not?)
    3) Will the fragrance wane away in a period of time?
    4) If we use two different bases ( say 500 gm extra clear and 500 gm goat milk) together to make a soap, should we add fragrance oil in one base or it should be added to both the bases in equal measure?
    5) What we should do for a stronger bond between extra clear and goat milk when we make a layered soap ?.......because my soap is getting seperated at where one layer was poured on another layer even after rubbing alcohol was used immediately after first layer and before pouring the second layer.

      Thanks for your questions.
      1. I have only ever used fragrance oils. For them they are too expensive and fragrance oils are designed to work with soaps and are 100% skin safe. But buy from a good supplier thats trusted.
      2. Rubbing alcohol and dye is skin safe but check with the dye supplier to what level, some are high and some are low. Every supplier will be different.
      3. I noticed a small drop in scent over a period of 1 year. But apart from that it stays nice and strong at 2% fragrance oils.
      4. Add equal amounts, so if your using 2% (which is 20 grams fragrance) then you would add 10 grams fragrance to each 500 gram block of melted soap base.
      5. I found when the base gets cold it doesn't hold as well, so pour the next layer when the previous base is still warm but had a skin.
      Hope they help :)
