    2021 update: There's no more camping behind Stanford House. But there are 4 other overnight options inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park. See this article and video: www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/04/7-adventures-at-cuyahoga-valley-national-park-video.html

    It's amazing how the Cuyahoga Valley National Park isn't as well known as other national parks. It's truly a great park to visit.

    This is so interesting! I think this makes it easier for the viewers to see what best to do from someone who may not know in advance what their plans may be while visiting!

    I believe the best activity is floating the Cuyahoga River from Ira Road to Rt 82... The river is clean and full of fish...

    It's kind of obvious, but hiking is my top thing to do in the park, but the Buckeye Trail always seems to be forgotten. The BT circles Ohio for 1444 miles, and 40 miles of it are in the park, including some fairly strenuous stretches. It passes waterfalls, deep gorges, and other nice features. If you don't fancy an end-to-end hike, it's easy to make it a loop with the Towpath Trail. I often leave my bike at one of the Towpath trailheads, drive to another trailhead and hike back to my bike, which I ride back to my car along the Towpath. Trail maps are available online, or printed copies are at all trailheads. Sadly, you can't camp along the trail.
    Also, Trail Mix has the best home-made energy bars I have ever tasted!

    I'm thinking about adding this to my already formed up list of things for next summer. Re. the train, I just returned from this year's getaway, and 2 of my stops were Royal Gorge RR, and Durango & Silverton RR, both in CO, and both spectacular.

    We might make a trip out there from Connecticut next year, after spending a few days at Niagara Falls which is only 3.5 hours from CVNP.

      It would be a big state park. It used to be a national recreation area.

    • @pinkfreud62
      @pinkfreud62 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although I agree it's far from the best NP, it's one of the closest for area people and yea, it's a better state park than what most people would consider. I've been to alot of NP, including Denali, Death Valley, Yellowstone, Zion, etc, and no way would I fly or drive hundreds or thousands of miles to see this NP. It's beautiful, but surrounding states have just as much.

      @eversunnyguy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pinkfreud62 I am surprised this is even called a national park (administered by Federal govt). It should be a state park at the best for its size and beauty.

    Have not been there in 35-40 years since that kid died in the little cave beside the ice box cave. Then the wall carvings close to the same area. One day I will make it back home.
